Predictions up without SNL factored in. REPUTATION : AN UPDATED READWe believe Taylor Swift’s reputation will land somewhere in this range on next week’s chart: Taylor Swift (Big Machine/BMLG) 1.4-1.5m SPS, 1.37-1.47m albumIf this is on target, she'll surpass the bow of her previous album, 2014’s 1989, by at least 100k. This will be Tay’s fourth album in a row to debut with more than 1 million in first-week sales, with each of those albums selling more than the one before. We're still waiting to see what effect her Saturday Night Live appearance and rumored tour announcement—and whatever other moves she may have in store for D2C, TV, radio, etc.—have on the marketplace.

Impressive. Sales are getting a bit closer to the 2m mark the label was predicting but still a long shot.

On a side note this result is hilarious. "She will lose fans", "the tide is turning", "she is over", "this is her Witness era": bish where? She just keeps getting bigger. lol

700,000 on Day 1: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/8031321/taylor-swift-reputation-sold-700000-first-day-nielsen-music-big-machine-recordsTaylor Swift's 'Reputation' Sold 700,000 on First Day in U.S.11/11/2017 by Keith Caulfield Taylor Swift’s Reputation is off to a red-hot start. The album sold around 700,000 copies in the U.S. on its first day of release, according to initial sales reports to Nielsen Music. The set was released at 12 a.m. ET on Nov. 10, through Big Machine Records. Its first day sales figure could grow larger, after all of Nielsen’s retail reporters have submitted their sales for the day. If the album keeps up that sizzling sales pace, it could sell over 1 million copies in the tracking week ending Nov. 16. Further, according to industry sources, it is on track to earn Swift her largest sales week yet. Its debut week could surpass the debut frame of her last album, 2014’s 1989, which bowed with 1.29 million copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen Music. If Reputation starts with over 1 million sold, it will secure Swift her fourth album with a million-selling week. She’s already the only act to have three different albums sell a million copies in a week, since Nielsen Music began tracking data in 1991. Her last three studio albums all launched with more than 1 million sold in their first weeks: 1989 (1.29 million), Red (2012, 1.21 million) and Speak Now (2010, 1.05 million). Further, Reputation could become 2017’s biggest selling album after only one week on sale. Through the week ending Nov. 2, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) is the year’s top seller, with 909,000 copies sold. (Sheeran is also featured on Reputation, as a guest artist on the song “End Game.”) Reputation is primed to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Dec. 2. If it arrives at No. 1, it will mark Swift’s fifth leader, following 1989, Red, Speak Now and Fearless (2008).

On a side note this result is hilarious. "She will lose fans", "the tide is turning", "she is over", "this is her Witness era": bish where? She just keeps getting bigger. lol Unless she ends up selling 6 million like with 1989, she will have "lost fans". Most negative criticism was directed towards her losing casual fans, not the crazy ones that sleep outside Target in the first week. I'm also too lazy to look up the quote, but even you were predicting a 700k debut, lol. edit: It is even more crucial that the second single be something universally appealing and solid (something, quality wise, as strong as "Blank Space" or "I Knew You Were Trouble"). She needs something fresh, but somewhat safe. She has her strong fanbase, yes, but she has more than enough detractors she has to work against. Drop "...Ready For It" completely, let this die as fast as it possibly can (which is looking pretty dang fast), and push a surefire smash within the next two weeks to reignite any lost momentum and keep this era on course. The second single will decide completely how this era pans out. If her team is as good as they appear to have been in the past, they will know exactly what will and won't work. If they hit it right, another successful era with a one million debut could be within reach, if they don't, they're looking at an era with a short shelf life and a big dip in the debut week (600-750k). Let's see what happens when she tours as far as keeping and losing fans go. Eloqueen™ predicted numbers if they hit it right or were off and clearly the former happened so...

I did predict an opening far less than what is projected and I couldn't be more happy to be proven wrong! =)

Well in terms of opening sales... Taylor Swift (2006): 40,000 Fearless (2008): 592,000 Speak Now (2010): 1,047,000 Red (2012): 1,208,000 1989 (2014): 1,287,000 reputation (2017): 1.3-1.5 million? idk about the total sales though. Rounded off: Taylor Swift: 5.6 million Fearless: 7.1 million Speak Now: 4.7 million Red: 4.3 million 1989: 6.1 million Thanks!

For some reason I feel this one is going to have a hard time hitting 4 million. I don’t know why. The first single dropped quick after hitting #1, so it’s just making me be pessimistic.

Trump train putting in work en route to back alley abortions! What was that 800k number then? I assume it was for global iTunes if it's true, which is incredible nonetheless. Impressive. Sales are getting a bit closer to the 2m mark the label was predicting but still a long shot. Up until that 2 million prediction (which was never confirmed as just being for the US) appeared, the label's estimate was 1.5 for the US, so they were on the money with that.

It's going for full price though . What was that 800k number then? I assume it was for global iTunes if it's true, which is incredible nonetheless. That 800K number was a fake stat from someone who was trying to get attention on Twitter (and, against all logic, succeeded). It was actually believable imo until they said it was for the US only through iTunes. Given that it's album only and not up for Streaming, 800k globally from iTunes with her hype and stature that fast isn't too far out.

Let's not compare this to BTW. This is 15$, not 3. In the article they say not all the retailers reported the sales, so most likely +700k day 1.

...the sales price and sale tactics aren't the reason why I compared it to BTW. Amazing debut numbers followed by harsh drops that result in an ultimately unremarkable era? It could go that way but everyone was expecting her to flop and she's outselling 1989... It's hard to doubt her at this point. A lot of it will also depend on the singles. There's no way it holds up well enough to sell 6m like 1989, but +3m is doable and a massive win for anyone in 2017.

At worst, most people were predicting a just-barely sub-1 million debut.

That 800K number was a fake stat from someone who was trying to get attention on Twitter (and, against all logic, succeeded). Thank you I said something about this pages ago. She only had 400k in preorders. How did iTunes have 800k to deal with when the album was released? It made no sense and that twitter person was hyping her. It seems he's a blogger or something so not surprising. I don't understand why there is a sales plus streaming total in that article. There is no streaming. I never expected her to do over a million. Is it possible yes. But 2 million was way out of the question. And reading that if fans buy more albums it helps them get better tickets, they will.

700k first day, so just a little under 1,4 million if it follows 1989 for the rest of the week
