Dear Casey,
Back in December 2006, I made a rash decision. You see 2 years earlier, I broke my leg, underwent 3 painful procedures, and became addicted to prescription pain medication. Oddly enough my sister Margarite had a similar injury, and we both ended up going through the very same struggles to break our addictions. From rehab centers to methadone treatment, nothing provided success for us, and I was desperate. That's when it dawned on me. If I were convicted of a crime, I'd be locked up in a place that I couldn't check myself out of, and here I am 18 months later a prisoner at the Milwaukee County Jail. It was just a little over 3 months into my jail time that Margarite(my sister & best friend) took her own life. I couldn't even go to the funeral or be with my Mom and Dad. Casey, the grieving for me has been terrible. One of the few escapes I'm allowed is my radio. So, could you please play the song "With or Without You"? I don't know where you are Margarite, but I pray you are at peace, and I want you to know how much I love you. I've been sober 6 months now and with or without you, I will fight this battle and live my life for both of us.
Your Brother,
Andrew
