Interesting. I think there will be one stand-out and the rest will be kind of mediocre I could be wrong though!

Didn't she first announce "Nervous System" as an album?

Didn't she first announce "Nervous System" as an album? No, I believe it was originally announced as an EP but then when "Issues" took off, they decided to do a full album rather than just an EP. Maybe they ran out of time and realized they need to get the product out there, so they're just going with the best tracks they have.

I'm seeing her being another Sevyn Streeter who wastes all the buzz of a hit single on an EP.

What a strong "mini-album". She should have just tacked on a few more for a full-length, but whatever.
"Make It Up To You" and "Pink" could both be good future singles to increase the tempo a little and give her image some sass.

#19 on iTunes. I thought a $6 EP would get her closer to, if not, top-10.

There's nothing serviceable to radio on here but if she can build anew online following I could see her come back with something more accessible

Pink & Make It Up To You sound plenty serviceable to radio to me. Uh Huh is a solid wildcard, and I commend her for going for something different for the follow up single as opposed to Issues 2.0 (which 95% of new artists would have done).

Just listened to this and I pretty much agree with everyone else that Pink and Make It Up to You are the standouts, but I can also hear why Uh Huh seemed like the best choice as a second single, especially given the timing of the release. The hook is obvious (albeit polarizing) and it's in the same ballpark as Issues's sound without actually being Issues 2.0, as Jack pointed out. Just Do It, OTOH, is the Issues 2.0 and I would guess that's what they have on reserve in case Uh Huh fails. Pink is risky even even with the lyrics being so carefully written to not be raunchy and MIUTY is musically very subtle (even more so than the minimalist production on Issues and JDI) which makes me think it would have a hard time catching people's ears while competing against a bunch of uptempo summer or early fall releases. I could see it faring better in late fall or winter when the tempo of radio in general has slowed down.
Worst In Me and Don't Wanna Think do nothing for me unfortunately. DWT in particular pushes her 'squeaky' voice from "hmm, interesting tone" to "extremely grating" territory very quickly.

MIUTY is her reclaiming her time sound from Selena, particularly with the sighs, ad-libs, and singing style. If Selena can have hits with Julia's sound, Julia herself should be able to, particularly coming off of her own hit Issues. As for DWT pushing her into "extremely grating" territory...well...have you ever tried to sing along with Uh-Huh's chorus without sounding like your voicebox is being clawed out of your throat? If so, please provide audio. As much as I love Uh-Huh, those vocals are the definition of polarizing, even more so than Issues.

If so, please provide audio. As much as I love Uh-Huh, those vocals are the definition of polarizing, even more so than Issues. I have such a low/soft voice it's probably physically impossible for me to ever push my vocals enough to sound like that. At most I would probably sound more like the baby in Aaliyah's Are You That Somebody (which now that I think about it, might have been the effect Julia was going for but she overshot the force of her voice). But no I will not provide audio. I'm trying to be a better person in 2017 and torturing you with my baby voice isn't exactly the best way to go about that effort lol That aside, the way the hook in Uh Huh is grating is the entire song for DWT for me. Uh Huh just has that Blow Your Mind (Mwah) problem where it's an otherwise solid song with one potentially annoying inflection that I might be able to get past after a while. But for her to sing a whole song like that...no thanks. I do agree that MIUTY is very much a 'taking back' her sound from Selena. Arguably this whole EP could be that, but MIUTY is definitely the most Selena-esque of the bunch. Still, something about the production is a bit muted, for lack of a better word. It would stand out more if it were stripped down a couple layers so the various percussion elements could pop at different moments. (Mind you, I love the 'muted' effect, I am just not sure how well it would go over at radio.)

OK, but can we agree that MIUTY is the CATCHIEST thing on the EP because I don't see how that is even debatable. Pop fans LOVE repetition.

Pink actually annoys me. The only other song I know named Pink is the one by Aerosmith, which is easily my least favorite of their songs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do like the "HOO-UGH" sound she makes in that song though and the lyrics are clever as fuck. I think it's really that dated, one-hit wonder 90s production vibe the song gives me.
MIUTY came on my phone an hour or so ago when I was at peak work stress and I found myself singing it out loud. I am obsessed with the chorus. OBSESSED!

Listening to DWT again and it's beautiful. Also, it's not like her voice squeaks throughout the song at all. She is actually really restrained in this song. There are a few moments but they are well-placed. I also love the lyrics. I definitely like this way more than Pink. It's probably my 3rd favorite after Issues and Make It Up To You.
