Using the word "deserves" on any of these threads (BB200/Hot 100) can start a mess. Please be careful with it.
Tom Petty is dead. Whether he hits #1 or not is pretty irrelevant for his legacy.
Shania Twain already has a #1 album (Up!), so whether this one reaches #1 or not would be a minor achievement in a career as massive as hers.
In other words, I'm fine with any of them taking it.

Is Shania definitely taking the top spot? I love Tom Petty but I would love for her to get the number one without Mutt!

Yeah, the way people are carrying on you'd think Tom, Shania, Demi, and Miley were all scrapping to get their first #1 album ever, and not, you know, a group of four artists who all have at least one #1 album under their belts already.

The only person who "deserves" #1 this week is the one that sells the most albums. Point blank.

CHART STORY: THE TIME IS NOW FOR SHANIA'S #1Friday, October 6, 2017 Shania Twain has bowed at #1 on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with more than 134k for Now—her first album in 15 years and the first set to be released under her Mercury Nashville deal. Three more debuts make the Top 5 this week, as Demi Lovato enters at #3 with approximately 73k for Tell Me You Love Me (Island/Safehouse/Hollywood), A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s The Bigger Artist (Highbridge/Atlantic) comes in at #4 with nearly 61k, and Miley Cyrus’ Younger Now (RCA) arrives at #5 with around 47k. In the wake of Tom Petty’s untimely and
shocking death, fans have been coping by indulging in the late, great tunesmith’s catalog. Because of that, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Greatest Hits (MCA) appears in the #2 spot. Petty’s Wildflowers (Warner Bros.) also re-enters the chart this week; that one can be found at #26. On the Album Sales Chart, Greatest Hits is still #2, but Wildflowers
is #19. Here, you’ll also see Anthology: Through the Years (#23) and Full Moon Fever (#37)—both of which are via MCA. Focusing on SPS, the only other new release to make the Top 25 is Tamar Braxton’s Bluebird of Happiness (TamartianLand), which lands at #14. Post Malone’s Stoney (Republic)—which doesn’t include current single “rockstar,” but is certainly benefiting from its success—makes a noteworthy hop, going #8-6. In three weeks, there have been more than 100m streams of the song, which appears on his forthcoming set, Beerbongs & Bentleys, expected in 2018. It remains #1 on the Song Revenue Chart, where it pulled in north of $550k in two weeks. SZA’s CTRL (TDE/RCA) rises #15-13 on the SPS Chart. And Slaughter Gang/Epic’s 21 Savage, who’s featured on the aforementioned “rockstar,” sees his Issa Album—home of hit “Bank Account”—break back into the Top 20. When it comes to the battle for SPS marketshare, UMG comes out victorious with 51%. WMG is #2 with 27%, while SME follows with 19%. The indies have 2%. Streeting this week are albums from Loma Vista’s Marilyn Manson, Caroline’s NF and RCA Nashville/Zone 4’s Kane Brown, along with a Christmas set from Interscope’s Gwen Stefani. Biggies on deck include Capitol’s Beck and RCA’s P!nk (10/13), Capitol’s Niall Horan (10/20), Capitol’s Sam Smith (11/3), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (11/10) and, probably, Shady/Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem. Here’s hoping for a boringly uneventful week.

We'd have to check Nielsen figures, but the new norm in terms of second-week album-sales is looking to be ~90 percent.
