That’s a handful of hits over a 5 year period though. During that time, R&B has gone in an even more beat-oriented, trap direction. True modern R&B has been mostly beat driven for a while now, even the verses don't have melodies. There have been modern melodic R&B songs but they tend not to get much airplay except maybe on UAC... unless they came from someone on a reality show. Heh.

People are hungry for REAL music. While I do love this style of music and Bruno as an artist, he is no more legitimate of a musician than say Fetty Wap or Liam Payne. Difference in work ethic, sound variation, melody? The answer ranges from possibly to absolutely. But in no way, shape, or form is there such a thing as “Real” vs “Fake” music. Music is legitimate in all forms, even if they aren’t necessarily celebrated or your personal taste (not even necessarily directed at you, just a comment I see get thrown around a lot!)

This isn't exactly a complex song or anything like that either... It's a typical mindless party song made to sound retro for nostalgia. But that doesn't mean it's not still a mindless party song. It's real music.

I'm out of touch with how these things work or if this even happens these days, but could "Vercase" be re-released after this one since "Finesse" is re-ignited momentum into this album era?

Ok sis, that's not how you do it...I'm not a stan for Bruno, but that guy can sing, dance, write, produce, plus perform multiple musical instruments. He can cross over to pop music but his talent is far above just that.

Chunky is already set up for a hot remix with a few female vocalists hopping on the track. Think One More Chance (Remix) but the cameos actually singing the parts.

I’m saying that Bruno’s music is no more real than anyone else’s. 😂

I don't mean to kill the mood, but with all the lawsuits going on right now I'm predicting this song will be hit next. Due to it's success some irrelevant New Jack Swing artist who had one mild hit in 1991 is gonna come out and sue Bruno for copyright infringement, or something like that. I don't personally think it sounds like any song I've ever heard, but it has the feel of that era so I guess that qualifies for a lawsuit. Marvin Gaye's family really fucked over everyone, assholes.
Quote me.

While I do love this style of music and Bruno as an artist, he is no more legitimate of a musician than say Fetty Wap or Liam Payne. Tried to capacity. I'm legit not comparing talent levels or taste or involvement or multifaceted involvement in the industry. I think Bruno is one of - if not the most talented male artist on the radio right now and he has many skills that he expresses as an artist. All I am saying is as an artist: he is valid as an artist. Just as any other artist. I may not like an artist, but I'll defend their art because it's just not my taste - its still art and its still an artist's expression. Fetty Wap is someone I don't find talented, but I still mentioned him to prove my point. That just because music isn't celebrated or your personal taste - its still real music and real art. (and bat1990, I'm aware that your statement was hyperbolic, but a shitton of people believe this way and I wanted to say something about it)

I never understood the statement when people say ‘real music.’ All music is real music. It really comes down to personal taste and I feel like people use the term ‘real music’ to describe music that goes to their personal taste.

As someone who lived through the 70s, 80s and 90s, and the transformation of Urban radio from Philly Soul all the way to today, I can assure you there were millions of people who thought new jack swing was not real music. It's interesting how tastes and perspectives change over time.

"Real music" is whatever was blasting out of your speakers when you were 12-18 years old, I thought we all knew this already lol. NJS is just interesting to consider from that perspective b/c its melding of r&b and hip-hop is arguably the beginning of hip-hop's decades-in-the-making eventual cannibalization of r&b that we're dealing with today. R&B (in the 'traditional' sense) isn't dead tho, people just seem to not want to hear it unless they can rebrand it as pop somehow. But that is a whole other can of worms. Props to Bruno for being able to pull off the reverse and find success while clearly labeling his music as r&b. Marvin Gaye's family really f**ked over everyone, assholes.Quote me. While I am hoping the lawsuit aspect of your post is not true, I seriously rant about the bolded statement at least once a month.
