I know there's a few Brandi fans on here. She's been teasing a new song for the last few days, which is now on iTunes and is linked to a new album due out February 16, 2018. The song is called The Joke and the album is her 6th studio record. Brandi has been one of my favourites now for ten years so I'm SUPER excited for this!!

I am completely in love with The Joke. Such a beautiful song that really connects with me.
I ordered the signed vinyl so I can't wait until the album is released. I hope the rest of it is just as good.
By the way, I think The Joke could be in contention for SOTY at the Grammys in 2019. I doubt it happens because Carlile has not been a Grammy favorite by any means but this song is worthy of being nominated.

I think she's only ever been nominated once for Americana album for her last one. I feel like she could be a Grammy fav if she was ever able to get the kind of traction that someone like Ray LaMontagne got that one year. Bear Creek was an epic album start to finish and should have been the dark horse AOTY contender that year.

Funny cuz Give Up The Ghost is probably my least favourite of her albums - well, I won't include her debut in that because I haven't listened to that nearly as much as the other 4. But That Year is definitely one of her best songs!

Never heard her before but The Joke is flawless. Her voice OMG. I support anyone with a voice like that being nominated for AOTY. She could be a dark horse winner.

She's one of those artists I've been hearing murmurings about for years, but I've just never gotten around to checking out her material. As whacky as the Grammy's are most of the time, they do drive me to listen to new artists sometimes, I'll give them that much. I'll have to check her out.

Devil Marlena Nylund stanning her so hard had me check out "The Joke" a few months ago, and now it's my go-to song when I need a good ugly cry. Such an incredible voice, this is such a nice surprise and I'm happy your long shot prediction came true max! I don't even think you had her for AOTY. The joke is truly on me for making fun of you predicting her

So thrilled about her nominations. I love so much of this album – from "The Joke" still bringing chills to my spine to the palpable emotion of "Party Of One" to "Most Of All," which I quoted when I spoke at my mom's memorial earlier this year. Such a talent, and so glad to see her recognized for it.

The Joke won the Grammys for Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song.
By the Way, I Forgive You won for Best Americana Album.

The response to her performance has been overwhelmingly positive. I post on various message boards and everyone is saying she was the best of the night or one of the best and many of them didn't even know who she was.
