The album is awesome! I was waiting for this release about 8 years since she came out with her debut. So many things happened these years and I never give up sopporting her music and her career. She is so lovely and talented.
I'm in love with the production of this album, her vocals, the lyrics are great too. It's way more mature than her latest EP's.
"Almost Over You" maybe my fave track, it's so radio friendly, I hope to be released as single. "Do You", "Another Dumb Love Song" and "Flip My Hair (Target Exclusive Track)" are awesome too. This album is way better than I was expecting, I'm so happy she finally released it!

Projected to open @ no19 with sales between 16-18k. Imagine if she had radio's support...

This is a pretty good album, based on the first run-through I'm giving it now. I hate that "Lights Down Low" got axed from it before it go released, because that one was a huge grower for me and I eventually grew to really enjoy it. There's a lot of solid pop-country songs to be found on this set though. Her sales are nice considering her lack of radio support and how long its taken for this girl to get another full-fledged album release. I'd like to see them try a single or two from this project though, because there's definitely hit potential with this record, despite country radio's allergy to female songs.

If radio politics weren't an issue, the song with Randy Houser, "Almost Over You", would be a HUGE smash hit. Their voices mix really well on that one, and its well written. Its hit just waiting that probably will not be heard unfortunately.

I know this girl sells well but I am shocked that this beat both Russell Dickerson and especially Carly Pearce in their opening weeks since this girl has no radio support whatsoever.

I find it kind of hilarious that she outsold Carly Pearce 2-to-1 with no radio support at all while the other has a successful current Top 10 hit, lol. Imagine if this girl actually got airplay?

Is there a reason why she isn't signed to a major label? She seems to be popular, has the looks/image, has songs that connect and sell, and is very radio friendly. Am I missing something? Even for a female, she would seem like a safer bet.

Watch that duet eventually becomes a single and a major hit in 2018 just like What Ifs.

I know this girl sells well but I am shocked that this beat both Russell Dickerson and especially Carly Pearce in their opening weeks since this girl has no radio support whatsoever. I'm not shocked at all. As rsmatto said, Jessie is really popular with the TV/social media crowd, and to top it off she's married to an NFL player with the Tennessee Titans (Eric Decker). Jessie has her own fashion line and she had a beauty channel on YouTube for a while too (not sure if she's still active with the latter). She and Eric had a reality show on E! for quite a while, too. Is there a reason why she isn't signed to a major label? She seems to be popular, has the looks/image, has songs that connect and sell, and is very radio friendly. Am I missing something? Even for a female, she would seem like a safer bet. She is signed to a major label. She's signed to Epic Records, a Sony label based out of New York City. The 'problem' is that Jessie is not associated with Sony's Nashville division. She's only signed to Epic in New York. Jessie's had a really interesting journey. At the age of 15 she was rejected by most of the Nashville labels. She eventually signed with Mercury Records (not to be confused with UMG Nashville's Mercury label) and released an album, but people weren't sure if she wanted to be pop or country. Jessie wanted to be a country artist but Mercury executives kept pushing her in a more pop direction. Mercury eventually partnered with Show Dog-Universal Music to try to launch Jessie at country radio in 2010, but radio wasn't very accepting (Jessie didn't really have any momentum, and Show Dog was already fading at that time). Show Dog pushed a couple more of her singles to country radio in 2012 but neither of them did anything, and she ended her partnership with Show Dog by early 2013. She also parted ways with Mercury. She went the independent route after that and released a moderately successful Christmas EP and a couple singles, before securing a deal with Epic in January 2016. I've always thought she had potential, but Nashville has never really warmed up to her. I think Mercury marketed her poorly initially, and then it just didn't seem like the music was strong enough during her Show Dog-Universal days. I think she's finally making some really catchy, country-pop music and she's obviously got some support with Epic backing her, but unless a Nashville label jumps on board, she probably won't see much radio success. And even if a Nashville label jumped in to promote her music, there's no guarantee that radio would take to it.

You'll find that female singers are often called "girls" or "divas" here at Pulse. It's not that uncommon, and people don't mean anything bad by it. That's just kind of what the lingo is like on music forums like Pulse.

But I'm gay and that's how a lot of us talk... and it's also how a lot of women talk to each other too, so I fail to see anything diminishing by it. Plus, looking no further than the tracklisting for Jessie's album in question, and we see that she has no problem at all using the word "girl" to describe women, seeing as she not only did it 3 separate times in the song titles, but one of them was used for the name of the album.

After she got married and had kids, Jessie James lost ALL of her edge.
This album is awful. I ADORE her voice and used to adore her music, but now she is singing boring, mundane, middle-of-the-road generic songs. There's not a single song on this album I can listen to. "Pretty Girl" is probably the worst, but they're all pretty bad.
I wish she'd go back to a style similar to her self titled album in 2009. That was great stuff! This... not so much.

OUCH! Only one week in the top 25 of country albums. It's sad, but the opening week was great for an album with no airplay, no promotion on Tv, no massive promotion by the label. It's hard to get some stability on charts when you don't have radio support. I think it hits the #1 mainly cuz her name has grown up on social media and the way she built a fanbase by herself on these years.

She has a decent enough following and name recognition at this point to have a nice opening, but it's not going to give the album legs if there's no promotion for it, so it makes sense that it would have a steep drop in its second week for that reason.

Almost Over You was sent to selected pop stations for test. Interesting. I still think that her best would be country radio play, especially now that she's went down this route instead of being asked to put on the front of trying to be a pop star like when her debut album came out years ago. Plus with it being a duet with Randy Houser, that might actually be a decent shot at country radio play for her, too.

In addition to throwing "Flip My Hair" onto the album, there's also a new solo version of "Almost Over You" that was added as well. It just doesn't have the same punch as the original duet at all, but I wonder if that's the version that's being tested at pop stations as TroublemakerOlly indicated.

It makes sense he wouldn't be on the version if they were testing it for pop stations, though it sounds like a country smash to me, especially with Randy's name attached to it. Shame they aren't going to try anything at country radio, it seems.
