You need to remove me from the first quote right now, Will. You know for a fact that I'd rank FAD top ten in just about any other rankdown.

Midnight Oil played in my country last month, and we had lunch at the venue they were playing at, with commercials starting with the song's intro. Never listened to the song all the way until this rankdown admittedly, but it was a nice discovery that was enough to enter my top 10. Space Dementia, Siberia and Do the Revolution are three of my other favorite discoveries from this rankdown.

It's go time, boys and girls.
We kick off the top ten...with #3. Okay, not really, we're starting with the predictable #10. :kii: #10 is the first of four songs to be in the top ten for the entire ranking process. This song was never really a serious #1 contender, but it never seemed to be in danger of falling out of the top ten...until the very end, when it received its only bottom ten ranking. On the other hand, this song received seven top ten rankings and thirteen top twenty rankings. Those of you who did the top ten survey thought this song would be much higher. Instead, it's the first of the top ten to fall.

Great song. I'm happy that it end up in top 10. I also like Nirvana version of this song from MTV Unplugged.

#9 was another nice surprise, a song that didn't get into the top ten until 2/3 of the way through the ranking process..but, once it got to the top ten, it did not let go. This song only has two bottom ten rankings (though both in those posters' bottom fives), while seven posters placed this song in their top ten. One person, in particular, is not going to be happy about this reveal, as they lose their #1.

Holy cow, I haven't posted in awhile! Here are some random thoughts, in no particular order: "Fancy" is out a little bit earlier than I had hoped, but then again it did great considering how many people wanted it to be #40! However, let me just go on the record and say that that is honestly nowhere near my favorite Reba song... "Fancy" is probably in the back half of her singles for me. That video though!! #iconicashell "Pyramids" - I thought this one would have a lot of potential, because I have heard a lot of good things about it through the years. However, I just could not get into this at all. I could barely understand a word that was being said, and I was staring at the lyrics while I listened to it! Plus I second the sentiment that it was way too long. "Bug Eyes" - I am sad to see the lack of love for this one! I thought the lead vocalist of Dredg had a really pleasant voice, which helped me to really enjoy the song. "The Trees" - Also sad with how this one ended up. This one was so whimsical; I loved the lyrics! They had a pretty good message for the world, and it had a very pleasing melody and instrumental to accompany the lyrics, so this song was a winner in my book. "Hallelujah" - The lead singer of Paramore has such an amazing voice! Vocally and image-wise, she reminded me a lot of Avril Lavigne. That being said, I didn't think this song was super special. But I still enjoyed it quite a bit, and I feel like that is a group I have a lot of potential to enjoy if I check out more of their stuff in the future. "Innuendo" - Typically I have a lot of good things to say about Queen, but this song was a first-time listen for me, and it really didn't do anything for me. They are still one of my favorite rock bands though. "Beds Are Burning" - OMG WTF is this song! It was almost immediately a bottom-5 for me, just because of how weird it is. Seriously, the way the lead singer moves his mouth makes him look like some kind of muppet or something, and he sounds like an impressionist doing a purposely bad impression of somebody doing a bad impression. And then there's the dancing! Yikes! ...And then I realized that I was thoroughly entertained, and the song has a really cool vibe if you get past the lead singer... And then I ended up putting it in the top 10 That's enough for now. I've gotta stop typing so I can watch the top 10 reveal!

what's wrong with Beds are Burning lol If that is in response to me, I pretty much explained what my thoughts were while listening to it. Haha it was just SO weird, with the odd pronunciations and the terrible dancing, it was hard to take it seriously! But then I grew to love it and put it in the top 10, so imo there is absolutely nothing wrong with it Edit: LOL just read your edit

If you thought that #10 was a surprise, wait until you see #8. This is a song many thought would be in contention for the top 5, or perhaps even higher...and, for a while, it looked like it could be a contender to do just that. Around the midway point, though, it settled into a fringe top ten area and never really did much better than that. With this song, we lose two bottom tens, but, more importantly, we lose six top tens, including two #2s and *gulp* yet another #1.

definitely recognize the impact and influence of The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson's forward-thinking production, but just listening to the songs outside of that lens of thinking I've never been a fan.

Good Vibrations is a bonafide classic, and I still could only rank it #36. I wasn't kidding when I said this was a great selection of songs.

I have always found The Beach Boys to be one of the most overrated musical acts of all time... I am pretty much always annoyed when I listen to more than one of their songs at a time. And I'm not even sure what it is about them, but they just tend to rub me the wrong way.

#7 was actually close to being outside of the top ten more often than it was in the top ten, at one point being out of the top ten for ten consecutive rankings. Eventually, though, it got enough support to find itself close to the middle of the top ten, which is about where I expected it to be. Three people lose a bottom ten here, while seven more posters lose a top ten (including two #3 losses)...and that list of top ten losses includes me. And I was so close to a perfect ranking, too...

While "Good Vibrations" is the first song I ever fell in love with, I also prefer "God Only Knows" and think that it's one of the best compositions of the 1960's. This would also qualify for that distinction...

Unlike some people, I'm actually not surprised that #6 wound up performing as well as it did. What IS surprising is how long it took to get into the top ten. It didn't break into the top ten until the midway point of the process...and, even then, it seemed like a fringe top ten candidate...up until the last couple of rankings pushed it into the top ten for good. Two people lose bottom tens here (both clearing their bottom tens), while six people lose top tens...but one loses a #3, one loses a #2, and not one, but TWO people lose a #1.

"God Only Knows" is one of the best songs I have heard from them, but I still find something off-putting about it. I think I just don't like their voices, honestly. I don't know, I can't put my finger on it! "God Only Knows" would have definitely placed higher on my list than "Good Vibrations" did. Probably in my top 15
