Just a prediction for the 5 I think it will be. Lauren Alaina, Luke Combs, Midland, Carly Pearce and High Valley. Why is Brett Young not on the nominees list? Or did I just miss him?

I would love if Runaway June somehow managed to get in for the new Faces.
My dream lineup would be Runaway June Lauren Alaina Carly Pearce Devin Dawson Luke Combs

Luke Combs and Midland are definite locks with the way the industry is behind them. I think Carly Pearce is a strong shot of being the token female nom, though I'd love to see Lauren Alaina in there as well (there's been more than 1 female in past years, though it isn't as common for unfortunately obvious reasons...).
Lol @ Craig Campbell being nominated though. How random. I think his best days are behind him at this point... I doubt he'll be getting another hit again.

I believe Brett Young was on last years show.
I would say Midland, Luke Combs and Carly Pearce are all but locks.
My guess to fill out the show would be Lauren Alaina and Michael Ray.

I believe Brett Young was on last years show. I would say Midland, Luke Combs and Carly Pearce are all but locks. My guess to fill out the show would be Lauren Alaina and Michael Ray. Brett Young wasn't on last year's show. Here's the past six years: 2017: Jon Pardi, Granger Smith, Maren Morris, William Michael Morgan, Drake White 2016: Cam, Kelsea, Old Dominion, Brothers Osborne, Chris Janson 2015: Frankie Ballard, Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae, Eric Paslay, Cole Swindell 2014: Brett Eldredge, Tyler Farr, Thomas Rhett, Cassadee Pope, Charlie Worsham 2013: FGL, Brantley Gilbert, Jana Kramer, Easton Corbin, Kip Moore 2012: Sunny Sweeney, Hunter Hayes, Eli Young Band, Thompson Square, David Nail Remember as this goes, it's hugely a voting game determined by actual radio people and as such that means folks like LOCASH have a hot. There's often a radio favorite outlier and they spread it out amongst labels (Which is likely why Brett Young is NOT on this list because it would then be possible to be mostly BMLG in the list of 5, it feels like the most one label group ever gets is two). Warner - from the list above - seems to have someone every years so that bodes well for Devin Dawson, Michael Ray or High Valley. I'd say the least-likely ones are Runaway June, Dylan Scott, and Aaron Watson. Of the list of choices, I think Luke Combs is the only true "lock" but Midland is very likely. I'll also go out and say that it'll be either Lauren OR Carly for the 'female slot'. Craig Campbell and LOCASH will vie for the radio favorite list (and LOCASH actually has had three hits now so they certainly fit here). So if I were picking: Luke Combs, Midland, LOCASH, Lauren Alaina, and Walker Hayes. The last one is a true wild card. 19/INTERSCOPE/MERCURY NASHVILLE's LAUREN ALAINA; RED BOW RECORDS' CRAIG CAMPBELL; RIVER HOUSE/COLUMBIA NASHVILLE's LUKE COMBS; ATLANTIC/WEA's DEVIN DAWSON; TRIPLE TIGERS RECORDS' RUSSELL DICKERSON; MONUMENT/ARISTA NASHVILLE's WALKER HAYES; ATLANTIC/WEA's HIGH VALLEY; REVIVER RECORDS' LOCASH; BIG MACHINE RECORDS' MIDLAND; BIG MACHINE RECORDS' CARLY PEARCE; ATLANTIC/WEA's MICHAEL RAY; WHEELHOUSE RECORDS' RUNAWAY JUNE; CURB NASHVILLE's DYLAN SCOTT; BIG LABEL RECORDS' AARON WATSON.

Oh yay at Lauren being up for it again this year!!!
My picks are Lauren Alaina Luke Combs Midland Carly Pearce Walker Hayes
Russell Dickerson or Runaway June would be good choices too. Devin is too new. Lmao at Craig Campbell. Wonder why artists like Brett Young and Kane Brown aren't up for it? They'd both have good shots at it I'd think.
Also lmao at 2012 - way to pick 5 acts that didn't last (I love them all but Sunny though)

Oh I always like trying to predict this! I'd say Combs and Midland are locks, and Pearce is right behind them. The next two spots are harder to predict.. Probably between Alaina, Scott, LoCash, Watson, LANCO and maybe Hayes and Dickerson. My final predictions are:
Midland, Luke Combs, Carly Pearce, Lauren Alaina, and Dylan Scott.

Lauren Alaina just seems like she came out so long ago. Is there a precedent for someone to be a CRS new face 7 years after releasing their debut album?

What a fantastic lineup! I'm thrilled to see that they *gasp* went with two females and that both Lauren and Carly get the opportunity to be in there. Keep making waves, ladies. Knew that Luke Combs and Midland were mortal locks for this, and it's nice that a talented male vocalist like Michael Ray got that other spot over some of the more mediocre newcomers that have failed to impress me who were vying for that position.

I'm really surprised that Brett Young and LANco weren't even options. Maybe they feel that with Brett already having two huge hits (and another that's top 5 and on its way to #1) he's already "made it"? LANco not even being an option seems weird though, given how big "Greatest Love Story" has been.

How long is UMG going to push Lauren Alaina down everybody's throat? New faces of country, really? She's going on 7 years and has had everything handed to her on a silver platter and still is not making it on her own merit.
There are so many other NEW great country singer who deserve a chance. She's had her chance, over and and over. Where's the fairness here?

She had her big breakthrough single this past year and before that she was more or less pretty unknown to the country audience. Also "shoving down everybody's throats"? Do you ever consider that people are fans of this girl, that they think she's super talented that they I don't know like this girls music? She doesn't have the biggest fanbase but, she has many fans and people see the potential for her to be huge as evident by the fact that she got On the Verge, by the fact that she got an opening slot on Luke Bryan's tour this year. The country music industry still sees something in this girl and want her to succeed.

In some context, I think your opinion is valid in regards to Lauren Alaina...but 43 of your 60 posts have come in the Scotty McCreery, "Five More Minutes" thread and the "How long is UMG going to push Lauren Alaina down everybody's throat?" comment, adds fuel to the warranted speculation that you're a superfan of Scotty and Pulse has had a history of Lauren vs. Scotty posters, which frankly, I cannot tolerate. UMG is a corporate label that has a lot of pull in radio circles. They were likely to get an artist in the CRS show and considering nobody else on UMG's roster qualifies as well as Lauren does and the fact she had a #1 single less than a year ago, makes the selection unsurprising. I personally don't believe Lauren will continue to have radio hit after radio hit but her selection by programmers for the CRS show is with merit and is indicative of an interest in her and her label's support.

I stand by what I said. She is not a new artist but getting all the benefits of one and it's getting old. And yes, I know that UMG has a lot of pull in radio circles and that they can buy whatever they want for whatever artist they want. Enough said.

Also UMG Nashville or any label can't buy anything, they can appease or try to offer it up, but ultimately country radio has the ultimate say in who was chosen for CRS New Faces.

The point is, like her or not, there is no reason to be so harsh in your criticisms, or disparage her because of her success. It's not like she's releasing putrid garbage to radio. Besides, she's a human being with hopes and dreams, and I am sure has had way more sleepless nights as a result of radio's slow reception towards her the last 7 years than you have as a result of her being "shoved down your throat" with literally the only solo hit she has ever had. Now, if radio ever starts consistently playing her material at superstar levels and she STILL continues to receive things like OTV or CRS, then by all means harp away.
