Track No. 11 on the Meaning of Life. This is simply stunning.

This is certainly unpopular opinion here, but this is probably my least favorite on the album. I just cannot stand the "EeeEEEee" in the chorus.

Excellent, album highlight. Her vocal is so pretty on this. Those verses especially, just crystal clear.

I mean, clearly a lot went into this decision given all the back and forth and delays, buuuuut...idk about this one. Hopeful to be proven wrong. That CHR isn't mentioned is interesting. Are they just not bothering, or it simply isn't lined up yet? Could they possibly try and push a different song to pop (which seems like a questionable strategy in and of itself)?

Well, I'm sad "Medicine" has been nixed. I don't see it with this song (I'm guessing they're envisioning another PbP moment, but this song isn't even in the vicinity of Already Gone, much less PbP or BoY), but I hope it does well. ...Unless it doing badly means they'll see the writing on the wall re:her new sound and deliver "Would You Call That Love."

I can see this flopping even at Hot AC, but who cares? Beautiful song.

Excellent choice. I could see this doing really well at Hot AC. When I first got this album, this song reminded me of Adele. That's never a bad thing to send to Hot AC radio, lol.

I get that that date ties in with the start of The Voice nicely, but it’s so far away. It feels like it’s been forever since she’s had an active single for the album.
I am excited for what her team has in store for this. Tricky timing aside, her promo appearances have been excellent.

I am excited for what her team has in store for this. Tricky timing aside, her promo appearances have been excellent. I also think with streaming, it's a lot easier to reverse course on an album's momentum than it was ten years ago. As in back then, if a campaign stalls, a single underperforms, moving on to the next single and stopping the bleed (keep stock orders up in retail stores, keeping it high on iTunes) is very important. However with streaming, which Kelly has been admittedly weak on, a song and record can be out of the Top 500 one day, and with a high profile performance/viral video/buzz worthy interview it can be in the top 10 the next day. I imagine the discussions have been lengthy and involved ("when can we couple this with SNL, can you deliver this song live effectively, we need something pretty imaginative for the video, The Voice is coming back on air with you as its new star") and the sum of them has made this their plan of attack. I know it seems like a while, but there's probably a method to the madness.

It seemed odd to me to that it has an impact date more than a month away of the announcement. Can radio play it if they want though or is there some type of thing that would keep them from doing so?

It seemed odd to me to that it has an impact date more than a month away of the announcement. Can radio play it if they want though or is there some type of thing that would keep them from doing so? Radio can pretty much play whatever it wants whenever it wants, but an adds date serves as the start of an organized single campaign by the label; I imagine it's quite uncommon for a label to ask a station not to play an upcoming single until the impact date, especially given that they can use that as marketing for the single ("early airplay at WXXX! listeners are responding! look at this Shazam or sales data in their market!" etc.), though we have seen examples of labels suggesting they hold off on unsolicited non-single airplay when they're getting ready to launch a new single (or at least one: Adele's "Rumour Has It" ahead of the single release for "Set Fire To The Rain" - so to compare to this case, it'd be as if stations started playing "Heat" right now and propelled it into the top 40, thus derailing their plans for current single "I Don't Think About You" and potentially taking the wind of the sails for a planned future release of "Heat").

Absolutely in love with this song. Far and away my favorite on the Meaning of Life album. Just stunning. I'm pleasantly surprised to see it get picked as a single because I definitely wasn't expecting to see it released. <3

Love the song but not sure of the fit as a single. I can only assume this is where the testing lead them. I hope HAC reacts well to this, that's really all I want.

I'm not a big a fan of this song, but I can see it working on HAC/AC. Would've much preferred "Medicine" though.
