Will Taylor sell over 1 million or under 1 million?? SPS will be over one million, but I think album sales will be under 1 million. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/8023099/taylor-swift-reputation-presale-400000-unitsPre-Orders for Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Reach More Than 400,000 Units11/3/2017 by Associated Press Pre-orders for Taylor Swift’s “reputation” have reached more than 400,000 units and the album has become Target’s biggest music pre-sale of all-time. Big Machine Records told The Associated Press on Friday that pre-orders for Reputation, to be released Nov. 10, are double the number of pre-orders for Swift’s 1989 album a week before its release in 2014. The pre-order number includes purchases at iTunes, Target, Walmart, Amazon and Swift’s website. Target also confirmed Friday that Reputation is its largest music pre-sale ever. Swift has released four songs from her sixth album so far, including “Look What You Made Me Do” and “...Ready for It?” The singer’s last three albums -- 1989, 2012’s Red and 2010’s Speak Now -- have each sold over a million units in their debut weeks.

Damn, Taylor is not giving up. I don't think she'll pass Adele but she should get pretty damn close.

Damn, Taylor is not giving up. I don't think she'll pass Adele but she should get pretty damn close. I doubt she'll get anywhere close to Adele's 3.38 million. But given the pre-orders, I wouldn't be surprised if she yet again did 1 million pure sales and ~1.5 million in SPS.

Wouldn't be surprised if she gets a million sales still this time around. I initially predicted 800,000 first week.

If she's outpacing 1989, then I think 1 million is certain in SPS, and likely in Pure.

The biggest opening week of the year based on pre-orders alone. Legend!

considering her previous era was massive and she had big roll out with specials/events, it's natural to have more preorder than 1989, in upfront way.
I think she will hit 1m again, pure or not.

First week is going to be great, anything from 900k-2m is possible, she'll NEVER be close to Adele's opening though
The week after, however, is more interesting.

First week sales overall, I'm predicting around 750K-1.67M at best.

One factor that I would like your take on is whether she will make reputation available on all streaming or whether she'll do the Apple Music exclusive as she did with 1989 since I haven't heard what she'll do. She already did the magazine bundle thing with Target (not quite the same as a deluxe edition), but I'm inclined to think she'll do the latter to maximize first week album sales. Regarding first week pure sales, I'm going to go with 1.3 million as an initial guess.

With 400k in pure sales already I think she'll do 1m in sales, 1.5m with streams.

This is Taylor Swift. 1+ million debuts is what she does.

Are we just talking about Adele's pre-orders? Cuz I think they were around 500k. If we're talking about the 3.38 million first week, it's possible Reputation's total figure won't even make it there (which wouldn't even be a bad thing...just pointing out how astronomical Adele's #s were).
I'm thinking 1.1 sales / 1.35 SPS for Taylor.

There's no way she can come close to Adele's sales, but that's alright because 25's sales are not normal at all.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=309207Monday, November 6, 2017 WHAT'S TAYLOR GOT UP HER SLEEVE?What’s Taylor Swift got up her sleeve with her new set, reputation (Big Machine/BMLG), dropping on 11/10? At the moment we mainly have a lot of questions. Will there be some kind of digital exclusive? If so, what—and for how long? What role will Spotify play in all this? Could this be the first paid-tier-only superstar release? Might Tay hold back streaming of the entire album for a time, to achieve as much digital and physical retail action as possible? Will there be a ticket bundle, and if so, how big? Kenny Chesney recently released one of the biggest bundles ever; Taylor’s response to benchmark achievements by her contemporaries is often “Hold my beer.” What is the D2C play? How significant will her highly touted UPS tie-in be? What about her merch-heavy Target campaign, featuring two 72-page reputation magazines? (Including handwritten lyrics, OMG OMG OMG.) We know she's doing SNL on 11/11. What other major media does she have planned? CBS Sunday Morning? GMA? A very special Law and Order: SVU? She's nominated for a CMA (as writer of Song of the Year contender "Better Man" by Little Big Town); will she attend the awards ceremony? What kind of insane kung-fu will she do on the socials as the unveiling nears? Insiders are madly speculating about the strategy informing reputation’s rollout. While Tay’s tactics surrounding 1989 were impeccable, today’s commercial landscape is quite different from 2014’s. But given that La Swift is one of the savviest artists now working, expect her to pull out all the stops as she not only adapts to the changing situation but moves to redefine it. We just don’t know what all those stops are yet. Stay tuned.

No streaming during the first week (at least.) Taylor Swift Will Keep New Album From Streaming for a Week
Representatives for pop star Taylor Swift told streaming-music partners that her new album won’t be available through their services during its first week of sales, people familiar with the matter said.
The services are still negotiating with Swift’s team to determine when “Reputation” will be made available, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private talks. The album will be on sale in retail outlets as well as online stores like iTunes starting Nov. 10. A Swift spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Without streams... easily 1m pure sales. She hasn't promoted this and it got 400k right off the bat.

I think that's a mistake tbh. Anyone who would have streamed the album week 1 likely wouldn't have bought it anyway.
She could've had a huge SPS debut.
Edit: By huge, I meant even bigger. She's obviously going to still have a huge debut anyways.

A lot of people don't buy the album because you can stream it for free on Spotify.

She's obviously going to still have a huge debut anyways. For me it depends on how long the album is being withheld from streaming. Like her last two albums, I bought them early on because there was no foreseeable indication when, if ever, they were to be released on streaming. However, with this one, if I know it will be withheld for only a week, I will wait and not buy it.

i think keeping streaming out of the firsy week allows the streaming to bump up the next weeks sale loss.

Oh they think she's gonna clock Adele? With them holding back streaming for a week, I can see a million still.
