That being said, whoever takes over the 2023 Country Rankdown needs to commit to actually hosting it! You have to post reveals regularly and give it your all, and make sure that it actually gets done! So many country hosts these days are leaving their rankdowns abandoned for months, or even years. And that cannot happen with the modern year-end rankdown.
So let me know if you have any interest in hosting the year-end rankdown! I would like to help curate the list, but otherwise I'll be handing it off completely! However, I reserve the right to only hand it off to someone that I trust to get it done and make it fun :)

Congratulations on these really exciting things! Pulse is just a fun distraction, but you need to take care of your real life stuff. The beginning of a new school year is always super busy. I taught for 12 years and this is my third year as a principal and it never stops being so busy.
Definitely finish the album series if you can, but I would also suggest not adding anything new. Rankdown series take up so much time. All the best, and good luck with whatever comes next.

Not sure whether I make fun rankdowns per se, but at least I feel I am self-disciplined enough to get the 2023 Country rankdown done in a reasonable timeframe. And congratulations to your new stage of life bboat11, but I wonder how you can take a second job while being a teacher, in terms of technical feasibility and mental burden.

And congratulations to your new stage of life bboat11 , but I wonder how you can take a second job while being a teacher, in terms of technical feasibility and mental burden. Hahaha "fun" is all about the atmosphere that you create! Being inclusive of people who may not usually participate in country rankdowns, trying to act engaged by providing your own thoughts, responding to other people's thoughts, shading people in fun ways. Maybe occasionally providing hints if the opportunity ever presents itself. Also keeping a good enough pace so that people don't get bored! Rankdowns are seldom "fun" if the host seems disengaged. You've done other big rankdowns before, so you've got it pretty much down!
Since most people haven't had a chance to see this yet due to it being pretty late at night for most people, I do want to give a chance to see if anyone expresses interest tomorrow before I decide who is going to take over But consider yourself the first applicant if you'd like!
About the job, you are right that it would not be easy to take on a second job as a teacher... But it helps that I currently teach for an online school, lol! So it might actually be really good for my mental state if I was to do something that forces me to leave the house in the evenings! Not anything stressful like retail or food service... But maybe I could help stack books at a local bookstore or something like that could be fun. Or maybe my school district offers some type of after-school tutoring sessions? I'll have to look into it!
Or in a perfect world instead of getting a side hustle I could meet my future wife and become a two-income household. Wouldn't THAT be a revolutionary concept

bboat11 will be sad to see you host less but I get it. Life has to take priority over this website always. Also, I know I've been terrible at hosting as of late and will work on getting back to it soon.

Sad to see bboat11 is leaving as a host of my fav RD series since I joined here!! No only was he a fun host, but also he shares time zone with me, so it was easy to follow the reveal It is great hear that you are going into the next stage of your life though!! As much as I would be interested in hosting a big RD, February/March is not a good time for me to make such commitment, given my work. I do agree regarding the declining interest in RDs, considering the lack of participants in the game and participations during the reveal. I would still continue hosting a random album RD (opening one soon), Thomas Rhett series, and Canadian series, but definitely less frequently, given the circumstances.

bboat11 I want to congratulate you on your move and I hope things go great with your life moving forward!!! As someone who works in the food service field, I could not be more against you picking such a stressful environment as a second job outside of your equally-stressful job of teaching (especially five different subjects, one of which is an entirely different subject than you are perhaps passionate about), so I’m glad to hear you won’t be considering it. I would definitely be jealous if your second job turned out to be at a bookstore, lol. I want to work at one so badly. I feel like that would be a fantastic way to get connected to the publishing industry that would make things easier for me when I finally have a novel ready. To everyone else, I’ve been trying very hard to get my hosting duties back on track myself, and I’d like to say I’m doing at least an okay job, having finally started reveals for my 2022 year-end rankdown. I never anticipated that I would be still revealing those results in August of 2023, let alone beginning them in late July. As some of y’all might know, I moved into my first apartment last September, and this past year has been a very busy one, in which I’ve saved up as much as I can to furnish it. But that’s proven quite difficult, what with my car payments, the monthly light bill, and grocery expenses every month. Not to mention the elephant in that zoo, my rent! $630/month, moving up to $660/month upon the renewal of my lease once October rolls around. Basically…I’ve been in this apartment for a year, and still do not have a couch in my living room One thing that I haven’t revealed on Pulse is that I am officially in the process of becoming a manager where I work!!! I passed my ServSafe exam (it’s basically the food service industry’s version of a bar exam…you can’t really be an effective manager without passing that exam, as passing it proves your basic knowledge of food safety, and that you know how to ensure the quality of your food is safe for your customers to consume…hence the name ServSafe), and will be officially certified within the next week or so, I believe. I’m moving from the service areas to learning kitchen positions that I have never been placed in before, and I am learning all of the ropes of being an effective leader and overall good representative of the company I work under, and it’s been a great deal of studying. The job is so stressful already, that most days I have zero energy for Pulse. But that’s something I’m working on, as I said, and I will continue to try my best to be the kind of rankdown host I was a couple years ago. A host much like bboat11, who stuck to the deadlines, made it all fun, and had it finished within a reasonable timeframe. With that said, I am currently finishing my 2022 year-end rankdown, and immediately upon its completion, I am returning to The Judds. That album’s due date was supposed to be in the beginning of April, and I can’t believe I have done Naomi so dirty in that regard. Again, it was not something I ever anticipated, having rankdowns that took this long to complete. As soon as I continue with the Judds, I will continue on with LeAnn Rimes!!! She’s another one that has taken far too long to get through, and could’ve perhaps been done by now, so she’ll be next. Hell, I even have one more album rankdown for Adele to eventually launch. Among all of this, I am also hosting the 2023 PMA Awards, which I have two co-hosts for and will be brainstorming with them on VERY soon. I have a vivid vision for this show, and I want nothing more than for it to be realized to its fullest potential, so that will take up a lot of attention as well. In early 2024, I will still be launching my 2023 personal year-end rankdown, but rather than making it a 50-song rankdown, I think I’m going to figure out a new format for that list. I’ll then move on to Carrie Underwood’s Denim & Rhinestones. Also, at various points (beginning this fall, if I’m not mistaken), #TeamTaylor may or may not be making appearances again! After that, I quite honestly believe that I might also officially scale back from rankdown hosting entirely. The interest in Pulse’s country rankdowns has noticeably and dramatically decreased from its demand even just at the beginning of last year, and as a host (regardless of how well we’ve done ), it’s honestly quite de-motivating. That’s not to say I won’t try and continue to participate in as many rankdowns as I can, of course!! But one of the biggest goals I had for 2023 (having a novel fully written and revised enough to start exposing to literary agents) never happened, so in 2024, I will absolutely be scaling back my presence here, for at least enough time to finally have that book ready. Also, I think I need the time away, not only for my health, but also so I can start living my life a little more, and soaking up these 20s!!! I mean, I’m in my 20s in the 2020s!!! I’ll be crazy to have not taken advantage of that.

I am planning to open the 2023 YE Canadian Country RD as always around Halloween, in about 2 weeks. Not sure who the new host of the 2023 YE Country RD would be, but I am planning to continue the tradition to send the top 5 song from my RD to the bigger YE RD, and hoping that the new host would be fine with me finishing my RD around the end of the year. I hope to connect with the new host, once determined, to confirm that my hosting schedule would work out.

I forgot to announce publicly, but I will be the host for 2023 YE Country RD, and yes, I will keep the top 5 from YE Canadian Country RD in the main one. I will try to reduce the non-Canadian part to 95 songs though, for a total of 100 songs. That means I will do the 2023 YE Canadian Country RD to help pick the songs.

Since Billboard apparently decides to end the eligibility period of year-end charts earlier this year (from 11/19/2022 to 10/21/2023 to be exact), I think it would be interesting to put out a preview of songs featured in 2023 country rankdown based on this thread, and taking in consideration of (1) repeats from 2022 (2) likely to be ranked in 2024 and (3) too flop to make in the rankdown. The songs themselves are ordered by their positions in YE. Also, there will be some songs exclusive to Hot Country Songs YE that will be highlighted in the rankdown. Take a look and ask me if you have any questions. {Songs list (only 95 songs are selected because 5 more songs will be added from Canadian Country year-end rankdown)} Morgan Wallen - Last Night Bailey Zimmerman - Rock And A Hard Place Tyler Hubbard - Dancin' In The Country Luke Combs - Fast Car Jelly Roll - Need A Favor Morgan Wallen - Thought You Should Know Luke Combs - Going, Going, Gone Jordan Davis - Next Thing You Know Parmalee - Girl In Mine Parker McCollum - Handle On You Corey Kent - Wild As Her Dierks Bentley - Gold Jon Pardi - Your Heart Or Mine Thomas Rhett - Angels Don't Always Have Wings Kane Brown ft. Great to see the list. The only comment I have is I like bboat's style of ranking all the radio singles charted on Billboard, so despite the flop, I would personally like to rank Make You Mine, Feel Like This, be alright (yeah this one is questionable given the artist, but technically), and Brokenhearted (could be next year), and maybe carryforward Spirits And Demons, We Don't Fight Anymore, and Different Round Here. I guess I just like the idea having the YE RD as a ranking game on the complied list including all radio singles of the year. I am about to open up 2023 CAD RD, just pending one question to be answered from bboat11.

Yeah there's a few songs omitted that should probably be swapped in for some that will probably be better suited to be saved for next year. Another example I noticed is "Something Real" by Dierks Bentley. That'll need to be in the RD this year seeing as it's already had the plug pulled on it so wouldn't make any sense to hold off till 2024. 🤔

Since the YE RD is going to be closed soon, I am hoping to revive some of my series again this year. - For the album series, I have already opened Thomas Rhett Series to be closed at the end of the month. That one had a decent turnout last year, so hope to get good number of participants again. - Also going to open some female album RD(s) during the year. I am thinking any of Hailey Whitters (Raised), Megan Moroney (Debut), or Lainey Wilson (Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'). - As always, I am continuing the Canadian country series. I am going to open the 2016 YE game after the reveal of TR, and also hoping to squeeze in the 2015 YE before the actual YE comes. - I might potentially revive my Global Country thread, but host mini personal country RD with 10 songs of my choice. TBD.

D&R will be coming just as soon as I find out whether or not “Out of That Truck” is indicative of a deluxe edition. And also just as soon as I finish my current rankdowns, including the year-end rankdown I have left hanging for months lmaoComing somewhere in late 2023/early 2024… This is still coming, by the way. In fact, here are my plans on my rankdown duties before going to my writing cave: —The Judds Album Series is going to be finished in very quick succession, beginning on Monday with reveals for Heartland. I deeply apologize that it’s taken a literal year to get this album out of the way, especially since it’s not even a 10-track album. To that end, reveals will be immediate and revealed all in one go. We’ve been going through their albums in order, so immediately thereafter, I’ll be launching River of Time, and I hope to have the series wrapped by the end of May. This gives a month for each album. —In April, I’ll be reviving the LeAnn Rimes Album Series with the next two albums in that series: LeAnn Rimes & Family. I hope to have the album series finished by the end of July, with the exceptions of her Extras and her album tracks rankdown. Those will come at a later time, if there is any interest in them. —In the midst of completing the Judds and LeAnn Rimes Album Series, I will be launching rankdowns for Denim & Rhinestones, as well as Kacey Musgraves’ albums star-crossed and Deeper Well. As with the aforementioned album series, my hope is to have these done by the height of summer. And I think that’s it. I’ll possibly be going on my Pulse hiatus even during all this, and if so, will only be logging on to give reminders for these rankdowns and host their respective reveals. I do have plans for possible rankdowns upon my return, but until that time those will stay up in the air.

I used to host and participate in a lot of country rankdowns. I remember I got called out (and rightly so) for being slow with reveals when I was a few months behind. But there are a few rankdowns that I submitted lists for over a year ago that still haven’t been presented. That definitely lessens interest in participating when reveals happen years later (if at all).

I fully agree, and that’s why I wanted to light a fire under myself to get through my own rankdowns, especially before I go on Pulse hiatus. I’ve called out slow reveals myself in the past and the last thing I want is to be hypocritical in that regard.

I'm guilty of this as a host, but it's definitely a bit on both ends as I have had to extend rankdowns countless times despite reminders on Pulse and even personally sliding into people's DMs to ask them where their lists are. It's just no fun nor feasible to host a rankdown when you only get like 4 or 5 people who know how to turn a list in on time... That said, like taylor I've been working on getting back on track with my rankdowns.

And I am very sorry! It's amazing how hard I ran into the wall after years and years of constantly pushing and hustling!
However, don't give up on me just yet :) I intentionally saved mine and Kanenrá:ke's FAVORITE Terri Clark albums for last, so I've actually been feeling the itch lately to reveal Classic and Raising the Bar so that I can finish that series on a high note! I'll definitely be jumping back into that one soon so that we can get the final round finished up this spring/summer! Reba has maybe 2-3 rounds left, so she is also getting close... But not close enough.... Hahaha I'll undoubtedly continue that one thanks to the momentum that will come with finishing Terri :)

I intended to circle back earlier this month for an update, but ended up going on vacation and indulging in some much-needed R&R. Nevertheless, I've finally completed the selection process for the 1995 Country Rankdown, which took longer than expected to narrow down. I'm aiming to launch it later this week!
