Lola Montez is just a catchy fucking song. Definitely one of the poppier Volbeat songs, but fuck it's memorable

I'm late to this but I'll try to address some of the results. First off I'm really salty Romantic Dreams fell just short of the top 10, it came so close and thought it had a good shot at making it that far. I'm super annoyed TITT only made 7, especially when so many people ranked it up so high. I guess I can see why it's so polarizing but ugh :/
On the bright side I'll take WAW as our winner again, and WOW at that massive margin of victory! Congrats to it for being the first two time rankdown winner! Glad it beat FIO, not a massive fan of that one, though I wish OOTB beat that. Seeing My Demons up so high was a nice surprise, and I really did enjoy most of the top 10.
Anyways this was a fun rankdown and I look forward to the 2013 alt one! That was a weird year for alternative.

So much bias against Alt... Because there's nothing about 2010s Alternative that rocks, aside from bands that established themselves on Alternative in the 1990s and 2000s. That's why.

Glad Seether won in the end. I didn't even know it was that popular on here. No low rankings (bottom half) is pretty incredible, and seems to be quite essential for a song to hit the top spot. Many thanks Daryl the Beryl for flawlessly hosting yet again. As ever, would love to participate again if there are any plans of doing 2013.

I've been away all weekend, so time to catch up!
---
#45: Right after I remarked that my #2 was still alive, there it went. "Breaking Skin" kicks ass!
#43: The new vocalist for Three Days Grace took some getting used to, but once I got past that, I liked the sound of "Painkiller." There's a bit of a haunting quality to it that I like in a song.
#42: Nickelback rocks, and everybody who hates them for fun can kiss my ass. Bands that actually are shitty don't sell 30,000,000 albums. Glad to see "Edge Of A Revolution" in the top half.
#38: Some of Theory Of A Deadman's songs are stupid, but "Drown" is not one of them. It's actually one of my five favorites of theirs. My five favorite Theory Of A Deadman songs are:
1. "So Happy" 2. "Angel" 3. "All Or Nothing" 4. "Make Up Your Mind" 5. "Drown"
(Honorable mentions: "Not Meant To Be" and "Lowlife.")
#36: "Lazaretto" is a goofy song, and goofy songs can go either way with me. I like this one.
#35: "Heaven Knows" will be a classic in the future, and Taylor Momsen is pretty hot, but yeah, it did get overplayed, so I ended up ranking it lower for that.
#32: "Adrenaline" makes me want to drive illegal speeds on the Interstates. ROCK!
#31: "Always" is an excellent power ballad.
#30: "Not Gonna Die" is pretty good, but I had to dock points because it sounded derivative. "Awake And Alive" is great, but they didn't have to rewrite it.
#28: My favorite part of "Dead But Rising" is actually the chugging guitar intro. It makes me want to bang my head.
#27: Life was not very kind to me in the first half of this decade, so "Weak" was a good song for me in the context of the times. Everybody needs some melancholy songs in their collection anyway.
#24: "The Devil In I" kicks fucking ass! And I love the demented, demonic laugh at the end of the song! "See the devil in AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!"
#22: "Torn To Pieces" could be my favorite Pop Evil song of all. If it's not, then it's either "Last Man Standing" or "If Only For Now."
#21: "Can You Feel My Heart" is strange but awesome. I love the glitchy sound to the vocals, and I loved the way the instrumentation in the chorus swallowed me up when I heard it for the first time while I was driving my truck.
#20: "End Of Me" lasted longer than I thought it would. It's a great power ballad, and coming of age in the 1990s means that I'll always have a soft spot for songs with soft verses and loud choruses. I absolutely love the wall of sound in the chorus, and the way Jeremy McKinnon sang, "We lost the meaning / lost the magic / so good luck to you on your way..." caught my attention too.
#18: The chorus of "Cry For Achilles" sounds so fucking triumphant! This is Alter Bridge venturing into prog-rock territory with a song of this length and structural complexity.
#15: "Tired" was another song that perfectly captured my frame of mind at that time in my life. It's a song of longing and resignation, and my favorite part of all is the guitar solo, which can make your eyes water if you're not careful.
#13: "Sirens" is a soothing, pleasant listen.
#12: "Come With Me Now" is another goofy song that I like.
#10: Damn, I miss the old days, back when Linkin Park played rock music. It seems so long ago.
#8: "Room To Breathe"? Try room to fly. This song soars, and I love it.
#7: "This Is The Time (Ballast)" is another song that could qualify as prog-rock to me. The bridge of the song is especially interesting.
#6: "Lola Montez" gives me sort of a Night Ranger/'80s synth-metal vibe, which is fun to listen to.
#5: "Take Out The Gunman" just plain rocks. Even the screamed vocals kick ass, and I'm not usually a fan of screamed vocals.
#3: "My Demons" is another song that soars, especially in the chorus. The entire song has a tone of suspense.
#2: I love the steady, uptempo pace of "Figure It Out." It sounds a bit like "Radar Love" meets The White Stripes.
#1: WOWOWOW!!! My #1 was the overall #1! I never would have thought! Several days ago I predicted that it'd be in the top five, but I didn't think it'd be #1! Sweeet! By the way, "Same Damn Life" was my #1 in the 2015 Active Rock rankdown, so I love me some Seether!

If it has 80's glam ,hair or hard rock written all over it; I'm gonna place it high. I wouldn't expect anything less from you , when it comes to your Rock preferences.

And in Dr. Metal's next stage of metamorphosis, he starts to appreciate bands like Ded, takes "Anti-Everything" and "FMFY" to both #1, with the latter breaking DREAMCAR's 7-week-at-#1 record, and eventually charts the entire Mis-An-Thrope album by the end of 2018.
