Eh. I like this song enough but this felt way overdue imo as the rest of these songs are very memorable and are classics or staples of the genre. This song while good, it's not hard to see why it flopped. I agree its a polarizing song, but without the coal mine tragedy going on at the time, it would have been a big hit. She ran into an unpredictable and unprecedented world event. Talk about bad timing! LOVE "Coal Mine"! Yep. She literally had just won her first-ever (and only) Female Vocalist of the Year Award the month "Coalmine" came out and was riding pretty high when this was released so I have no doubts that "Coalmine" would've been *at least* another Top 20 hit for her, though I think it probably would've been bigger than any of the other singles aside from the title track, too. Terrible timing. </3

"Coalmine" is such a great and catchy song and I'm just sad that it never got to live up to it's full potential. I get why they pulled it though, made total sense.

Coalmine grew on me big time. I hated that it became a single and still wanted it to become a hit, but like others said with the coalmine tragedy that hit around this time, it just ran into bad timing. Over the years the song finally grew on me. Not one of my favorites by any means, but not a bad song. While we're looking at that era, I still can't believe that New Hometown was never a single and would have loved for Supernatural to have been a single as well.

I always liked "Coalmine", but I agree that "New Hometown" would have made a perfect single. That one, alongside "Roll Me Back In Time" and "The Secrets That We Keep", all scream "HIT" to me, as well as maybe "Bible Song". Not to mention all the people who would have sacrificed their best livestock to be able to hear "Missing Missouri" on the radio! That was sure a loaded album

I'd have also loved "These Four Walls" or "Tell Me" being singles. Really every song on the album was radio ready and I could've seen smash!

Damn near anything on Real Fine Place could've been a single because the album is loaded. I'm glad "Coalmine" was a single even if it flopped because it's my personal fave and I've gotten to hear her perform it live twice and that definitely wouldn't have happened if it were left an album track. I do wish they could've squeezed out a fifth single for "Missing Missouri."

"Tell Me" is the best song on that album and should have been released! What I'd give to hear that live....

all this talk about how good Real Fine Place is makes me want to sit and listen to it and to give "Coalmine" more of a chance. Maybe when there is an album rankdown of it I'll get to it though I'll try before that day comes.

That album is literally unrankable!

Where the arguments start is when you ask what is Sara’s second best album?

Well, to me Born To Fly, Restless, and Real Fine Place are all perfect from front to back, and I have so much trouble picking the best one between the three! I think I tend to give the slight edge to Restless, personally.

She has 3 albums that are far and away better than the rest, but I think they are interchangeable with each other. Real Fine Place Restless Born To Fly She really found her sound and niche with all of these albums. Nobody else sounded like her before or since.

Clue for #18. It's one you have to think about in regards to one of the lyrics...

I drove across the state today and got home tonight, so I technically have time now! But I'm expecting my housemate to come home anytime, and as soon as he does I will be distracted because he always talks to me (I know, how weird that someone you live with would try to talk to you.) So I might try to do a couple now, but not sure how far I'll get!

And it's the fifth of May, an' I'm right there starin' in your eyes"
"The fifth of May" = Cinco de Mayo lol.
"Every Time I Hear Your Name" was the third single off Keith Anderson's debut album, Three Chord Country And American Rock & Roll in January of 2006 and peaked at #6 on R&R in June. Promotion was put back into the song by Arista Nashville after radio rejected the remixed version of the title track with Steven Tyler and after it finally went recurrent, "Podunk" was released as the album's final single.
This is one of my all-time favorites of the 2000s. I think it's extremely well-written and the production is flawless. Keith's vocals work great with it as well. I always thought it was hilarious when people compared Blake's "Every Time I Hear That Song" to this one because Anderson's destroys it, imo. lol

Oh damn, I was looking for a "5th of May" lyric in some of the remaining songs, but I don't know this song well enough to remember the lyrics! This song is quite good, and a well deserved top 20 placer (even though I only ranked it in the 60s. I guess that's just how awesome this list is!)

Disappointing to see Keith out short or the top 10, but I guess I should be pleased he made it this far, he's not a household name. Such a great song, still among my favorites from the last decade.

I was also holding out hope for a top 10 finish. Keith wasn’t somebody I considered a great talent, but both his albums were solid and contained some real gems like this one.
