Over the past several months, there have been an increase in polls made based on year-end positions and chart peaks, as well as the rate at which they have been being made. This has led to repeated complaints due to the main Polling Booth area being flooded, and other types of polls being discouraged as they would be buried under the influx.
Therefore, we've decided to adjust and clarify the guidelines for the Polling Booth and the Face-Off subforum.
The Face-Off forum was originally created due to a large amount of Song A vs. Song B polls that were being made in quick succession. We're reached a similar position with the recent trend of polls made by pop radio peaks, and year-end chart positions. We don't want to discourage people from partaking in these polls if they want to, but we also do not want to acknowledge the legitimate concern that the frequency of these polls is rather cumbersome. As the Face-Off section was made originally made due to similar concerns, and as the year-end/chart peak polls are similar in that they ask members to pick their favorite song out of a lineup, they qualify for that area. We've also decided to expand the Face-Off area to take any series of polls, such as ones based off award nominees per year.
And so, here are some clarifications on where things should go:
If you plan on making a series of polls based on factors such as year-end positions, chart peaks, award nominees, those go in the Face-Off section. The current ones will be moved there.
Song vs. Song (whether two or more) polls still go in the Face Off section, as do any Song tournaments you want to do.
Other music related polls (i.e. predict sales numbers, predict the peak, grade album cover, best performance, etc.) just go in the main Polling Booth section.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
