Hello! After more than eight months of development work, including a more than three-month beta testing period involving many Pulse users, I'm very happy to announce the launch of my new charts website, Crownnote. Crownnote allows users to post weekly charts of their favorite songs, which gives songs points that contribute to the Crown 100, Crownnote's weekly chart of the biggest hits on the site. You can also follow other users to discover new music, display a well-designed version of your chart without the need to wrangle with BBCode here (or copy a plain-text version of your chart here with a single click of a button), import your charts from spreadsheets if you have archival data, and directly impact the outcome of each Monday's Crown 100. Thank you to the many Pulse users who've participated in the beta test – you'll find their names on the site and can follow them now to start seeing their charts each week and building your personal leaderboard. This is only the beginning – there are lots of updates in the works along with what's launching today – but if you have any questions or need any help, feel free to reach out! For now, this blog post contains several helpful links, as does the Help & Documentation page. I hope you'll enjoy sharing your charts with Crownnote! crownnote.com/

Now comes the annoying part where I tag all of you who responded to the two polls I posted about this (you just didn't know then that it was about this, lol) at the beginning of the year, and people who replied with sort-of interest when I started asking about the beta test in RT! Ok I'm deffo gonna need some help with this, but I have to head to work now. Happy to help when your chart has Céline on it! If you have your charts in a spreadsheet format, check out this page for instructions; if you're just entering them manually, use the Songs field to enter positions and song titles. Feel free to PM me (here or there) if you need more help!

Wow! Kurt this is really cool! I made an account! I gave up on my personal chart because the Pulse table thing is very glitchy, but you have inspired me to start it up again in the new year! Thanks.

The chart system is very flawed if there's multiple artists on one song or a song from multiple albums. It counts as more than one chart position and thus messes up the whole chart.
EDIT: Okay, at least it does when viewed from what I'm assuming is an insider?
EDIT 2: I'm an idiot, ignore me.

I love the layout and plan to contribute going forward. I wish it were easier to search songs to add though (some titles had several entries so it took awhile to find the right #). I was able to search but the nid doesn't show up on the song page when you use the search function. I also noticed that if you add charts in reverse chronological order, songs will all show up as re-entries on newer charts (edit: just checked and this looks to be fixed today). I wanted to add older charts so that the peaks were correct (since they're based on charts that have been loaded in the system).

Your first question about the NIDs is definitely the #1 request I've received and my #1 priority (I'm like 90% of the way to fixing it and hoping to square it away this weekend). For now, you can fix the everything-is-a-re-entry problem by resaving the chart, but I'm hoping o improve that process soon too. Side note: you can hear me (plus Adam (UTR)) discuss the beginnings and future of the site on the newest episode of the podcast I cohost (#selfpromo): crownnote.com/blog/crownnote-on-the-pop-unmuted-podcast As mentioned at the end of it, Adam and I are also starting a monthly podcast that will recap the latest charts and site updates; more on that soon.

Love the design! It's gonna take a while but I'll try to add my 2016 charts.
About the NID, I found it easier to use the search, and when you find the correct song, and then click "Edit", the URL gives you the correct NID. For a song like Kiiara's Gold, typing the song's title when you're making the chart gives you about 10 different results so this way I was able to find the right one faster.

Okay, cool, now the issue is when I try to make a new chart, and the song I want doesn't show up on the "short list" that I can't use the song.
Can I just enter the node? I can't code it as it's written in every other line because it'll pop up as an error (just tried it). It was a bit of a pain to have to find the right note before hand, yes, but at least just the songs with those exact wordings popped up. Not typing "Here" and getting songs that have "there" in it.

Yes, the workaround is to type "Song Title (NID)" there. Working on trying to find a better solution / show more than 10 again.

Quoting this post here, so Kurt could help you. I tried to start working on last week's chart a couple of days ago, but was frustrated that I couldn't get the weeks and peaks on there (not to mention I have to add 35 songs to the database). Do you have to upload all your archived charts just to get the correct song data? And do you have to go the "Create a new chart" option or whatever for every archived chart? I had postponed using Crownnote for so long because I was waiting to be able to get the correct peaks.

Hey Kurt, I have been wondering, is a #1 on everybody's chart worth the same amount of points? How do the points differ between charts of different sizes? Since my chart is only 50 positions while most other people have 100, it just seems like either my higher songs would have to be worth less than somebody with a 100-position chart (because there are not as many positions through which to accumulate points), or #51-100 on somebody else's chart would have to be worth less than anything on my chart...

I had postponed using Crownnote for so long because I was waiting to be able to get the correct peaks. Since peaks and number of weeks on chart are calculated automatically based on your chart data, rather than you having to enter them manually every week, yes, you'll need to enter all of your chart data to have accurate peaks. I'd recommend starting with your oldest ones first and going forward instead of backward, so it'll save you a step in having to recalculate everything later. Planning to improve things so those will recalculate automatically in the future and it won't matter the order in which you add them. No, all #1s receive the same 10,000 points. The idea there is that everyone's favorite song is weighted the same and that you probably have more songs you like than positions on your chart, but if yours cuts off earlier than someone else's, it only hurts the songs that you'd have charted if your chart was longer. (Also, I think I initially tried giving them a weight like you suggested and it didn't work. lol)

I also started doing charts again, using Crownnote! Really nice design and cool page. :)
But I also have one question. When I look at the leaderboard, I see that some songs occupy several spots. For example: "Sucker For Pain" is in the spots 9-14. Why is that so?

For example: "Sucker For Pain" is in the spots 9-14. Why is that so? It's because songs chart on the leaderboard separately for each lead artist and featured artist. It's a pretty big problem, especially for a song like Sucker For Pain with its 319 different collaborating artists. Please fix this ASAP Kurt . About the weighting of different positions based on how many positions are on the chart, yeah I think it's best how it is with each position being worth the same regardless of the chart. It just makes more sense to me. The one somewhat related suggestion I would have is that on the graph which shows history of a song on each user's charts, if that graph could scale to a specific number of spots (probably the number of spots on that user's chart) rather than the default 100. It would give a better picture of the history of songs on charts.
