ANNOUNCEMENTResults will (finally) begin starting no later than 5 PM EST. Possibly earlier if I can swing it, otherwise count on a 5 PM start time.

It's oddly fitting that this song kicks off our Rankdown of 2012's biggest hits. This song is the one and only to not even reach the Top 30 on the Hot 100 at any point yet still rank in Billboard's Top 100 of the year. It went to #36 there for two weeks and finished #92 for the year. Here - evidently we've chosen this one as the most creatively bankrupt:

Those of you who guessed this next song would have the lowest "max" ranking in the Rankdown - good guess. For a while, this was the leader in that. Then came a #25 ranking, which pushed it out. Coming up later in this hour is the one and only song to receive not even one Top 30 ranking - meanwhile, here at #99 is the runner-up for lowest rank, and also the runner-up for lowest standard deviation (behind only the same non-Top 30 song):

LOL jtd Thee Stallion lost his 11 first in 2013 rankdown too and the 2nd highest rank was barely top 50 in both.

That moment when no one ranked the #99 song last. :O Anyways, not my first choice of bottom 2 but I'm not complaining either since they're either in or almost in my bottom 10.

I will also mention, the three songs with the lowest standard deviations in this rankdown will all be heard in this first hour. Actually, we've heard two already - "Cashin' Out" at #100 had the third-lowest. This next song, however, is not one of them, though it does hold another dubious distinction. This song finishes with the most #100 rankings - six of 'em! And six, is the number of times we'll hear from this woman in this Rankdown:

That's the one song in my bottom five that I expected to see this early. Not a moment too soon.

Great start! Birthday Cake was easily my #100. Rack City and Cashin' Out are two of the weaker urban tracks on the Year End.

We'll hear from the man in that song three more times - all three before we hear from Rihanna again even once!
But, up next: We've had our cake, so what better than a little somethin' somethin' to wash it down?

Not complaining but surprised at no top 10 ranks for "Birthday Cake".

Just read cash outs description, didn't heart attack peak at 35? It did. I glanced over my list too quickly. But "Cashin' Out" is still the lowest-peaking song to rank in Billboard's 2012 survey.

I hope nobody ranked "Heart Attack" without realizing that it's the Trey Songz song, not the Demi Lovato one.
