Where did you find a Jo Dee gif!? I literally looked for like 3 solid minutes and google gave me absolutely nothing... Lol I literally Googled "Jo Dee Messina gif" and that was the first result... There was also one from the "Bring On The Rain" music video, but it looked too sad for my current gif-posting purpose. Those were unsurprisingly the only options... Lol! Looks like someone needs to improve his googling skills...

What is this gap tho lol Sad to see the Jo Dee song I like more had to settle for #2 but "I'm Alright" is pretty darn amazing, so I guess it's cool. Thanks for hosting castleoblivion26! Great hosting as always!

LMAO it wins again. "Bye Bye" is the runner up AGAIN.
I don't get why everyone prefers "I'm Alright" to "Bye Bye" tho, I mean... that melody is so infectious. Both are great though, as I said!

Thank you all for participating, I really enjoyed hosting this rankdown (minus the missed songs and album spotlights idea, don't think I'll be redoing either of those). Had fun making the videos though!
"I'm Alright" has more nostalgia for me over "Bye, Bye" which is why I prefer that one but I love both a lot (don't let my ranking of "Bye, Bye" fool you!).
Gonna start up a new Rankdown topic this week sometime for my favorite Female Country songs!

Lol every time they have to compete, I feel like the competition should definitely be closer than it actually ends up being... Both times now "I'm Alright" has absolutely wiped the floor with "Bye Bye"'s carcass, even though "Bye Bye" is literally no less perfect than "I'm Alright" is!

Yeah castleoblivion26, I'm afraid of those two messing up my year-end rankdowns; even if my #1 songs don't win them (wish they'd make coins with more than two sides, though), I'd hope to see them finish in the top 20 instead of in the mid 30s or 40s. I had both Jo Dee songs in my top 10 at one point, but I just found others I liked more (almost obsessed with my top 40 and like almost everything else to various degrees). Oh yeah zaclord 🌈, I could probably school you on 90s country just for the heck of it (while everyone else listens to The Highway).

My bad, I plan on inviting them anyways; variety makes the world go round after all! It's funny that he didn't cuss everyone out when I submitted a list for that Alt to Pop crossover rankdown...unless he saw me post in some pop threads in years past... (I'm doing awful there anyways; haven't lost my #1 yet, but I did lose a top 10 right off the bat out of over 40 songs)

Damn @ the slayage for "I'm Alright" on this. I guess it was somewhat expected given how it did in the JDM rankdown I hosted, but still... crazy that it had almost all Top 15 placements except for the two outliers who clearly must've misplaced it on accident when doing their lists because... Thrilled we had a Jo Dee Messina final 2 here though. What a great ending. She really is that iconic.

5 - You're Still The One ~ Shania Twain
It's awesome that this song ended up in top 5. It's the best song Shania has ever recorded and one of my all-time favourite songs. 9 - You've Got To Talk To Me ~ Lee Ann Womack and 4 - A Little Past Little Rock ~ Lee Ann Womack This two songs are both amazing anf I was very surprised and happy that both made it to top 10. They both represent the time period in which Lee Ann music was the best. Her latest album is good for what it is but I still wish she would record more songs like this two. 3 - Wide Open Spaces ~ Dixie Chicks This song will always have special place in my heart even though It's not one of my favourite by Dixie Chicks - It was the first country song I learned to play on the guitar. 2 - Bye, Bye ~ Jo Dee Messina1 - I'm Alright ~ Jo Dee Messina I'm Alright is amazing song and I think it's the perfect winner of this rankdown. castleoblivion26 Thank you for hosting. It was another great rankdown.

OKAY but look at my top 10 y'all, it's a damn strong top 10 and anyone who talks about 'me and my trash taste' especially in relation to this rankdown can take several seats 1. Round About Way ~ George Strait 2. Today My World Slipped Away ~ George Strait 3. I Just Want To Dance With You ~ George Strait 4. Nothin' But The Taillights ~ Clint Black 5. Honey, I'm Home ~ Shania Twain 6. Lonely Won't Leave Me Alone ~ Trace Adkins 7. Cryin' Game ~ Sara Evans 8. There Goes My Baby ~ Trisha Yearwood 9. Bye Bye ~ Jo Dee Messina 10. I Can Love You Better ~ Dixie Chicks No way should I have lost as many as I did before the top 20

Take out the George Strait and you're good, lol.
This top 10 turned out very well. Surprised and happy with the Jo Dee top 2.

I love that Jo Dee pulled out a Top 2 finish for both songs. What kind of mastery. I love her.
Even though many were not in my personal Top 10 (or 20), this Top 10 was a perfect representation of 1998, and we did a great job honoring that year.

OMG I never knew that George had recorded "Red River Valley"! I just gave it a listen! I am now thoroughly soothed. Biggest fan huh? 😉 I know that this is a huge list, and that it will be a serious undertaking if you want to participate. But I promise it will be worth it. I have completed my own list, and I can say that I would be happy with literally anything in my top 90 making it into the top 10! Granted, I am very possibly the biggest George Strait fan you have never met (sorry tim )... But still, George is the master of consistency, and I think that everybody could find something to like in many of his songs. Plus, most country fans probably already know the vast majority of his catalog even if they don't realize it, because they are all pretty much huge hits! I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this point bboat11

Thanks for hosting this, it's probably my favorite year-end for country yet just because of the songs included! I liked the album and missed songs idea btw!

When I made my list for this I remember thinking what a strong year 1998 was for females in country music. Looking at the final list of this rankdown I'm happy to see the females finishing so strong! And I'm quite surprised that both Jo Dee songs finished in the top two spots, but I love them both so I can't complain. This was lots of fun!
