And very little mention of Bruno being only the second Asian (or person of Asian descent) AOTY winner.

When I was growing up I always viewed the Grammys as a prestigious award show that respected art and the quality of music and the culture and emotions that it evokes. It was so much more than just popularity or sales... it's sad to see them follow trends and popularity so closely now. If you're not mainstream, what chance do you have anymore?
The fact that the very basic Shape of You won today was the final straw for me. I will not be watching the Grammys next year. Somewhere the voters lost the sense of what the Grammys have always been about. Forward thinking, culture defining songs, uniqueness, and authenticity.
Grammy voters, who are supposed to be at their core music lovers, it's a sad day when something as soulless as SOY could beat out songs like Praying, What About Us, and Million Reasons. Songs that made statements and empowered others...
With that being said, if Perfect had won this award I would have understood it a little more. But SOY is radio garbage that I can see winning an AMA or a Billboard but a Grammy...

The Grammy's president Neil Portnow gave a trainwreck interview after the awards. He tried to justify not giving Lorde a performance slot by saying not all the nominees can perform cause there are so many (which is a bullshit answer cause she was nominated for the very top award and Miley Cyrus and Elton John got a spot lmfao) and also when asked about why more women didn't win tonight he said that if women want to be welcomed and awarded they need to "step up" and become artists (literally the most bizarre answer he could of given). A complete mess.

Well......the Grammys Awards have been on CBS for quite a few years now. When it comes to performances, I'm sure they get a HUGE say. They always throw in presenters from CBS shows. Donnie and Shemar were the token ones this year.
I didn't realize the Grammys started at 730 tonight until this evening. And who opened? Kendrick. Not someone CBS viewers would know. I've never seen an awards show start at a half hour. Or before 8. That was weird.
Once Bruno won for song, I figured he'd win album, unless Lorde won. I didn't think he should win song. I really thought Logic should have. I felt bad for SZA and Logic who had to perform after losing. Her losing after 5 noms? That's not fair or fun.
I kinda figured Kendrick and JayZ wouldn't win in any major categories nor SZA in best new artist. There was a lot of streaming for Kendrick and jay and Jays deal.
And I think that's the problem music is facing now with streaming. You can't hold music back to be under a streaming service. If you do, people won't hear it. As much as I love Beyoncé, I'm not signing up for tidal to hear or see the video
At the end of this subpar show, it would be better off on a station that didn't skew to viewers that are 45 and older.

I love 24K Magic (the album) but him winning both ROTY and SOTY was just too much! Really enjoy his music though so not complaining in that sense.
That statement is such a mess :DD
Is there a link to the interview somewhere?

Portnow is an idiot.
The actual answers to the questions he was asked are probably, "Lorde was only put in AOTY for political reasons so we really just didn't care whether she was there or not" and "sell more records, and then we can talk - we literally just threw every award we could at Adele, it is not our fault her gender then had an off year."
And as bad as that paragraph would have sounded out loud, it still would have sounded better than what that fool actually said. smh.

Honestly in the age of social media I would expect Portnow to have more media training and not stick his foot in his mouth... but why expect that from the president of the Grammy's when the President of The United F**king states can't give an interview without causing worldwide outrage lmfao.

I'm very happy for Bruno, but at the same time surprised that he took home 6 Grammys. Including Album, Song and Record of the Year.

"DAMN." and "Melodrama" deserved so much better, especially the first one.
The entire Lorde snub in Pop and Kendrick in the General Field was so outraging lol

As soon as I saw SZA lose to the Weekend and then saw Ed Sheeran take both of those pop awards, I knew this ceremony was complete bullshit. I love Bruno Mars to pieces (and this album and both songs that won) but come on. How do they manage to mess it up so badly every year? Oh well, at least an album and songs I like won. That certainly doesn't happen every year.
The show itself was such a snooze too.

Damn the Grammy voters are heartless. Kesha literally had he career cut off from her for 2 years, and she came back with one of the most genuine songs last year. For them not to applaud her with this award is pretty disappointing. The quality and the story were worthy of the award. Alas generic a$$ Shape Of You won... This times 10 million! I legit screamed and started cursing and ranting. I think it was one of the biggest mistakes in a decade. Like, Pink or Gaga winning would have been acceptable, but I'd still disagree. How the fuck did shitty ass vocals win that category?

Interesting to see if anything from yesterday gets a proper boost on charts. 24K Magic should return to top 5 on albums but not expecting anything more

Before the nominations came out, everyone here was so pressed because they thought Ed would sweep...now Bruno is about to win everything he was nominated for haha Well, it's still better than another white artist beating out R&B and hip-hop acts, but I do also have criticisms of the Bruno sweep. If nothing else "That's What I Like" winning an award for writing is reprehensible. They should have left Bruno out of that category altogether, and then we could have at least had 1 major category he didn't win. Is there even a chance Bruno loses AOTY now? When is the last time someone won ROTY and SOTY and lost AOTY? Sam Smith. Before that, probably Amy Winehouse.

I can already see the think pieces about Bruno winning all of these awards when he decided to ape R&B classics that got nothing. I look forward to these think pieces too because the sh!t is obvious in what the Grammy is doing here. It was expected though. Hip-hop still can't get any love in General unless it is done by someone other than black. Huh? Lauryn Hill and Outkast both won AOTY. Eminem has never won a Grammy in the general field. What non-white artist has won a general category Grammy for making hip-hop music? *I agree hip-hop is snubbed by the Grammys in general, I am just not understanding your point.

Well, Kendrick’s officially the Grammys DiCaprio. It's not just Kendrick. Mariah is 0-for-8 in the big three. Kanye is about the same. Eminem has a lot of losses in the general categories. I don't understand this show. Sometimes they award Beck AOTY and other times they award the same artist the 3 big categories. It's all about the competition/groupings. Hip-hop has a tough time getting recognized as it is, but when multiple nominees are 'urban' they will split the votes and something more mainstream will certainly win. Additionally, many of the voters are actual musicians (as in, the musicians paid to play on albums and such). They understandably lean more toward music that uses musicians as opposed to producer-driven music. So, when you have a case like this year where Kendrick and Jay-Z likely split votes, it helps Bruno win (though he probably would have anyway). When you have only one rock/alt act nominated against pop and R&B acts, that one rock/alt act is likely to win (see Beck, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, etc).

It's funny how 24K was slept on when it first came out... Yes, and even funnier how he just released a remix to a song on the album after a failed single... and now watch them re-release Versace and then another song... and both will smash. A master class in bought-and-paid-for era recovery? or all the stars aligning? You decide. ;)

How the f**k did s**tty ass vocals win that category? Not sure if this is the first time you have watched the Grammys or if you are unfamiliar with how the categories work, but Best Pop Solo Performance has NEVER been about the actual quality of the vocals. For the record, neither is the Best Pop Vocal Album.

Still can’t get over the fact that they had the whitest band from one of the whitest countries in the world do a performance beneath the Statue of Liberty in honor of Dreamers and the struggle of immigrants and undocumented citizens. Should've been Despacito imo.

Lorde deserved to be visibly pissed off tonight. How you gonna tell her she can't perform solo but you got Sting and Bono's ass all over the telecast being dry?

Eminem never winning AOTY is. Travesty in itself. But the committee was probably scared enough nominating him At that time. A lot Of his hype happened even before 9/11 and the world was such a different place.
