Voulez-Vous (Do You Want in French) is the sixth studio album by the Swedish group ABBA. It was released on 23 April 1979. Album was recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm between 13 March 1978 and 29 March 1979. Agnetha Fältskog and Björn Ulvaeus separated in late 1978, which is one of the reasons that release date was postponed to 1979. With this album ABBA lean more towards disco music which was at its peak at the time. The most notable disco song from this album is the title track Voulez - Vous. Side one
1. "As Good as New" 2. "Voulez-Vous" 3. "I Have a Dream" 4. "Angeleyes" 5. "The King Has Lost His Crown" Side two
1. "Does Your Mother Know" 2. "If It Wasn't for the Nights" 3. "Chiquitita" 4. "Lovers (Live a Little Longer)" 5. "Kisses of Fire"
Album peaked on number 19 on US Billboard 200 and it peaked on number 1 on album charts in following countries England, Sweden, Norway, German, Japan, Finland and Dutch. First single from the album is "Chiquitita". They performe it on Music for UNICEF Concert in January 1979. ABBA donated half of all royalties from the song to UNICEF. Chiquitita is beautiful ballad with europop - schlager sound. Agnetha Fältskog sang the lead vocals. It's the most successful single from album. Other singels from album are Does Your Mother Know, Voulez-Vous/Angeleyes and I Have a Dream
Voulez-Vous was first released on CD in 1984. The album has been digitally remastered and reissued four times - first in 1997.

ABBA's chart (and overall) success in the U.S. had to be a disappointment to the band--compared to what they did in most countries around the world.

All of their albums from Arrival onward are fantastic. I don't know where I'd rank this one specifically, but I love it. They were also really spoiled with single choices this era too. "As Good As New" and "If It Wasn't For The Nights" could have been big hits along with all the other songs released.
"Lovelight" is a fantastic b-side too.

ABBA's chart (and overall) success in the U.S. had to be a disappointment to the band--compared to what they did in most countries around the world. ABBA have only 4 top 10 hits in USA - The Winner Takes It All (8), Waterloo (6), Take A Chance On Me (3) and Dancing Queen being their only number 1 hit. They did alright in the US judging from the statistic (20 top 100 hits, 7 million albums sold, 8 million singles sold) but it's still pretty disappointing in comparison with how big were they in other countries. They also had just one tour in states (1979) which could contribute to the fact that they were never super popular there.

I agree that their later albums are better with The Visitors being one of the most underrated albums ever (I mean this album is so so good). But there are some good songs on their first 3 albums too. My favourites are: Another Town, Another Train, Disillusion, Dance (While the Music Still Goes On), Mamma Mia, SOS and I've Been Waiting for You. I also agree that As Good As New and If It Wasn't For The Nights are great songs which had huge potential.
