El Dorado is the eleventh album of Colombian singer and songwriter Shakira, which will be released on May 26. The album includes the singles "Chantaje", which features Maluma, and "Me Enamoré", as well as "La Bicicleta" with Carlos Vives, "Deja Vu" with Prince Royce and "Comme Moi" with Black M.

Weird title but I loved Chantaje and Me Enamore so I'm looking forward to this. I don't think I've ever liked two Shakira singles in a row this much since Donde Estan Los Ladrones? or Laundry Service (three singles if you count La Bicicleta)

Is she bathing in milk on that cover??? ok...
Is this going to be a Spanish or English album? Or both?

Considering the first 2 singles have been Spanish only, I'd assume it's going to be a mostly Spanish album

It's going to be a mostly Spanish album, with three songs (or four depending of "Trap") in English ("When a Woman", "Coconut Tree" and "What We Said") and one in French/English ("Comme Moi").

Excited for this! But tbh a tour announcement is what I want from her.

Hopefully Trap is another jam on the level of Chantaje. The tracklist is actually pretty weird, considering Deja Vu, Comme Moi and La Bicicleta have been out for ages and she's not technically the lead on any of them.

I'm really hoping the album is more like Sale el Sol than Shakira.

I'm hoping they are new cuts with her doing added verses. Something similar to what Beyonce did with Hollywood even though it was on JAY's album first on Kingdom Come. Knowing Shakira they probably won't be because she pulled this stunt with She Wolf on the US edition. Why did I need 3 versions of Did It Again?!

"Nada" (Audio)
This is so good and it reminds me to her old stuff.

The graphic design and inclusion of a bunch of collabs feels lazy...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Trap is a translation of chantaje That would have been good when the song was around #50 on the Hot 100 and needed that extra push to go top 40, but now it'd be pretty pointless.

The graphic design and inclusion of a bunch of collabs feels lazy... Just that feels lazy? I'm not too tough on her because she always said she wanted a family. Most people close to her knew that once she had a family that it would dominate everything else. But, even I'm surprised by how much she ignores her career nowadays. The last time Shakira performed with new choreography was in 2012 for Dare. Since then its been just acoustic performances, and rare ones. At this point, I'm pretty sure we will just get music from her, and just on rare occasions. During the last last era, the Shakira era, she used the tour as an excuse to get out of doing the voice. She then got pregnant and used the pregnancy to get out of going on tour. Then she got what she wanted, which was to stay home with Pique and her family. Fast forward a few years and she has several performances planned. Milan (her son) gets sick and she has to cancel everything. Now this era, Pique (her boyfriend) is now sick. She's back in Spain already with the album being released on Friday. We got close to zero promo. During the Shakira era The Grammy's lined up perfectly for CRTFY promo. Rhianna said yes to performing with her, yet Shakira said no and stayed in Spain to watch Pique play soccer. Now this new era, the Billboard awards were on the week of her album release. The label probably did that on purpose, yet Shakira left to Spain to chill with friends and family. At this point, even Janet Jackson does more promo than Shakira. She says she's going to tour this year, but I bet she's going to get pregnant again. She tends to get pregnant before tours. All that being said, I respect that she highly values her family and always puts them first. I'll just enjoy the music and leave it at that.

I mean, she's a legacy act outside of the Latin market. She couldn't do a major arena tour now if she wanted to.

I mean, she's a legacy act outside of the Latin market. She couldn't do a major arena tour now if she wanted to. Latin artists tour Latin America plus parts of the US that have lots of Latinos. She could include Latin America, US (LA FL, NY, TX), Spain + select Euro dates. That's not a major tour, but big enough... too big Shakira would most likely say nowadays. People close to her say she wants a short tour with long breaks in between. She says she's going to tour, but I'll be shocked if they can get her to tour. I expect her to get pregnant again.

Album is out now!
So Trap is not an english version of Chantaje.
Toneladas is beautiful I would say my favorite out of the few songs we had not already heard.

Just first impressions of the songs that haven't been officially released for months:
Nada is good but lacks punch. When A Woman is awful on first listen except the bridge Amarillo sounds like an Oreja De Van Gogh song to me. Not bad, just kind of there Perro Fiel sounds like a Nicky Jam song featuring Shakira, not the other way around Trap...hard pass Coconut Tree. Shakira, pick a metaphor and go with it Shakira. Lyrics are an absolute mess. This weirdly feels like an Alizee song to me? What We Said is totally unnecessary. After Comme Moi, this feels like a demo. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the demo Toneladas sounds like something else too. Probably the best of the nonsingles. but then it just...ends?
I dont know what to make of this album. It's disjointed thematically and sonically. I'm just not sure what she was going for with this, but it's a pretty weak offering IMO

Not bad, but reminds me of LeAnn Rimes' "I Need You" compilation that she had no hand in

It is sort of a collection of songs... She's been very honest about it she felt like making a full albun was like climbing the Everest so she worked on one song at a time and released many of them before this collection of songs was ready. She's got two kids now and her priorities have changed. I'm happy we have new music from her. It's not my favorite album oh hers but I like quite a few songs.

I'm just not sure what she was going for with this, but it's a pretty weak offering IMO I think it's actually the most consistent Shakira album since DELL in terms of sound. Even the non-reggaeton songs like Coconut Tree and Amarillo have a bright summery sound that fit with the rest of the album. I think you can still tell this was kind of thrown together and probably would've worked best as an EP instead of trying to make it into a full album. When A Woman is my highlight so far. I think she should do a basic video on the beach and get this out there. It wouldn't be a big hit but would get her out there to some other markets.

I agree, I think an EP would have been a better route than hobbling together a bunch of other artists' singles and pretending like it was a complete body of work.
I mean, what is the point of the 3 English songs? It's like they were just leftovers from some aborted project and stuck on to try to make it sell outside of the Latin Market. None of them are going to be singles obviously. The English songs should have just been done as a stand alone EP (with something better as a single)
