I think Demi is also at that point in which the tween audience can't relate to her anymore but the older audience is not that interested in her. So despite getting a few hits now and there, she still needs to establish a more solid fanbase. I don't think it's true. She has a very solid fanbase right now, it's just getting bigger i guess since her music is evolving and it's attracting a different audience.

The article was deleted. Perhaps the six-figure projection was wrong? Perhaps Demi and/or Miley pulled ahead?Hopefully the usual Saturday post comes out soon.Neither. I guess they just deleted it to make sure the actual article got all the attention: hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=308665After a 15-year hiatus, Shania Twain is set for a #1 debut on our next SPS chart with Now (Mercury Nashville). This will be Twain’s second #1 album and second #1 debut. Her previous album, Up!, released in November 2002, debuted at #1 with sales of 874k.
Here’s what we know as of this morning.
Shania Twain (Mercury Nashville) 121-132k SPS, 120-130k album
Demi Lovato (Island/Safehouse/Hollywood) 68-78k, 45-55k
Miley Cyrus (RCA) 40-55k, 30-40k
Michael Jackson (Legacy) 13-19k, 9-14k
Pearl Jam (Monkeywrench/Republic) 12-15k, 11-13k

Yeah that's a great start for Shania.
Very hard slide for Miley. Demi's also 20k lower than her last, but it's nowhere near harsh as a drop.

Ouch for Demi and especially Miley.
But I'm really happy Shania can still pull those numbers! I really didn't know what to expect since it was her first studio album in 15 years. 100k+ is great in this sales climate.

It is very inaccurate since it is still very early and no real streams are available for now.

Now can they leave Michael Jackson’s catalogue alone??? Nope. There's still gold to be had there. Michael Jackson's catalogue will be packaged and repackaged over and over again. Take that to the bank.

sorry wrong. The bundle doesn't work like that, do some research. And shania was way ahead of those two in physical sales. Shania still has a massive fan base Doesn't work like what? Concert ticket bundles boost sales and that's a fact. It is definitely true that many of the people who redeem the album from the bundle would have bought is anyway but the fact is that it's highly unlikely that ALL of them would have and it's impossible to know exactly how many would have. And Shania was way ahead in physical sales? Well clearly. And chances are Demi and Miley are way ahead of her in digital sales, so I'm not seeing the point you're making there. Although we don't have more precise numbers for Shania and basically no projections for either Miley or Demi yet, I'm not counting the latter two out. Miley's last album sold 270,000 pure first week and even though this album is clearly miles behind in terms of momentum, I can't see her being too low. Also Demi's last album debuted with 77,000 pure sales which swelled to 98,000 with SPS. I find it hard to believe that this album will sell less than that 77k in its first week. Then with Sorry Not Sorry being so big right now and the growth in streaming over these last two years I just can't see her doing less than 100,000 units. And of course we still don't know how far over 100k Shania is likely to do. Disclaimer: I'm not at all trying to bring down Shania here. I would be happy with her or Demi getting #1. I would be happy for Miley as well. Surprise! Times are changing.

Damn, go Shania! Not bad for her situation.
Miley and Demi are both below what I expected though Demi's saving grace is people jumping on SNS. People really, really aren't feeling Miley this era are they?

I imagine Shania Twain's album is seeing decent physical sales- and, yes, that total in this climate is pretty decent, especially after such a lengthy gap between albums.
As for her airplay, she's lucky to be getting the play she is at AC radio, given the direction the format has been going in recent years. As for country radio, we can't expect the format to give much play to a 52-year-old act on her own, no matter her past success.

Shania's numbers are fine, but I can't help but wonder how massive her numbers would have been if she had released an album a decade earlier.
Demi's career is a mistery to me. She seemed likely to break out in a big way with Cool For The Summer but then it just stalled outside the top 10, and the Confident album was both a commercial missfire and a bit of a letdown considering she had improved with each release before that one. Now she releases Sorry Not Sorry which sounded like a huge flop in the making to me and it turns out to be a big hit, but then the album gets meh numbers again.
Miley's got no hit on the album, took a long time to release and has no buzz (I like her new image and Malibu was good, but the low numbers were to be expected).

Take that to the bank. Right but reportedly there are lots of unreleased "new" material in the estate. Rather than throw the same songs together under a different name every couple years, they could focus on the "new" stuff

I checked Shania's website and the tour to support her album starting in May. I also found out that there were the tickets went on pre-sale bundled with CD and T-shirt. That explains the numbers we're seeing and why the deluxe version is only #3 in iTunes.

Like "Going Out Like That".

Random question but I don't really follow the country radio so is the ageism there same than in pop radio? Will acts like Garth Brooks or Martina McBride get some love these days?

For females ageism definitely exists. Even Reba's getting phased out by radio. I think for males it's much less of a thing when acts like Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban are still the format's top superstars. Even George Strait was able to have hits until around 5 years ago. Garth is pretty close to getting his first top 10 in ten years with "Ask Me How I Know" btw.

No they don't care about age. Kenny Chesney is #1 on airplay and he has like 20 years of career. The real problem there it seems to play female artists who are not named Carrie Underwood (I'm exaggerating on this one though but I tried to make a point)

Demi's sales are on par with what I expected: Consistently middling with a slight decline here and there (probably due to the gradual declining numbers for most albums these days). Never really impressive, but not suddenly collapsing like some other pop divas these past couple years. Same with her singles, which usually stall out in the 10-15 range or less.

Reba McEntire never crossed over to pop, so that could be why country radio gives her more play, with a new release, than someone like Shania Twain.
Do any of the 10/6 releases look like they could sell enough to avoid another Nielsen-era record-low No. 1 sales tally?

80-85% drop for miley from bangerz... say what you want, but shock value does move sales it seems

I'm hoping for a new Eminem album. We'll probably get a new Justin Tiberlake album since he is doing the Super Bowl. But, will it be a 2017 release or a 2018 release?

^I had looked at that, but I don't know if any of those acts' releases will make much of a splash. Marilyn Manson's in the news now (for unfortunate reasons), so maybe that will raise the profile (unless the release gets delayed).

^Regarding the latter, it seems to boil down to Gwen Stefani and Marilyn Manson.
