Even though this may be done on pop at least DJ Khaled and Rihanna get their second straight top 5 on pop while Bryson Tiller gets his first.

I still don't get why they released ITO and this so close to each other -- they basically just cannibalized each other and now Khaled's era might be over soonish since I don't know how many singles he has left in the pipeline.

I agree with you and the only thing I can think of is just for the hype and hype for the full cd.. It made me think the whole cd was going to have many songs like this and there's not really. I plucked just a few songs from his cd to add to playlists or buy.

I really don't get why ITO was able to reach #2 when this one appears to be peaking at #5. This one sounds more Pop-friendly (and is the better song by far) imo. Is Bieber that powerful?

I do like "despacito" and everything, but "wild thoughts" is definitely my song of the summer.

I think a part of it is this the second pop single (third radio single overall) so this had a bit less hype, whereas ITO has bigger names, wasn't much less pop friendly, and was the lead single. ITO could also still be getting some lingering airplay, cannibalizing this, which is another reason why sending out basically two singles at once was stupid.

But, he has been doing that his entire career. He basically has always only released one or two singles, pretty much back to back from all of his albums, which is also why he has essentially released a new album every year this decade. The only real difference this time, is that he's had crossover success. Don't know if that would really change how he's always promoted his music/albums, though.

Granted it was always a pretty stupid strategy, but now that he's having the biggest era of his career it's extra stupid since CHR is much more picky about what they play and tolerates playing multiple songs from an artist far less then Urban does.

In my opinion ITO is much a better song, more radio-friendly and it doesn't get "repetitive" as quick as Wild Thoughts, which is still a good song (thanks a lot Bryson Tiller). Also it features way more artists, it's not Bieber only. I hope their peaks will stay like this.

This had a great run. Now we just have to wait until Queen decides to release R9.

Idk about this argument. Pop has certainly supported two singles at once by an Artisit including Rihanna and Justin Bieber themselves. Pop might not do it to the extent urban does, but it certainly isn't impossible and with an act like DJ it probably matters even less since he barley contributes anything to the song anyway

It's amazing that's she's still able to get Top 5 hits on Pop with such Urban-influenced songs. Many of her peers who release actual pop music haven't made Top 10 in years.
