ESC 2017 will be the 62nd edition of the contest. 43 countries going to participate next year, Portugal and Romania will return to the contest; both of whom were absent from the 2016 edition. Bosnia and Herzegovina, who had returned in 2016, have withdrawn due to financial difficulties.

It was the televote; there's enough of an anti-Australian sentiment from people who think we don't belong in Eurovision, and that's what hindered us. But the thing is, we did as well as we did (both this year with Dami and last year with Guy) because we got points from nearly every voting country, and those points all stacked up even when they were the smaller point values. As far as the 2016 contest, we got our big points from the juries (hence us winning by 100~ points) while from the televote we were mainly getting the smaller points (which, as I said, when most countries gave us points is how we still walked away with a 4th place result in the televote).

The greatness of ESC in general is that it's such a mess and you can't help but love it.

Last year was one of the best eurovisions I've ever seen, Måns and Petra were such great hosts. This year we'll probably have to expect less from it. Though I have heard that some people who organised the last songfestival in Sweden are now helping Ukraine. I just hope Verka will be there, her song is still one of my guilty pleasures. The greatness of ESC in general is that it's such a mess and you can't help but love it. That's why I love Eurovision so much. But I feel like the acts are getting more professional and less weird. I want more weird fun acts.

I have followed the contest since 2012, and I agree with the host, Mans and Petra slayed the show.

Australia probably won't announce an artist til March, based on the last couple of years. Chances are they've not even started the internal selection process yet, lol. I think we're still on less-than-solid footing in the contest, just because we've have great back-to-back results, we need to keep that momentum going if we're going to earn a more permanent place. So we need to send someone that will keep us competitive. I think The Veronicas would be great for it (and they are definitely up for it lol), Delta would be good as well if she decided the time was right. I'm less sure about Samantha Jade, I think she'd be awesome but she's not exactly been a commercial heavyweight here - I mean, neither has Dami really, but Dami has an international support base going for her that I don't think Samantha does. Another option would be to send Jessica Mauboy properly. Beyond that, IDK what we do. I've heard Troye and Kylie thrown around a few times, but I don't think either of them would do us any favours.

This is my first year watching Melodifestivalen the whole way through. Loving Wild Child and A Million Years so far. Sweden shits all over whatever the UK and Germany (the only other two entries I've heard so far) are doing these days.

After narrowly losing out to Lighthouse X last year, Australian singer and The Voice 3rd season winner Anja Nissen will be representing Denmark at Eurovision.
EDIT: Holy f**k but I just found out Anja's song 'Where I Am' was produced by M-Squared Productions (aka Michael DeLorenzis and Michael Paynter) SLAY! :o
