Definitely correct. "Blue" is iconic!
Deana is a close second though.

I am going with Deana Carter. "Strawberry Wine" is a legit classic, and Carter's voice works perfect for the song.
Patty Loveless should have been nominated here for "A Thousand Times A Day" or especially "Lonely Too Long" over Mary Chapin Carpenter or Alison Krauss.

"Strawberry Wine" is one of the best and most iconic country songs of all time, so that with ease. "Blue" is great but it pales in comparison.

Deana Carter deserved it here. A close second would have been Trisha Yearwood. I think the Grammys went for the novelty that was LeAnn Rimes at the time.

I think the Grammys went for the novelty that was LeAnn Rimes at the time. They definitely did a bit, but at the same time Rimes does sound really good on "Blue," and the song itself appeased country purists at a time country-pop was on the rise. I get the success of "Blue" here, but "Strawberry Wine" is better.
