Sounds good, I'm curious how he does with the state of urban right now though.

I'm sure I'll love it but I'm not hopeful about how he'll do at Urban now with his traditional sound.

I'm sure I'll love it but I'm not hopeful about how he'll do at Urban now with his traditional sound. I agree, but at the same time I'm slightly more hopeful thanks to the success of songs like "Location" and "That's What I Like." Hopefully the perfect storm of a solid lead single (with a remix?) and a slight shift on the format means better luck than last time. On the other hand, the fact that he hasn't been Top 10 at Urban since 2013? is a strike against him.

So, it looks like the song I posted is no longer the lead single. A new song with Travi$ Scott called "Sky Walker" is available internationally on all digital platforms right now. I'm not blown away, but it's not bad.

I like it enough. I prefer the song that was teased, but this is good too.
This is definitely more radio friendly coming from him.

I like this. The production has that smooth mid-90's LA feel updated for the trap era. Travis and Miguel flow naturally together.
But lyrically? Miguel is above the overused "everyday like our birthday" cliche and using names like Luke Skywalker as a verb.

Absolety love it! Miguel killed it as well as Travis did.
Guess Miguel just moved from psychodel rock to trap.

I love how he named this after a strain of weed and it's 4:20 in length. New stoner anthem!

This is pretty lazy. It's not terrible, however he could've put forth more effort.

Yeah he definitely took the path of least resistance to a radio hit. He could have at least tried to write better lyrics, but at least it sounds nice.

This is weak.
I'm glad it's actually listenable unlike most of his last album.
But this would honestly be a bonus track at best on Bruno's last album.
Maybe it'll grow.

This is boring. He really needed to come back swinging. It's been awhile since his last hit already.

I like. Sure, he's had much better but if this can get him a hit then why not?
I'm sure the album will have better to offer.

Listening again after the clarity of a full night's sleep. I like this even more now.
I went back and listened to the clip in the beginning of the thread too. I agree that's the better song - but I think a song like "Sky Walker" is necessary as an icebreaker. Even after "Location," "Redbone," etc Urban radio was NEVER going to jump into a soulful, R&B vocal driven song from an artist who many only see as "popular a few years ago." But "Sky Walker" bridges the gap between Miguel's signature style and what's in right now. It's got a hypnotic, easygoing flow and if it skims the top 10 at Urban with Travis' help, his second single will actually have a chance.

This is hot as fuck. One of his best singles to date. Reminds me of some of the unappreciated southern hip hop of the 90s.
