The Queen biopic's soundtrack's release spurs a bunch of their songs from the trailer wave to come back once more, along with a new re-entry!

More movie hype means bigger positions this week, I can only imagine how flooded it'll be next week once the movie's actually out for a full tracking week; at the very least, this basically guarantees at least one Queen year-end appearance.

I wonder if Bohemian Rhapsody could actually appear at Hot 100 Recurrents. It's ahead of Africa and it left the Hot 100 this week.

Even better, it made the Hot 100, up to #4 on Hot Rock and heralding a swarm of 15 Queen songs this week!

Apparently, the Live-Aid songs are being treated as active since they hadn't received a prior commercial release, ala Shadow of Your Love, so last week had 14 re-entries, now only down to 13.

Either Rock's on its way out or the Queen songs are holding up really well, because once more, all 13 songs survive! (Sadly, it's probably the former: none of the Queen songs have a bullet)

So, because Billboard decided to be a bit weird, the last chart week of 2018 didn't count towards its year-end chart, which I'm leaving a note of in the main post. Still, we got a hearty half-dozen of our crop onto the year-end, so all's good!
Edit: The only reason there were 6 entries was that one song's points at a certain point got mixed up with another's, which I noticed and brought to chart staff's attention. Perhaps in response, they've corrected the issue, moving We Will Rock You considerably up the list while axing We Are the Champions.

Love of My Life makes the 2nd dropoff from the Queen bomb, leaving a sturdy dozen still charting this week!

Back from vacation, and it looks like the Queen songs all survived until their removal by some policy this past week...This same thing happened with the Linkin Park songs and I didn't think much of it at the time but in hindsight it didn't make much sense. Hopefully we can get some data on what exactly the impetus is.

The gang's all back! All 13 Queen songs from the movie bomb return thanks to the home media release of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, some at new peaks! Expect further boosts next week thanks to the Oscars.

The Queen recurrents were booted off after 3 weeks' worth of return, possibly because none of them had bullets last week, possibly because this week's recurrents (Come As You Are and Just a Girl) are here thanks to Captain Marvel appearances and would've likely missed without them out of the way, I dunno, but it's looking like Bohemian Rhapsody at the least is aiming for the top 20 of the year-end.

Fleetwood Mac's current farewell tour bumps "The Chain" back onto the chart, while Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" comes in thanks to its announcement as part of the setlist for the reunion show with the San Francisco Symphony.

We've got another multiweeker on our hands, as the Motley Crue songs, Live Wire excepted, stick around for a second frame!

I'm really not sure why Def Leppard songs are back, but they are. If anyone can elucidate the impetus, that'd be greatly appreciated.

Interesting stuff in the past 2 weeks! With the hubbub about The Verve getting the publishing rights to their hit in the news, said song gets a two-week stint on the chart, weathering a blast in from Elton John thanks to the new biopic Rocket Man.

Bitter Sweet Symphony departs, but in its place comes The Sound of Silence (the original this time), hot off being used in a Volkswagen ad debuted during the NBA Finals.

The Beatles returned on the July 13 chart thanks to the debut of the film Yesterday, amusingly beating the entries from the movie proper.
Tool returned on the August 17 charts due to them unleashing their entire discography for digital purchase and streaming along with a new single.

5 of the 12 legacy Tool songs survive a second week, with The Pot holding up a bit better than Stinkfist, swapping relative places.

In the wake of the recent deaths of Eddie Money and Ric Ocasek of The Cars, 4 of the former and 3 of the latter's act's tracks come to Hot Rock this week.

The Beatles songs barely budge, with one still in the top 5 and another in the top 10, while songs featured in the movie Joker (one of which had some controversy due to the original performer) debut.

The Beatles songs leave, but the Joker songs hang on, with the Gary Glitter track actually bulleting, a rarity for these songs.

After so many posthumous (recently or not) entries, it's nice to have one by someone still on the mortal coil. Chris Isaak gets Wicked Game to the chart after doing a performance of the song with Lana Del Rey.

This was a chaotic week for classics, back for a litany of reasons: MCR and RATM announced reunions, The Whole of the Moon was covered by Fiona Apple for a TV Show finale, and So Cold received a remix from Aurora that wasn't the majority point earner but sent it to the chart.
