this is seriously one of my favorite songs ever by anyone so definitely my #1 and I was so happy at first that others loved it as much as me and then those few low rankings tanked it out of the Top 5 and won't lie I was really sad over that. Still I am glad it was Top 10 at the very least!
I had never heard this song before, but I liked it a good bit on first listen!
...You had never heard "Whatever You Say"??!!!! I find that incredibly weird... Lol that's like not being familiar with Faith Hill's "If My Heart Had Wings". Although WYS was definitely the bigger hit out of the two

Yeah, about that...
LMAO I guess when you say 2004 is when you started listening to country music, that must REALLY be your starting point!

Lol it really was. Over the years I've become familiar with some earlier singles from the bigger artists, but tbh Faith and Martina are not two of my favorites so I don't know much of their earlier material unless it's just truly iconic (This Kiss, Independence Day, Breathe, A Broken Wing).
We've got another divisive one coming up at #26! 3rd highest SD is lost next and I lose another top 10... Y'all did this one dirty too.
Are you punishing all the others in the Disney rankdown that have not been graced with Martina's presence by posting the rest of the results here in the Martina rankdown?

that's what I get for having multiple tabs open at once. #TooManyRankdowns

Just yes to you guys who ranked "Wrong Again" number 1. I'm not alone in that thinking. It's my favorite too. I feel like this is very forgotten about single and am actually surprised it made it this far.

2 ~ This Uncivil War
Album: Emotion Track #12 Written by: Gretchen Peters
" There's a silence on the front lines You can cut it with a knife You can stay and take your chances Or you can run to save your life And one side is retreating And the other's runnin' scared And the drums of war are beating Ever through it's undeclared
And both sides say they're winning And both sides know they're losing And neither one knows what they're fighting for And in the quiet little places You can see the little faces Huddled right outside the bedroom door Praying for an end to this uncivil war"

Emotion
11 ~ “Love’s The Only House” 21 ~ “I Love You” 43 ~ “It’s My Time” 44 ~ “There You Are” 47 ~ “From The Ashes”
Album Tracks:
2 ~ “This Uncivil War” 3 ~ “Make Me Believe” 9 ~ “Anything’s Better Than Feeling The Blues” “Goodbye” “For The Love of A Woman” “I Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere”
"When God-Fearin' Women..." - OMG I can't believe this one is the first to go out of the top 10. This song is a jam and a half! The fiddle and beat are infectious as heck, and HOW ABOUT ALL THAT DOBRO!!!!! One of my very favorite Martina songs, because it stands out so much from the rest of her "modern" output. Martina calls this type of music head-bangin' hillbilly, and I 100% agree. Not to mention the melody is so easy to get stuck in your head...
"Whatever You Say" - STOP. I thought this song was a lock for the top 5! This song is such a perfect representative of Martina's vocal style, and I love pretty much everything about it. Interestingly enough, she mentioned in the Greatest Hits booklet that she doesn't like to listen to her vocals on the studio version of this song because she didn't think they were good enough. Suuuuuure
"Wrong Again" - I am so glad this song held on this long! I was not really sure how this one would fare, because it is definitely one of her most often forgotten hits. I cannot believe that this song was a #1, considering it has almost no legacy now other than among a few devoted fans! Her vocals to this song are better than average, which is really saying something.
And then we come to "This Uncivil War"... This is honestly my go-to song whenever I get new headphones or new speakers or something and I want to test out how they sound The production on this song is the epitome of flawless.
Here is a list of some of the things I love about this song:
-The mess of violins at the beginning of the song. -The civil war drumline that springs out of the violins. -The fact that every single lyric perfectly builds into the overall metaphor of the song. -The penny whistle "Amazing Grace" solo that closes out the song. -The depiction of how literally everybody loses when a relationship is in trouble. -Seriously, this opening line. "There's a silence on the front lines. You can cut it with a knife. You can stay and take your chances, or you can run to save your life." -The way that line is repeated again all softly at the end of the song, only to build up into some huge crescendoing orchestra finale. -THE CELLOS AT THE END OF THE FIRST CHORUS!!! -The way the verses are soft and the choruses are loud, but you can still hear every note of every instrument throughout the entire song. No overproduction whatsoever. -The way the instrumentation and production all work together to enhance all the best parts of Martina's voice and really connect to the emotional aspects of the song. -The fact that this is written from the perspective of children... :( (This is pretty much the same theme as Carrie's "Little Toy Guns", only done WAY more epically imo).
I should have ranked this as my #1 album track... Lol

Me after waking up and seeing wrong again is out
I love this song very much - music, lyrics and the fact that she says wrong again in the end (the positive message). I was hoping for top 5 but i guess you can't always get what you want.

Shine
Released: March 24, 2009
Tracklisting: 1 ~ "Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong” 2 ~ “I Just Call You Mine” 3 ~ “Sunny Side Up” 4 ~ “Walk Away” 5 ~ “I’m Trying” 6 ~ “What Do I Have To Do” 7 ~ “Don’t Cost A Dime” 8 ~ “Ride” 9 ~ “You’re Not Leaving Me” 10 ~ “Wild Rebel Rose” 11 ~ “Lies”
iTunes Bonus Track 12 ~ “I Can’t Stop Loving You”
This album saw 3 singles released: "Ride", “I Just Call You Mine”, and "Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong"
The track “I’m Trying” has been recorded by a few other artist prior to Martina. First by Kevin Sharp on his 1998 album Love Is and later by Diamond Rio for their One More Day album. Diamond Rio’s version was a duet with Chely Wright
With Martina’s previous album she started writing for the first time ever. This album continued it with the song “Sunny Side Up” being co-written by her.
This would be Martina’s final studio album release with RCA Records
The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and became her 4th album to do so and made her the first female country singer to release three #1 albums consecutively
Also, "Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong" had to beat out some VERY iconic songs to get to this #7 placement... If that isn't a damning indictment of the way country radio has treated Martina McBride this decade, I don't know what is. The fact that a group of fans and non-fans could collectively rank that song the 7th best out of her entire career, yet radio couldn't play it into the top 10, is absolutely pitiful. I will admit she hasn't always delivered with recent albums, but in this case, the material was there and country radio stuck their heads up their asses in the sand, just like usual.

Does anybody else associate the "Wrong Baby Wrong" video with silly bands (like the stretchy braclets in different shapes and such). That's literally on my mind every time I see the video and I feel like instantly transported back to being like 15. I see the silly bands in the video and then I'm just filled with nostalgia.
