thanks for hosting Unhinged ! the results turned out well, even if expected...i'd have moved Smooth Criminal down a bit & Don't Stop... up a bit, but otherwise I really can't complain

20. Earth Song (12): This is my favorite of his post-Dangerous songs -a 2-week personal chart-topper 19. Will You Be There (23): I like it, but the verses resemble another song for me to rank it a bit higher 18. Dirty Diana (31): I like the music, instrumentation, but the chorus is far too weak and the verses don't compensate enough. It should've left before the top 20. I really enjoyed the presence of Steve Stevenson in the guitar (famous guitarist of several Billy Idol songs), though. 17. Scream (19): Lots of attitude and an overall strong song. Good to see it high enough. 16. They Don't Care About Us (16): Perfect ranking! Another personal chart-topper :) 15. PYT (32): This was actually my second least favorite single off Thriller. Still don't get the appeal of it... Overstayed its presence 14. Human Nature (8): Whereas I still get the appeal of this one! I liked it when released, but I've grown to love this since the mid-90s. 13. You Are Not Alone (24): Sort of a typical R-Kellyish ballad. Not bad, but I liked Scream, Earth and They much more. 12. Rock With You (7): This is a CLASSIC! Should've made the top 10. Classy, smooth, dynamic, dancey, perfectly sung. Awesome! 11. Remember the Time (13): This is another good song, my second favorite off Dangerous. I remember the excitement behind its premier! Those times!!

10. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough (4): My favorite from OTW, and a song that belongs to my first memories of music that I liked in my childhood :) I hoped it could rank higher tho 9. Bad (20): I love the video, but the song was a bit of a letdown to me, especially because I was hoping something strong as the follow-up to the ok first single. It's fun though. 8. Black or White (18): Hard to rank, and might've slightly under-ranked this one. The rap is a bit cringy, but overall good. 7. The Way You Make Me Feel (14): This has gotten better with time, and it's a solid part of his discography. 6. Man In The Mirror (11): This is a clear case of a song that became a favorite much later. I didn't care much about it when it was released (the fact that it flopped back home didn't help), but then I paid attention to it again when I listened to AT40 back in the mid-90s and then I made it chart in my personal ranking during the HIStory era, topping my chart :) 5. Thriller (3): The video was a masterpiece. The song was solid, epic, definitely one of the best pop songs of the 1980s. 4. Wanna Be Startin' Something (10): This song has certainly passed the test of time, influencing lots of other songs, of course more recently helping Rihanna bring dance music to the forefront, which only highlights its strength. I like other songs a bit better, but happy to see it in the top 10! 3. Smooth Criminal (9): Back at the time, this was my favorite song off Bad. It was the only chart-topper from that album, as this had much more of the classic MJ sound. I of course loved the video. Recorded it in VHS and then recorded the song to a cassette as this song wasn't in rotation back home. Solid song. Amazing to see it top 5! 2. Beat It (2): Perfect Ranking! A favorite from the first time I heard it. Eddie Van Halen's guitar was a treat. The video was a masterpiece that practically defined the start of the music video era. A gem. 1. Billie Jean (1): Perfect Ranking! This and Like a Virgin are like the building blocks of 80s pop music. Both with great imagery --and both inspired by I Can't Help Myself :) BJ is definitely one of the best pop songs ever and deserving of this #1
