And how many weeks?
Wikipedia says that it peaked at #84. And that it was released March 1, 1999. I went through all the weeks of March 1999. I can't find it. Can't find which weeks it charted on.
Really wish there was an "acharts.co" for pre-2003 stuff.

It's credited on Billboard as "Jigga, What...". Its run began in 5/8/1999 chart at its peak of #84, holding on the 5/15 chart, and holding again on the 5/22 chart, before collapsing off the chart entirely.
Remember in the future that release dates don't always match peak popularity dates (later usually), and popularity dates don't match up with chart dates (later always), so you have to offset for that.

Remember in the future that release dates don't always match peak popularity dates (later usually), and popularity dates don't match up with chart dates (later always), so you have to offset for that. Thanks a ton, and how did you figure that out so easily? Did you have to go through every week in 1999 until you found it? It's difficult for me to find when and if a song re-entered the chart during the 20th century because they don't mark the difference between a new or re-entering song. Also, the number of weeks they are said to chart are often either inconsistent or inaccurate. Especially in that 2000-2003 era when they first started putting results online, but didn't really update them very well. Plus, when a song changes titles part way through its run, or changes the details of the credited artists, it often shows up as two different songs. So this really complicates the process of cataloging every week that an artist (in this case, Jay-Z) spent on the Hot 100.

I am not sure how the search function works on billboard.com but billboard.biz has a good search function (need a subscription)
In my case though, I have my own database. Others probably do as well

Sherane Lamar (and others): Threads for questions about old chart activity can go in Nostalgia. If they're tied to a specific song/timeframe, then they can go in the respective timeframe's decade. For the moment, though, I'll shift this off to the main Nostalgia forum.
