No surprise about DS from me...I knew from the start that it would not place nearly as well overall as it did in my own rankdown. At least it's not bottom half? Never got why they chose to release this instead of "Let Me Down." They should have capitalized on the positive reaction to LMD's leak and rush-released it as the lead. That song was explosive and they knew the title track was going to smash no matter when it was released; why would you pass up a 1-2 punch? They insisted on going with the 'slow burn' approach with MKIA for some reason. MKIA feels more like an era closer than opener to me. Dark Side made sense...at the end of March, when WDKY had definitely peaked and there was still time to squeeze in a spring single before moving on to something more upbeat for the summer. Instead they waited until effing June. The two bits of TV promo she had done for the song were back in May and not enough to carry it. And I suspect the label did not even care much b/c they were already checked out on the era as a whole and had their sights set on the GH that would be coming in the fall. Timing and adaptability don't seem to ever have been RCA's strong suit. Regardless of DS's floppage I am so very glad they chose that over I Forgive You, the other song that a lot of fans were rooting for. IFY always gave me IDNHU vibes. It is criminal that WA was released as a single over "Addicted." I have always believed releasing Addicted would have made people more receptive to the My December, because people would have been acclimated with 'dark' Kelly. Kind of ironic that Kelly pulled away from it b/c she felt it would be too heavy following BTHE and BOY. It didn't need to be either/or either, she could have gone six singles deep.

Pleasantly surprised about Dark Side. I remember it being whored as the best thing ever when Stronger came out. I really thought I was the only one who thought it was basic. Also pleasantly surprised Never Again is still in. Hoping for a top ten placement!

I remember liking Dark Side but I can't really remember why? It's pretty forgettable.
Mr. Know It All is fine. I liked it a lot at the time and it holds up decently.
Walk Away I just don't get the apparent hate? It's a jam, and at the time it felt much bigger than it's #12 peak would suggest. I think it was a dumb move not to do a fifth single anyways, as Addicted, Gone and You Found Me all felt like hits IMO.

Songs in this block are so far within 5 spots of my personal ranking. But But Where the F is Never Again??!!! That's a surprise! Definitely never thought it was that earth-shattering as some people thought at that time... how is it so far ahead of UTT is quite astonishibg

I didnt expect "Underneath the Tree" so well ranked.
"A Moment Like This" I thought would be Top10.
I love the lyrics of "Dark Side" I wish it had taken Top10.
"Mr Know it All" has been such a nice jam until nowadays.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see "Dark Side" make it as high as #15. I knew full well when I ranked it at #1 that my #1 pick would probably not make it even close to the end!
Also, LOL at the fact that it is one of her low-impact singles. I still hear that song very frequently in public... Like, recently I was walking around in a mall and "Dark Side" started playing over the speakers throughout the entire building. It was EPIC! And not to mention all the restaurants I've heard it in, times I've randomly heard it on the radio, heard people playing it in their cars, etc. Maybe I'm the only one for whom this happens, but to me it feels like one of her biggest hits!

Walk Away I just don't get the apparent hate? It's a jam, and at the time it felt much bigger than it's #12 peak would suggest. I think it was a dumb move not to do a fifth single anyways, as Addicted, Gone and You Found Me all felt like hits IMO. I don't know if hate is the word I'd give to WA. I think fans just got very tired with her performing it alllllllll the time. Every concert, every mini-event, every Microsoft Store opening, Kelly was going to bring out WA. It's probably because she didn't get to promote it much during its chart run, and the song is one of her more upbeat 'fun' numbers to sing, but we'd all be like 'um, ok sis but can you not rotate that slot in your show with some of your other songs that you don't sing as much??? Can we get a MD track? Another crazy cover? ANYTHING BUT ANOTHER DAMN WALK AWAY OMGGGGGG' When she announced she was going on SNL we joked she was probably going to sing MKIA and WA. I'm pleasantly surprised to see "Dark Side" make it as high as #15. I knew full well when I ranked it at #1 that my #1 pick would probably not make it even close to the end! Also, LOL at the fact that it is one of her low-impact singles. Great minds think alike And I have noticed there are certain songs that end up doing this for some reason - they have low-impact runs, but end up becoming quiet staples after the fact. Adele's Rumor Has It is another one - it's basically a gold on the AC stations here. You'd never know that it wasn't as big a hit as the other three singles from 21.

I'm honestly just more annoyed that it's placing lower than MLWSWY.
I'm also surprised that CMB edged it out. Wasn't expecting that to be a dark horse candidate for top 10.

With the point gap between this and #10? Trust me one extra list wouldn't have done s**t.

To be fair I think it was the later lists that tanked 'Sober'. For a while both it and 'Never Again' were dancing around a top 10 position but then they just got cut off.

Damn @ "Never Again" just missing the Top 10. There goes my #1. :'(
Pretty strong Top 10 though. I'm gonna make predictions for fun on how I think it'll shake out:
01. Behind These Hazel Eyes 02. Since U Been Gone 03. Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) 04. Already Gone 05. Because of You 06. Breakaway 07. My Life Would Suck Without You 08. Miss Independent 09. Catch My Breath 10. Piece by Piece

OMG CATCH MY BREATHE MADE TOP 10! I thought it was hated because the lists I got for the 2013 Rankdown so far implied that Now now CMB stans, please send your list in to save it on the rankdown, it's barely top 80 now

I just LOVE the top 10. I'd love to see "Never Again" in the top 10 though
1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11,23!!! All of the songs in my top 11 deserve the #1 spot. I think one of my #2-#4 has this easily. That would probably be the top 3 too.
Sam, a top 15 for Kelly is coming (haven't done anything yet, I hope there aren't many songs I like more than CMB).
