Calling it now, Carrie Underwood for 2018. Her name was in the mix a couple years ago but she got pregnant. I think she'll be releasing an album early next year so it'd be perfect. NFL loves her, too, and NBC will be airing it...

I could see Maroon 5 being in the mix especially if it's on NBC

I'm fine with both Maroon 5 and Carrie tbh Adele too, even though she wouldn't make that much of a show, just great songs and killer vocals. But she's Adele so she's making history either way :/

Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, Pink and Rihanna seem like the most viable options to me. I think JT has kissed enough ass and distanced himself enough from the Superbowl incident to be invited back (although I personally find it disgusting given the hypocrisy, but whatever).

J.Lo would be a good choice, too.
There are lots of possibilities but it comes down to whose schedule allows the commitment; and who the NFL deems fit to ask. In terms of live performance vocal skills, I think P!nk or Carrie would be great ones to ask, because they're also capable of putting on high-energy shows. However, if they're looking for an overall spectacle in terms of choreography, J.Lo and Rihanna would be viable options... It seems they've been leaning towards LIVE shows the past few years so I lean towards artists like P!nk or Carrie. Taylor Swift is another super viable option; she'd kinda be in the middle...
My money is on Carrie, but really there are a handful of artists who can get the job done!

Well, truth is that they only choose people who truly deserve to do the show. I don't think I'm going to be unhappy with any of them.
I'm still here for Taylor (even though she's got a Diet Coke deal I think)
1. Intro / Blank Space 2. WANEGBT 3. (Transition / Outfit Change) Style 4. Can't Feel My Face / Starboy (w/ The Weeknd) or 4. Pillowtalk / IDWLF (w/ Zayn) 5. Love Story / You Belong With Me 6. Bad Blood / I Knew You Were Trouble 7. Shake It Off 8. Wildest Dreams / Enchanted with a choir or sth
I know this will never ever happen as that's way too many songs and she always closes with SIO but that would kill me.

As long as Taylor has ANY association with Coca-Cola she will probably never do the Super Bowl.

And of all the names being thrown around, Taylor is probably the least affiliated with the NFL... and she has absolutely no NBC connections that I can think of... not that those affiliations make/break the deal, but I'm sure it helps to be affiliated with the network and/or the NFL organization.

Luke Bryan could also do it. I hear people saying that as well. Or an all the voice judges special. I think they might try country. No way Justin or Britney doing it. Highly doubt pink or Rihanna either. Taylor seems viable. Eminem was also thrown around a lot. But I don't think he has enough "clean" music besides lose yourself which obviously is one of the biggest pop songs in modern history. Unless he did a split show with Rihanna or something. Then again he could bring out 50 cent and dr dre for classics. I just always see NFL mentioning Eminem.

Fuuuuck no to Luke Bryan. He has virtually no global appeal. I'm sure the NFL would invite a country act to do it at some point, but they'd at least have to be able to pull an international audience, too, which makes for extremely limited options (Carrie is honestly one of the only current mainstream ones that'd fit the bill, but she's not even especially huge internationally when you remove Australia and England/the UK from the equation).
Pink and Rihanna make the most sense. JT, as well, and as much as I'd dislike it, M5 would make sense, too. If they wanted country, Carrie would be the ideal choice. Honestly can't see it being anyone else beyond those 5. I believe Taylor Swift is still locked and loaded in her contract with Coca Cola.

Pink and Rihanna make the most sense. JT, as well
He should still be blacklisted... however, knowing how things go in this organization, his white male ass probably is not.

I think it'll be Adele or Taylor. Justin, Rihanna and P!NK are also possibles. Maybe Maroon 5 or One Republic? Sadly, I don't think Ariana will ever get it after her "I hate America" comment, even though she explained what she meant

She already co-headlined it in 2003 with No Doubt and Sting.

As long as Pepsi is the sponsor it is going to be nothing but current artists because they will keep catering to the younger demographic. Taylor's invite depends on how long her current contract with Coca-Cola is. Rihanna could be up in the air as well because that girl is aligned with all kinds of brand deals that could be laden in red tape. From current artists I could see Carrie, P!nk, or Maroon 5 since all 3 could/would be releasing albums later this year. Deep down I don't think it would be something Adele would do due to Pepsi's rather heavy hand in what they would want in return from the artist. With the newness of when Bruno did his I could also see them tossing Ed Sheeran into the pool for next year too.

I'd be fine with Pink or Maroon 5. Rihanna would be my pick but I don't think she'll do it, at least not soon-ish.

The backlash would be swift and justified from social media and the press if JT is ever asked to perform, as long as Janet is still banned. Ariana still needs time and work to prove she could captivate an audience that big. Her AMA performance of "Focus" shows she has potential. Pink is a safe bet but not really a household name to carry a half time show. She'd be a killer performer though. Ciara would MURDER that stage more than any R&B singer out now but she doesn't have enough pop hits and crossover appeal. All she needs is one big era and I could see her name being tossed out there. Missy proved that hop hip/R&B acts are in demand for a half time show and she would absolutely KILL IT if she headlines. Carrie - eh...I guess Rihanna - The biggest problem she'd face is putting together a proper setlist! Umbrella, WFL, and PDR are all but guaranteed, but that does not leave a lot of her other hits. She could go in so many directions with her set. She's a MUST. Taylor is okay I guess. She's safe and soccer moms love her. She has the hits, look, and crossover appeal to make a show work. Adele performing is a MUST. She has enough uptempos to put on a good show. As far as pop acts, Lady Gaga is as big as it gets.

It's a for real thing that Janet is banned? Wow. I know I've heard that mentioned countless times in the past but in actually thinking about it (as in, in giving it any ounce of acknowledgement) it's so ridiculous that she's banned. The amount of flack she got for that is beyond comprehension. A, Justin's involvement, B, Justin actually pulled it off or whatever, C, it's a fucking boob. What the fuck is wrong with your country that a boob is deemed THAT offensive?

If JT gets another shot at the halftime, I will absolutely be marching in the streets with Planet Janet and Black Twitter.

Swift seems like the obv next choice, but I don't want her to do it cause she isn't really captivating or interesting live Carrie would be LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE x a mil Rihanna would be fine, but I don't really see it JT, naaaaah Maroon 5, FUCK NO PLZ
I'd also love Adele & P!nk, Britney honestly as much as I love her, no Not until she at least performs kick ass choreo comfortably again, even then I don't see it happening tbh

I think P!nk would definitely be a great contender. Like Gaga she's a killer vocalist, has a plethora of remembered hits, and is an A+ performer.... I think her show would be awesome.
Tbh Maroon 5 would be Coldplay 2.0, just with more notable (and better) hits. Rihanna's sort of a lame performer and not a very good live singer, but if she had good production and visuals she'd be able to pull it off since she also has a ton of hits.
Taylor will never do it as long as she's with Coke and/or if Pepsi is the sponsor but she'd definitely be a safe choice. Middle America's favorite popstar, lol.
Ariana Grande's hits aren't very memorable and were really short lived tbh... Right now she is too tween-oriented to do the Superbowl. Give her five more years and maybe, if she has more appealing music to a broader demographic. I feel like most of Middle America will never like her though after the whole "I hate America" donut thing as stupid as that was.... but I mean, they were hating Gaga until she owned that stage... so you never know

If Ariana Grande continues to churn out strong-enough radio hits over the course of the next 4-5 years, I could absolutely see a case being made for her to do it. She's on her, what, 3rd headlining arena tour? I don't know much about her international presence, but if we can keep Carrie in the discussion, then I don't see why Ariana-in-five-years shouldn't be considered, either.
If anything, the only initial controversy that could return to her plate if she got the gig would be her donut licking/"I hate America" comment, since the Superbowl is like white America's extended Christmas. But also, like, 75% of Americans hate America rn so nvm.

Do people actually remember that donut scandal? I'm not the most in-tune with the general public, but I completely forgot about it until it was brought up in here.

Do people actually remember that donut scandal? I'm not the most in-tune with the general public, but I completely forgot about it until it was brought up in here. Not enough for it to be such a huge deal, I'm sure, but if the age-old and long-since-forgotten "Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite" shit could resurface all over social media for days leading up to her show, I have no doubt that'd be something that'd come up, too. Again, it likely wouldn't be a big deal to most, but I'm sure some of the Bowl's core audience would likely have a tizzy should someone who said "I hate America" get the Halftime show.
