hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=308765Saturday, October 7, 2017 NEW RELEASE: ANYONE'S GAME
If current projections hold, we may have as many as six titles vying for #1 next week. Of the new releases, NF, Lil Pump and Kane Brown are currently projecting somewhere in the 33-43k range. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Greatest Hits, meanwhile, remains a contender as physical shipments have started to hit the stores. Among carryover titles, Lil Uzi Vert is in the mix as is the resurgent Post Malone, whose Stoney album currently sits at #6 on our SPS chart. NF (Capitol) 38-43k SPS, 28-32k album Lil Pump (Warner Bros.) 35-40k, 8-11k Kane Brown (RCA Nashville/Zone 4) 33-38k, 23-28k Marilyn Manson (Loma Vista/Concord) 28-32k, 25-28k

I take it no Shania Twain. Would love to see how she does in the second week.

yep, week 2 numbers won't look pretty but if we understand that week 1 was grossly overinflated by the ticket promo then it won't look quite as bad

Kind of sad that MM won't even be a competitor.

The possibility of a new low in SPS for the #1 is real at this stage.

lmao if Lil Pump gets it... Please no. He's not only horrible, but I'm going to feel bad for Miranda Cosgrove (look it up if you don't know).

What the hell is "NF"? Is that an abbreviation for something/someone?

I hope Tom Petty gets the #1 I think that he will. I hope he does too. He was able to be #2 on both charts this past Friday.

If Post Malone reaches #1 in his 43rd week, it'll be the first time an album reached #1 that late in it's run (not including albums related to deaths) since Norah Jones debut in 2003! (It reached #1 in it's 46th week) I just hope it's not Lil Uzi Vert or Post Malone... Why not Post Malone? He's pretty deserving. Regardless if you like his music or not, his album is Platinum, something which 80% of #1 albums fail to do these days. I'd rather a Platinum album be awarded #1 then an album that will do 50K first week, and drop off the charts by next month. That's just my opinion.

Along with that, the only reason it's Platinum is mainly streaming, and to a lesser degree, track sales. It's only sold 113,600 copies. And it's been almost a year since release. Albums from Thomas Rhett, Kesha, Foo Fighters, The Killers, and many more have already passed him, and some haven't even been on the charts for 15% of the time Stoney's been.

Since 1991 only a few albums at all have built a following and CLIMBED to #1, most #1 albums attain that position by debuting there
Prior to 1991, the reverse was true, where it was rare to debut at #1

New Eminem album????? m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=308767...and, if the very loud chatter is to be believed, Shady/Aftermath/Interscope's Eminem (11/17). Em hasn't been heard from in a substantive way since 2013's The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which bowed at #1 with 780k on the HITS Album Sales Chart almost precisely four years before the rap firebrand's next expected drop date. He is reportedly due to drop a new single, "Revenge" f/P!nk, on 10/13.

^ Ye, he was slated for a release this year a while ago (at least industry rumours etc). Guessing he'll release in November/December after the single has had some time to build up.
Great exposure for P!nk on the release of her album if Eminem's single featuring her comes Friday.

Taylor Swift's second week versus Eminem's first week would definitely be the most exciting week in album sales this year.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=308786Monday, October 9, 2017 PETTY VS. PUMP VS.? THE FIGHT FOR #1 IS A GREAT WIDE OPEN While the race for #1 remains murky, at the moment we may be looking at a showdown between Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' Greatest Hits and Lil Pump's self-titled debut (Warner Bros.). Petty's death on 10/2 sparked the beginning of a rally at digital that continues (the set landed at #2 on our most recent SPS chart with 74k), and the filling of orders for physical product this week adds to his surging total, which, like Pump's, looks to be in the 45-50k ballpark. Just behind these two, a number of titles appear to be in contention, including Caroline's NF, Republic's Post Malone (42k on our last SPS chart) and Atlantic's Lil Uzi Vert (38k on the last chart) most of which are in the 40-45k region now, and possibly RCA Nashville/Zone 4's Kane Brown and Highbridge/Atlantic's A Boogie With a Hoodie (about 61k on the last chart). With all these titles so close, it doesn't take much special attention to wrangle the numbers sufficient for an advantage. Stay tuned for more numbers soon.

Well if Eminem is finally dropping then he needs to drop the lead! Unless the song with pink is a dual launch? And maybe drop another one beginning of November

Well, I don't know, Thomas Rhett's album has only been out for about a month... and calculating the streams, it has over 133 million global streams. Depending on how many singles he releases, he might be able to get at least half that, if not more.

I think it deserves #1 even more now.

I think it deserves #1 even more now. I'd rather not have trash that's a year old at #1. I really prefer Tom Petty at this point. Deserves it far more. I can guarantee most of that is from "White Iverson" and "Congratulations". It still has only 113,500 in sales. I'm sick of albums selling 1,000 copies, or less, and still be top 10.

The Tom Petty album is quite a bit older ---

If more than half 1.7 billion streams were from those songs, they would've peaked much higher than #8 and #14. Not to mention if they were only streaming the hits, then, in theory, anyone who's album also had 2 top 20s would be pulling similar streams. They are streaming the majority of the album largely, hence why it's about to repeak despite those two hits peaking months (and in White Iverson's case, almost 2 years) ago.
