Both. They run the top 40 of the year for two weeks, with different extras each week.

Ryan says that this is the first year since 1966 with three songs ("7 Years", "Cool Water", and "Closer") that dropped from and then returned to #1. In any case, "Closer" now becomes the longest running #1 since 2013 with 7 weeks on top, which becomes 9 with the next two "frozen" weeks added in. Had it not yielded to "Let Me Love You" for three weeks it would have had 12 weeks at #1, tying for the longest Seacrest-era #1 with Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together".

"Side To Side" should probably be the first #1 of 2017, if it can hold its sizable advantage at Mediabase for another week and a half or so. (It probably would have been on top of the Dec. 24 and/or 31 AT40s if there were regular shows those weeks.) Among the big post-holiday moves we may see are "Don't Wanna Know" jumping from #10 to #2 (its current MB position) or conceivably even 10-1.
