Never thought LeAnn would make it this far. She released a lot of winners in her career but this is probably my favorite.

Leann Rimes to me is an artist who got better the older she got. This and "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" were the only times country radio were fully on board. Sad..

#12. Gary Allan - "Life Ain't Always Beautiful"

It peaked the first week R&R switched to reflect the Nielsen Billboard numbers and Country Aircheck was launched. Gary's next single would be the 2007 rankdown inclusion, "A Feelin' Like That."
This is in my top 3-4 Gary singles and when I first heard Tough All Over, it was the clear choice for the second single. I understand why they ended it at two singles since most every song was dark to some degree, after Gary's wife passing away in late 2004, but if they went with another single, I would've went with the stellar "Promise Broken."
This sort of song would probably not as well on 2018 Country radio and who knows if it even gets picked as a single at all these days. It's excellent though and was co-written by Cyndi Thomson ("What I Really Meant To Say"/"I Always Liked That Best").

Not sure how this song could be ranked in the lower ranks.
So incredibly written and Gary's vocal on this is beautiful. Didn't make my top ten, but it was close.

Your top 10 everyone!
Jesus, Take The Wheel, Carrie Underwood Would You Go With Me, Josh Turner Leave The Pieces, The Wreckers Give It Away, George Strait Settle For A Slowdown, Dierks Bentley When I Get Where I'm Going, Brad Paisley (feat. Dolly Parton) Before He Cheats, Carrie Underwood Cheatin', Sara Evans Want To, Sugarland Kerosene, Miranda Lambert
A female sings lead on over half of our top 10 songs and 8 of the 10 went #1 on the chart. Only one missed the top 10 ("Kerosene").
* Give me your top 10 predictions.

YEEESSSSS!!!!!! "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" is SO boring! After how Gary Allan almost snuck away with the top with an equally boring song in the 2005 rankdown, I was pretty worried that he would be a #1 contender here too. While "Best I Ever Had" has started to grow on me lately and I acknowledge that I have been treating it unjustly through the years, "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" is still every bit as boring as I thought it was in 2006. LeAnn's song is good, but nothing special. I think she shines best when she has a song that truly showcases her voice, such as "I Need You" or "How Do I Live". She doesn't have the charisma as a vocalist to make me want to go out of my way to hear a song like "Something's Gotta Give" on repeat. It's a good song, that could probably turn into a great song if someone like Reba sang it! "Every Mile A Memory" is amazing, so I am sad to see it miss the top 10 even though I predicted it. It definitely would have belonged there! Looking at this top 10, Brad Paisley is the clear outlier to me, in the sense that I hope his song leaves soon and doesn't hit the top... I'm okay seeing "When I Get Where I'm Going" in the top 10 because it is beautiful and powerfully written, but I probably revisit that song once for every ten times I revisit my 2nd-least-favorite in this top 10 As with Gary Allan though, Brad snuck a meaningful ballad all the way to the top in the 2004 rankdown, so I am not ready to confidently rule out his song yet... But to me WIGWIG (lol) doesn't have nearly as much appeal as "Whiskey Lullaby" does.

For me....I have 2,3,11,17,26,28,35,36,78 left. I would be happy with anyone but my #78 winning.
I am gonna say: 1. Before He Cheats 2. When I Get Where I'm Going 3. Leave The Pieces 4. Jesus, Take The Wheel 5. Kerosene 6. Want To 7. Cheatin' 8. Settle For A Slowdown 9. Give It Away 10. Would You Go With Me

10. "Jesus, Take The Wheel" (This SHOULD be the #1 out of what is left, but so many people are preaching hate for this one... > ) 9. "Would You Go With Me" (Josh is no stranger to random people tanking his songs for whatever reason. In this case overplay might do this one in.) 8. "Give It Away" (I would LOVE to see this make the top 5, but it managed to fall short of the top 10 in George's own rankdown, so I'm not sure how much gas it has left!) 7. "When I Get Where I'm Going" (I think the awesomeness of everything that is left will kick this song out before too long.) 6. "Settle For A Slowdown" (Awesome song, but something has to miss the top 5...) 5. "Kerosene" (One of Miranda's more forgotten singles, so I don't think it will make it much further than this if it makes the top 5 at all.) 4. "Cheatin'" (This is also one of Sara's forgotten singles, so I don't see it as a #1 contender. Hope it hangs on 'til the top 5 though!) 3. "Leave The Pieces" (I'm not sure where to put this song, so I'll put it here. People might have underranked it due to overplay, or unfamiliarity with the artist.) 2. "Want To" (Quite possibly my favorite Sugarland song. I hope it can get close to the top!!) 1. "Before He Cheats" (I think this is the most obvious #1 contender in the top 10. I am not confident about any of these predictions, except for this one!!!)

I am so relieved to see it bow out before the Top 10.

Your reputation just took a big hit in my book. They say I did something bad Then why's it feel so good? They say I did something bad But why's it feel so good? Most fun I ever had And I'd do it over and over and over again if I could It just felt so good, good
Gary's song was a bit too boring for me...

"Life Ain't Always Beautiful" is SOOOO touching and BEAUTIFUL. Sad to see it miss the top 10 and I can't even fathom that people consider it boring. Yeah, it's slow, but in no way boring...

Wow didn't think "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" would be out before the top 10. I feel like I underranked it but when I look at my list I find it hard to move it higher. It's really that strong of a year.
As for top 10 I'll guess.
10. Jesus, Take The Wheel 09. Settle For A Slowdown 08. Kerosene 07. When I Get Where I'm Going 06. Give It Away 05. Leave The Pieces 04. Cheatin' 03. Before He Cheats 02. Want To 01. Would You Go With Me

I'm so sad that "Every Mile a Memory" barely missed the top 10! 2 Dierks songs in the top 10 would've been lovely to see.
I can't believe I'm saying this but at this point I'm rooting against Brad Paisley. "When I Get Where I'm Going" isn't among my favorite Brad Paisley songs.

Sad to see LeAnn out compared to what is still in because that is hands down her best single and I would have loved a surprise Top 10 appearance for it. JTTW next please.
