Down to the last 24 hours to get your ranks in! Really hoping to get a couple more ranks in before the deadline! Also wanted to throw out a reminder that if there are any songs you like that were out in 1998 (whether released in 1997 or peaked in 1999 or even just an album track) that you would like to vote for you can vote for a Top 10 Missed-Songs. Lastly, you may vote for your top 3 Albums of 1998 to get an album showcase with 2 song highlights from the album. Going to do some album showcases but not gonna do one for every single album so this is how I will narrow down what I showcase. Albums can be released in 1997 or before as long as they were releasing singles in 1998. Deadline is Oct 31st!TAGS (Do not need to be tagged to participate):

Hi if you're accepting through tomorrow night I will TRY to get this in. Sorry I'm bad at time management (aka I had a busy semester at school and this is a long list -__________-)
Don't wait up on me! But please tag me in the results either way :)

I just submitted my missed songs and top albums, but I have some clarifying questions that you may want to answer for everybody.
1. If the missed songs were released late in 1998 and are therefore likely to be in the 1999 rankdown (such as "Wrong Night" by Reba, or "No Place That Far" by Sara) should we submit them as "missed" songs?
2. Do you want us to list 2 album tracks to be featured with the albums showcases, or should they be 2 singles?
3. If an artist has 2 albums in the eligibility period, are we allowed to submit both (i.e. Sara Evans had singles from both Three Chords and the Truth and No Place That Far in 1998)?
4. Do you want us to rank our missed songs and top albums, or is it enough to just list them?

I just submitted my missed songs and top albums, but I have some clarifying questions that you may want to answer for everybody. 1. If the missed songs were released late in 1998 and are therefore likely to be in the 1999 rankdown (such as "Wrong Night" by Reba, or "No Place That Far" by Sara) should we submit them as "missed" songs? You absolutely can submit any song as a missed song even if it is likely to be included in the 1999 rankdown. On the other side of it too any song that was a hit in 1998 that was released in 1997 and part of the 1997 rankdown is also allowed as this is meant to spotlight songs that were either released in 1998 or current singles in 1998 at any one point 2. Do you want us to list 2 album tracks to be featured with the albums showcases, or should they be 2 singles? I would like you to list 2 tracks from the album that you like that are not a part of the 104 songs in this rankdown, whether they were a single before or after 1998 or never a single at all. 3. If an artist has 2 albums in the eligibility period, are we allowed to submit both (i.e. Sara Evans had singles from both Three Chords and the Truth and No Place That Far in 1998)? Absolutely 4. Do you want us to rank our missed songs and top albums, or is it enough to just list them? Absolutely rank them, as it will allow me to have an order in which to present the songs. Ultimately though I will be spotlighting all songs and albums mentioned in some way or another.

We are officially past the deadline, however if anyone is able to submit by tomorrow night at 10pm EST I will accept as I will be at work until that time so when I get home I can add additional ranks and then begin results. However I am going to post some questions for people to answer in the meantime! What song is going to be #1? What song is going to be #104? What are the 4 songs to miss the top 100? What songs will make it to the top 10? What songs will be eliminated in the bottom 20? George Strait had the #1 song of the 1997 rankdown, can any of his songs this year be #1? ("True", "Round About Way", "I Just Want To Dance With You", "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This", "Today My World Slipped Away") For the following artist, which song of theirs will be the highest ranking song from them and which will be the lowest ranking song from them? Alan Jackson ("I'll Go On Loving You", "A House Without Curtains", "Between The Devil and Me") Brooks & Dunn ("He's Got You", "How Long Gone", "If You See Him/If You See Her") Clint Black ("Nothin' But The Taillights", "The Shoes You're Wearing", "Loosen Up My Strings") Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo", "I Can Still Feel You") Deana Carter ("Absence Of the Heart", "Did I Shave My Legs For This?") Diamond Rio ("Imagine That", "You're Gone") Dixie Chicks ("I Can Love You Better", "Wide Open Spaces", "There's Your Trouble") Faith Hill ("This Kiss", "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me") Garth Brooks ("Two Pina Coladas", "Longneck Bottle", "She's Gonna Make It", "You Move Me", "To Make You Feel My Love", "Where Your Road Leads") George Strait ("True", "Round About Way", "I Just Want To Dance With You", "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This", "Today My World Slipped Away") Jo Dee Messina ("I'm Alright", "Bye, Bye") John Michael Montgomery ("Love Working On You", "Angel In My Eyes", "Cover You In Kisses") Keith Harling ("Papa Bear", "Coming Back For You") LeAnn Rimes ("On The Side of Angels", "Nothing New Under The Moon", "Commitment") Lee Ann Womack ("You've Got To Talk To Me", "Buckaroo", "A Little Past Little Rock") Lonestar ("Everything's Changed", "Say When") Mark Wills ("I Do (Cherish You)", "Don't Laugh At Me") Martina McBride ("A Broken Wing", "Happy Girl") Michael Peterson ("Too Good To Be True", "When The Bartender Cries") Patty Loveless ("To Have You Back Again", "High On Love") Randy Travis ("Out Of My Bones", "The Hole") Reba McEntire ("Forever Love", "What If It's You", "If You See Him/If You See Her") Sammy Kershaw ("Matches", "Love Of My Life") Shania Twain ("Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)", "Honey, I'm Home", "You're Still The One", "From This Moment On") Steve Wariner ("Longneck Bottle", "What If I Said", "Holes In The Floor of Heaven") Terri Clark ("Now That I Found You", "Love Of My Life") The Kinleys ("Just Between You and Me", "You Make It Seem So Easy", "Dance In The Boat") Tim McGraw ("One Of These Days", "Just To See You Smile", "Where The Green Grass Grows", "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me") Toby Keith ("Double Wide Paradise", "Dreamwalkin'", "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying", "Getcha Some") Tracy Byrd ("I'm From The Country", "I Wanna Feel That Way Again") Trisha Yearwood ("Perfect Love", "There Goes My Baby", "Where Your Road Leads") Ty Herndon ("It Must Be Love", "A Man Holdin' On (To A Woman Letting Go)") Also wanted to throw out a reminder that if there are any songs you like that were out in 1998 (whether released in 1997 or peaked in 1999 or even just an album track) that you would like to vote for you can vote for a Top 10 Missed-Songs. For the following artist, which song of theirs will be the highest ranking song from them and which will be the lowest ranking song from them?
Alan Jackson ("I'll Go On Loving You", "A House Without Curtains", "Between The Devil and Me") Highest: Between the Devil and Me Lowest: A House Without Curtains
Brooks & Dunn ("He's Got You", "How Long Gone", "If You See Him/If You See Her") Highest: How Long Gone Lowest: He's Got You
Clint Black ("Nothin' But The Taillights", "The Shoes You're Wearing", "Loosen Up My Strings") Highest: Nothin' But The Taillights Lowest: The Shoes You're Wearing
Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo", "I Can Still Feel You") Highest: I Can Still Feel You Lowest: Little Red Rodeo (I can actually see both of these songs finishing super close to each other, and hopefully fairly high!)
Deana Carter ("Absence Of the Heart", "Did I Shave My Legs For This?") Highest: Did I Shave My Legs For This? Lowest: Absence of the Heart
Diamond Rio ("Imagine That", "You're Gone") Highest: You're Gone Lowest: Imagine That
Dixie Chicks ("I Can Love You Better", "Wide Open Spaces", "There's Your Trouble") Highest: Wide Open Spaces Lowest: There's Your Trouble (Even just these three are hard to rank, I love all three of these so much and hope to see them finish high as well)
Faith Hill ("This Kiss", "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me") Highest: This Kiss (Maybe...I know this song has been beaten to death over the years for some people and they'd be happy if they never heard it again haha) Lowest: Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me
Garth Brooks ("Two Pina Coladas", "Longneck Bottle", "She's Gonna Make It", "You Move Me", "To Make You Feel My Love", "Where Your Road Leads") Highest: Two Pina Coladas Lowest: You Move Me (This one is also very hard to predict. Many people seem to either absolutely love or hate many of Garth's songs, so who knows where these will end up)
George Strait ("True", "Round About Way", "I Just Want To Dance With You", "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This", "Today My World Slipped Away") Highest: True Lowest: We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This
Jo Dee Messina ("I'm Alright", "Bye, Bye") Highest: I'm Alright Lowest: Bye Bye (Same as what I said for Dixie Chicks)
John Michael Montgomery ("Love Working On You", "Angel In My Eyes", "Cover You In Kisses") Highest: Angel In My Eyes Lowest: Cover You in Kisses
Keith Harling ("Papa Bear", "Coming Back For You") Highest: Papa Bear Lowest: Coming Back For You
LeAnn Rimes ("On The Side of Angels", "Nothing New Under The Moon", "Commitment") Highest: Commitment Lowest: On The Side of Angels
Lee Ann Womack ("You've Got To Talk To Me", "Buckaroo", "A Little Past Little Rock") Highest: Buckaroo Lowest: You've Got to Talk to Me
Lonestar ("Everything's Changed", "Say When") Highest: Say When Lowest: Everything's Changed
Mark Wills ("I Do (Cherish You)", "Don't Laugh At Me") Highest: I Do (Cherish You) Lowest: Don't Laugh at Me
Martina McBride ("A Broken Wing", "Happy Girl") Highest: A Broken Wing Lowest: Happy Girl
Michael Peterson ("Too Good To Be True", "When The Bartender Cries") Highest: Too Good to be True Lowest: When the Bartender Cries
Patty Loveless ("To Have You Back Again", "High On Love") Highest: To Have You Back Again Lowest: High on Love
Randy Travis ("Out Of My Bones", "The Hole") Highest: Out of My Bones Lowest: The Hole
Reba McEntire ("Forever Love", "What If It's You", "If You See Him/If You See Her") Highest: If You See Him/If You See Her Lowest: Forever Love (I love Reba, but looking back this was definitely a weak year of songs for her. Even listening to them, they all three are pretty boring and I struggle to remember how any of them go)
Sammy Kershaw ("Matches", "Love Of My Life") Highest: Love of My Life Lowest: Matches
Shania Twain ("Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)", "Honey, I'm Home", "You're Still The One", "From This Moment On") Highest: You're Still the One Lowest: Honey I'm Home
Steve Wariner ("Longneck Bottle", "What If I Said", "Holes In The Floor of Heaven") Highest: Holes in the Floor of Heaven Lowest: What If I Said
Terri Clark ("Now That I Found You", "Love Of My Life") Highest: Now That I Found You (I forgot how great this song was when I went back and listened to it for this rankdown) Lowest: Love of My Life
The Kinleys ("Just Between You and Me", "You Make It Seem So Easy", "Dance In The Boat") Highest: Just Between You an Me Lowest: Dance in the Boat
Tim McGraw ("One Of These Days", "Just To See You Smile", "Where The Green Grass Grows", "Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me") Highest: Just To See You Smile Lowest: One of These Days
Toby Keith ("Double Wide Paradise", "Dreamwalkin'", "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying", "Getcha Some") Highest: I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying Lowest: Double Wide Paradise

Trisha Yearwood ("Perfect Love", "There Goes My Baby", "Where Your Road Leads") Highest: Perfect Love Lowest: Where Your Road Leads
Ty Herndon ("It Must Be Love", "A Man Holdin' On (To A Woman Letting Go)") Highest: It Must Be Love Lowest: A Man Holdin' On (To a Woman Letting Go)

LMAO everybody's skipping right over the prediction questions What song is going to be #1? I'm gonna say this is between "True" (YASSSS), "Just To See You Smile" (please no tho), and maybe one of the Jo Dee Messina songs. Love to see "Broken Wing" be a contender as well, but I worry people might have voted it lower just because it was in the 1997 rankdown and finished pretty well. What song is going to be #104? Probably one of Garth Brooks' 18 songs in this rankdown. I'm gonna give it to "You Move Me". What are the 4 songs to miss the top 100? Lol see previous answer. No, I'm predicting 2 Garth songs, not sure which ones though. Maybe a John Michael Montgomery song and a Clint Black song? (This question is really hard, because there were pretty much NO songs in this whole rankdown where I thought they deserved to be out in the bottom 5. I just remember how those artists performed in 1997). What songs will make it to the top 10? Both Jo Dee songs, for sure. "A Broken Wing" (hopefully people didn't tank it for its previous success, because it definitely SHOULD be top 10 in terms of impact), "Just To See You Smile" (opposite problem from "A Broken Wing"... Lmao), "Where The Green Grass Grows", "True", maybe "Now That I Found You" and "Cryin' Game"??!!! (OMG that would be awesome!!!) Oh, and we can't underestimate the power of "This Kiss"! Everybody always goes on about how polarizing it is, but then it went on and almost hit #1 in the Faith rankdown! Lol What songs will be eliminated in the bottom 20? Multiple Garth Brooks songs. Maybe the silly Toby Keith songs like "Double Wide Paradise" and "Getcha Some" (I'll probably be the highest ranker for both... RIP). John Michael Montgomery is definitely at risk for losing multiple songs in the bottom 20. This was definitely a boring year for him! George Strait had the #1 song of the 1997 rankdown, can any of his songs this year be #1? Honestly, I think "True" has an excellent shot at #1!!!! That's my pick for sure! Not sure how his other songs will do though. I'd love to see "Today My World Slipped Away" sneak into the top 10, but overall I am not expecting this to be a year of GS domination. He'll probably get all of his songs into or very close to the top 20, but I'm not sure how many can hang on for the top 10.

This is my first time participating in a year-end rankdown (hopefully one of many, given I get better at time management), but for the most part, I have absolutely no clue how this'll play out. I'll set my expectations low and pray that my #1 makes it to the top 40 and that my top 10 can hang on til the top 50, but I'm sure the latter is more wishful thinking. I love over half of my list, and I'm sure that there'll be some painful eliminations for me. Rooting for the following songs: - "Between the Devil and Me" and "I'll Go On Loving You"
- "Little Red Rodeo"
- "It Would Be You"
- "Dream Walkin'"
- "True", "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This", and "Today My World Slipped Away"
- "Nothin' But the Taillights" and "The Shoes You're Wearing"
- "Perfect Love"
- All of Shania's singles except "From This Moment On"
- both Jo Dee singles
- "26 Cents"
- "Don't Laugh at Me"
- "I Wanna Fall in Love"
- "Holes in the Floor of Heaven"
- both Randy singles
- "The Note" (didn't know it peaked that low on the charts as I remember hearing it as a kid)
- a couple of Garth songs that I shall not mention...
Okay, okay... I'll try to answer those prediction questions, I guess. What song is going to be #1? - I'm thinking one of two George songs ("True" or "I Just Want to Dance With You") or Tim can pull off a surprise win with "Just to See You Smile" or "Where the Green Grass Grows". What song is going to be #104? - Hoping for either the Neal McCoy song or "Guilty". What are the four songs to miss the top 100? - "Guilty", "Love Happens Like That", and one or two Garth songs. What songs will make it to the top 10? - Hoping for "Bye Bye", "True", "A Broken Wing", "You're Still the One", "Between the Devil and Me", "Just to See You Smile", "This Kiss", "Perfect Love", "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This", and maybe "Love of My Life"? What songs will be eliminated in the bottom 20? - Not sure; maybe Neal McCoy, "Guilty", two or three Garth songs, a JMM song, "Loosen Up My Strings", "I Said a Prayer", one Keith Harling song, "Dance in the Boat", "Stepping Stone", one Patty Loveless song, "When the Bartender Cries", "Matches", "Double Wide Paradise", "It Must Be Love", "A House With No Curtains", and "If You Ever Have Forever in Mind".

What song is going to be #1? I think "True" has the best shot. There's plenty of options that can do a surprise win though.
What song is going to be #104? There's some polarizing songs on here but I see one of the more forgettable songs going first. I think "Cover You In Kisses" seems like a good candidate.
What are the 4 songs to miss the top 100? "Cover You In Kisses", "Dance In The Boat", "You Move Me", "Stepping Stone"
What songs will make it to the top 10? "Just To See You Smile", "Now That I Found You", "True", "Little Red Rodeo", "I'm Alright", "Wide Open Spaces", "A Broken Wing", "This Kiss", "How Long Gone", "Between The Devil And Me"?
What songs will be eliminated in the bottom 20?
"A Bitter End" "Angel In My Eyes" "Come Some Rainy Day" "Coming Back For Good" "Cover You In Kisses" "Dance In The Boat" "Double Wide Paradise" "Guilty" "I Said A Prayer" "If I Never Stop Loving You" "Love Happens Like That" "Love Working On You" "Papa Bear" "Say When" "Somebody To Love" "Stepping Stone" "Texas Size Heartache" "Too Good To Be True" "What If I Said" "You Move Me"

Reading predictions make me really worried that I will do very bad in this rankdown.
Anyway I discovered many great songs from artists that I would never listen to otherwise and I will try not to be too disapointed if my favourite songs don't make it far.
My Predictions
What song is going to be #1? I'm Alright, You've Got To Talk To Me or I Just Want To Dance With You
What song is going to be #104? Double Wide Paradise, Loosen Up My Strings or one of Garth Brooks songs.
What are the 4 songs to miss the top 100? Double Wide Paradise, Loosen Up My Strings, Longneck Bottle, To Make You Feel My Love
What songs will make it to the top 10? I'm Alright, You've Got To Talk To Me, I Just Want To Dance With You, You're Still The One, How Do You Fall In Love, Holes In The Floor of Heaven, This Kiss
What songs will be eliminated in the bottom 20? Double Wide Paradise, Loosen Up My Strings, Longneck Bottle, To Make You Feel My Love, Dance In The Boat
George Strait had the #1 song of the 1997 rankdown, can any of his songs this year be #1? ("True", "Round About Way", "I Just Want To Dance With You", "We Really Shouldn't Be Doing This", "Today My World Slipped Away") Well it's George Strait so his songs always have a chance to win a rankdown. If his song is going to win I sure hope it would be either I Just Want To Dance With You or Today My World Slipped Away and not any other song.

I really wanted to do this but I've just been too busy to make my list. I'd like to follow along though.
