Learning of this loss may come as a surprise to some of you, seeing as everyone that made Top 9 predictions expected this one to finish Top 5. Not only did it not make it that far, but this one flirted with missing the Top 10 until the last list came in and pushed it back in. It is our third song to feature a #1 loss, but the first to have multiple as both bboat11 and recordyear take the ultimate hit. Despite a number of Top 10 losses, three more also lose a bottom 5 here. "To Learn Her" is a song marked by its sweeping steel guitar and an equally pretty set of lyrics and pleasant vocal performance from Miranda. It was a standout album track for many of you, but not quite everyone shared the same sentiment. "You'll have thanksgiving dinners And Sunday morning church You'll be true and you'll be tride But the tables always turn"

There was a sizable gap of about 25 points between "To Learn Her" and the next highest song, but the songs that finished in 5th-8th place were all within 6 points of one another, so there was a lot of flip-flopping there throughout the submissions.

Ugh, I cannot believe this. "To Learn Her" is SO stinking good!! It is one of the best country ballads I have heard in modern times. It feels like the token stone-cold country song on an otherwise modern/experimental album, similar to "When You Love A Sinner" on Martina's Eleven or "I Ain't Gonna Take It Anymore" on Faith's Fireflies. Top 10 is good and all, but I definitely thought it would do better...

The song that features the hook "I don't have the nerve to use my heart" serves to bridge the gap between the two sides of the album, but "Use My Heart" is spent here with a #8 finish. Nobody loses a #1, but a few runner-ups are lost, including a #2 blow to recordyear right after losing his top song, unfortunately. This one features the highest low rank of any reveal yet, however, as no one placed this lower than #18! "Use My Heart" is a sparsely-produced song with minimal lyrical content, but it draws its strength from a haunting, delicate, and emotional vocal from Miranda. It also finds strength in the beautiful steel guitar work that fills a lot of gaps in the song. "I can't throw a line but I can reel it in I can throw a dart but I can't make it stick The thought of loving you just makes me sick"

"Use My Heart" would have also been in my top 5. Love that one. Around 0:49 in, there's some instrument in the background that really stresses me out when I listen to this in my car. I have hit my brakes more than once because I thought that sound was another car squealing around on the road!

With the shattering of "Things That Break," only one non-single remains from The Heart. Again, no #1 losses here, but a lot of high casualties all the same, including The Brazilian Guy 🇧🇷's #2. This matches the highest low peak of our last reveal at #18, too. Another haunting ballad from Miranda off the record, this one features some almost eerie darker production choices in the use of steel guitar fills and percussion here. The building melody in the lines of the chorus are also enticing and the lyrics are strong as well imo. It's one of the rawest offerings on the record and for that I think it's quite the standout. "Can't make a man a promise with the best of intentions Or drive 200 miles on a rundown engine"

"Things That Break" is a song that I had a hard time ranking; ask me a year ago and I would've included it in my top 5. Maybe I'm just in a different state of mind today so I don't hear the same song I did then. I'm still very much conflicted about this song...but also maybe because I relate to it too much.

Ew! This rankdown has become down right DISGUSTING! To Learn Her at #9!?!? 🤬 I thought her CMA performance of the song was great. I also like how the steel guitar gives the song a throwback kind of feel to it...but overall I just find I get a little bored with the song as it moves along.

Seems LBTrocks will not change the ranking of To Learn Her even if he submits a list. :( I like the change in narrative for To Learn Her as well. Notice the album is mainly written in first person perspective, then that song is suddenly in third person perspective, yet obviously "she" is Miranda herself. This expression is quite cool. Use My Heart is also gorgeous, in the sense that it connects two parts of the album effortlessly: I don't have the nerve to use my heart. Would like to hear Ashley Monroe to sing this if possible too! Boo at Things That Break being higher than those two songs. The "heart's broken" theme is better written in Tin Man imo, although one may say the owner of broken heart in the two songs is not the same.

To Learn Her and Use My Heart are both great songs. She looked absolutely gorgeous when she performed TLH on CMA awards and I love that steel guitar solo.
Ever since I first heard Things That Break this song is among my top 3 favourites on this album. I love everything about it (instrumentation, vocals, melody) but the lyrics stand out the most probably because I can relate to them.

Perfect ranking for "To Learn Her"! =D
Surprised at how high "Use My Heart" got... it's a great song, but i wasn't aware it was so well-liked compared to other songs on the record.
A little sad that "Things That Break" didn't get a higher position (Top 5, at least), but can't say I'm surprised. I love this song and it's another one that I learned to love over time... the lyrics and Miranda's interpretation are just perfect.

Hmm...now I'm wondering if a single is gonna win this.
"Things That Break" missing the top 5 is blasphemous imo.

If my #8 goes at #6 then my entire Top 5 will make the Top 5, am hoping that happens because I really like all 5 songs in my top 5 a lot more than the song at #8.
BTW "To Learn Her" really is out too soon. Forgot that it got pushed out of my Top 5 because I liked those songs so much but this song deserved better than 9.

Sorry for abandoning this for a few days, but I'm back for a few more reveals before I get busy again later tonight! "Keeper of the Flame" gets extinguished just a few points shy of a Top 5 finish, which in turn means that "Tin Man" remains the only song from The Heart still in the running against 4 selections from The Nerve. We don't lose anyone's #1 here, but quite a few high casualties like the loss of castleoblivion26's #2, narrowly ending his hopes of having his Top 5 be the overall Top 5. One of the most contemporary and uplifting tunes on the album, "Keeper of the Flame" is a song about Miranda's position of bearing the torch of country music for those that came before her and those that who have not yet come to prominence. It's a rather different song from most of the album topically, and it bears a nice vocal delivery and production that is both not as harsh nor as stripped back as some of the other offerings on the record. "I'm walking in their footsteps I'm singing their old songs Somebody blazed this trail I'm treadin' on"

Time is up for this one as "Pushin' Time" clocks out at #5, the last song left in this rankdown without at least one #1 rank from anyone. A lot of you get perfect rankings with this one, and it's Cody Wants Out...'s turn to lose his runner-up. It's a sweet, largely stripped down song with Miranda's strong, clear vocals front-in-center on a tender performance about the delicacy of falling in love knowing there's always an expiration date. Given the lyrical nature of the song, it seems fitting that her new beau, Anderson East, lent background vocals for this one. "And they say only time can tell You already know me well If it has to end in tears I hope it's in 60 years"

"Runnin' Just in Case" runs out of steam in this rankdown, leaving behind only "Getaway Driver" as the final non-single standing against the album's two hit singles. Almost 50 points separate this song from the Top 3, which were far and away the Top 3 from the beginning. It's curtains for the #1s of tim and Troublemaker, and a lot of us apparently got a memo to put this at #7 because it racked up quite a high number of placements there. The airy and soothing "Runnin' Just in Case" serves as a perfect album opener. The lyrics here are a serious highlight and the vocals are sublime, especially when she really digs in during the song's two choruses. "I ain't unpacked my suitcase since the day that I turned twenty-one It's been a long ten years since then, it's getting kinda cumbersome"

"Runnin' Just In Case" is a better song than "Getaway Driver" in literally every metric, in my opinion. I'm disappointed that it is out before that one.
On a less controversial note, "Runnin' Just In Case" has continued to grow on me more and more lately. Such a beautiful song! It is definitely a lyrical high point for the album, and I feel like everything flows perfectly to fit in with the vibe of the song, from Miranda's vocal delivery to the production to the lyrics to the instrumentation.

"Getaway Driver" bows out in the bronze position of this rankdown to leave it up to a battle of the two singles for the title. I was so thrilled to see so much love for this one and that it wound up being the highest-ranking album cut with incredible ease, because it was my favorite, and thus, I lose my #1 here. I'm not alone though as six others suffer the same fate, the most #1 placements of any song on the album. Impressive. Only four people ranked it outside their Top 10. "Getaway Driver" is just pure magic to me and I think it may be my favorite thing Miranda Lambert has given us since "Famous in a Small Town," which remains my definitive favorite Miranda song. This song has such a beautiful melancholy feel to it, gorgeous production and melody, and she brings such a delicate and tender vocal to it. It's a perfect song to want to go driving through a light rain. Everything about it is perfect to me, and apparently many others agreed! "When she's feeling reckless Tangled in her messes Wild eyes lookin' for a chase There's nothing white lines can't erase"

Dang, apparently I need to give "Getaway Driver" another chance! That's a LOT of love for it!
This is a VERY predictable and expected top 2, imo. And very deserving as well! I have a feeling "Tin Man" will take this easily, because most people who dislike it did not participate in this rankdown whereas I have seen people trash "Vice" a couple times throughout. But I would LOVE to see the win go to "Vice"!

I definitely hope "Tin Man" wins but both songs are great so it is a win-win either way tbh.
"Getaway Driver" is a great song and I'm glad it made it this far, same with "Runnin' Just In Case".
