I also really love Anja's song. It's my 2nd, 3rd or 4th(if I exclude my country), I can't decide yet I would also really like the rankdown idea. I would be in!

Rankdown as in first to last? Or 12 to 1 point Euro-style? Ngl that would be cool too. Which makes me think of a possible Pulse-vision, which would be kinda cool too. I've seen it done on other forums (most notably Buzzjack) where forum members act as "countries" and each submit an obscure song, and then have each player rank their favourites on the traditional 1-12 point scale.

Idk if people would like it but I've hosted a game called "Shodonvision" (because it was in Pokémon Showdown) where the people ins and in a random pick the record the song assigned.

The Swedish entry is so basic and gimmicky. He was barely singing. Is that even legal? Lol

Yeah. I haven't gotten around to listening to all the songs yet, but I can't see Sweden winning with that. Which is annoying cuz I'm really eager to see Sweden tie Ireland's record. But I guess it'll happen soon enough anyway since Ireland's track record recently has been... yeah.

I've played a similar game too! We should definitely host one here. The host will randomly pick countries for the participants and they'll have to find a song by an artist who's coming from the country they got. (Eurovision entries AND National Final entries are not eligible)

So, right now, the odds on favourite is Italy. I wouldn't be surprised if they won. Italy in my opinion deserves to win the Eurovision Song Contest.

Yeah... I think Italy deserves to win ESC but not with this entry, Occidentali's Karma is pretty forgettable imo. I'll be mad if it wins.

Ok, heard Italy's entry again 2 times, yeah I'll take it back. Italy deserves to win ESC but not with this. Occidentali's Karma is ok at best. At this rate, I probably just going to watch ESC, without giving an opinion on who wins.

Russia knew exactly what they were doing by choosing her. Now they can withdraw and call Eurovision out for getting all political when it goes against the spirit of the contest, despite Russia being the ones intimidating and provoking their neighbours.

Statement from the European Broadcasting Union (23rd March 2017) Taking into consideration that this ban might be upheld by the Ukrainian authorities, and in order to maintain the non-political nature of the Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU has been working hard to find a solution to this situation and has taken the unprecedented move to offer Channel One Russia the opportunity for Julia to still participate in this year’s Contest by performing live in the 2nd Semi Final via satellite. Should the Russian entry qualify for the Grand Final the same solution would apply. This is something that has never been done before in the Contest’s 60 year history but, in the spirit of Eurovision’s values of inclusivity, and this year’s theme of Celebrate Diversity, the decision has been taken to ensure that all 43 entrants are given the opportunity to participate.
Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor, Jon Ola Sand said: "We are continuing our dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities with the ambition to have all artists present to perform in host city, Kyiv, which is, of course, our preferred option. It is imperative that the Eurovision Song Contest remains free from politics and as such, due to the circumstances surrounding Julia’s travel ban, we have felt it important to propose a solution that transcends such issues. We have offered Channel One Russia the opportunity for Julia to perform live via satellite as it is the EBU’s intention that every broadcaster that has chosen to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest does so, as has been the case for all previous events in the contest’s history."
Frank-Dieter Freiling, Chairman of the Reference Group, the governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, expressed his hope though, that the political leadership of Ukraine will not implement the travel ban and find a solution in line with the contest's slogan, Celebrate Diversity. EBU: "Russia no longer able to take part in Eurovision 2017" Following the official confirmation that Russian Eurovision entrant, Julia Samoylova, will not be permitted to travel to Kyiv to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, the EBU formally offered two alternative proposals to Channel One in a bid to find a solution that would enable Russia to continue their participation in this year’s event."These proposals were to either take part via satellite or to change their chosen artist to one who could legally travel to Ukraine for the duration of the Contest. Sadly both proposals have been rejected by Channel One and they have now announced they do not intend to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Unfortunately this means Russia will no longer be able to take part in this year’s competition. We very much wanted all 43 countries to be able to participate and did all we could to achieve this," the EBU states.
Frank Dieter Freiling, Chairman of the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group, the event’s steering committee, said: "We strongly condemn the Ukrainian authorities' decision to impose a travel ban on Julia Samoylova as we believe it thoroughly undermines the integrity and non-political nature of the Eurovision Song Contest and its mission to bring all nations together in friendly competition. However, preparations continue apace for the Eurovision Song Contest in the host city Kyiv. Our top priority remains to produce a spectacular Eurovision Song Contest with our Member UA:PBC in May." Russia's song was such a MASSIVE step down from last year anyway. Political bulls**t aside we really won't be missing much. I wouldn't even see it qualifying unless juries just threw points at her 'cause she's in a wheelchair (which would be missing the point entirely since it should be based on the SONG and this year Russia's entry is garbage).

My predictions for tomorrow's semi-final: 1. Sweden 2. Portugal 3. Belgium 4. Azerbaijan 5. Armenia 6. Iceland 7. Greece 8. Cyprus 9. Australia 10. Montenegro
11. Latvia 12. Czech Republic 13. Poland 14. Finland 15. Moldova (pls qualify) 16. Albania 17. Slovenia 18. Georgia
Probably way off, honestly the 2nd semi-final has much better songs imo. Also, I probably won't be able to watch the whole final since it ends at 2:00 am in my country and I have a test in the morning ;-;
