They were absolutely wrong! Loretta was robbed of this award, for a much lesser song (which I like, don't get me wrong, but come on)!

"Redneck Woman" by a landslide.

"Redneck Woman" definitely made the biggest impact on the industry, so it's a deserved victory. But I have to give this to Martina, for the emotional impact of her song as well as the emotions that you can feel through her vocal performance. Honestly though, I don't even know the Alison Krauss song, and I'm not the biggest fan of any of the rest of them...

Loretta's cuts to the bone whenever I hear it and it's such a gorgeously produced and written song, she hands down takes it for me.
Alison & Martina both come in close second with amazing vocals and very great songs as well.
Gretchen's is really fun and I'm not mad it won but it's easily 4th place here for me.
Blah to Shania's honestly one of her worst singles.

The Martina snubs continue although most times she's nominated there are better songs in her category

"Redneck Woman" hasn't aged well for me so I went with Loretta. I would've liked to have seen "Break Down Here" by Julie Roberts or "Me and Emily" by Rachel Proctor sneak in a nomination.

Most of Martina's best songs did not get nominated unfortunately. I do feel that Loretta should have won here. The fact that Gretchen Wilson won a grammy for Redneck Woman when Martina's many hits (Independence Day, A Broken Wing, Where Would You Be, Anyway)
Loretta's song is just so honest and real. She is incredible on it. I Believe she won album that year though but she should have had this one as well!

Loretta Lynn was robbed here. Otherwise, Martina McBride would have been an excellent choice.
