Empty Room was one of my favorites upon first listen of The Suburbs. Love the symphonic elements on this one.

My Body Is A Cage out this early...:( It is a grand end for that album... Everything Now does not deserve to be this low...at least it makes you want to sing along and the flute is a cute addition And I just can't get the French song. I don't think folkish sound suits them.

So I started listening to these older songs. All I can say is, I'm glad they changed their sound. 29. Antichrist Television BluesThis sounds like a totally different band. Definitely not for me. I would say Troy has the right idea about this song. 28. My Body is A CageI don't like this kind of vibe. 27. Everything NowThis is the band I know well. Beautiful song. They really hit the notes with the ABBA sound. 26. Normal PersonThis is from Reflektor. Not as good as the first two singles, but it still has elements that I like from this band. The guitar works here, are what get my attention the most. 25. Empty RoomFirst time listen, but I'd say it's pretty damn good. I wish there was more variation in the song's melody, but it rocks fine to me. The duo vocals are my favorite aspect of this song. 24. Month Of MayAnother pretty decent rocker. Not too memorable, but I liked the melody just fine. 23. Modern ManOne of the better sounding mellow songs, I've heard from them. These sound like they would have smashed on AAA? Were they huge hits on that chart? 22. Black MirrorSo this was their sound in 2010. I didn't really feel this song. 21. Une Année Sans LumièreThis was way too folky for me.

29. (Antichrist Television Blues) (18): This one kept moving up in my RD the more I listened to it. I really liked the clear early 80s Springsteen influence here. 28. My Body Is a Cage (16): This is another one I kept improving my ranking. The production, music and vocals are haunting, and when I read the lyrics, I felt this is just too powerful to overlook. Deserved a better ranking. 27. Everything Now (9): I knew I was going to be an outlier here :) This is the other EN single I downloaded earlier this year, and I've used it quite a bit. I think this is a solid late-70s/early 80s-influenced pop song, with a nostalgic vibe and voices that complement that vibe. Of course, I always have good appreciation of a good pop song >:((I didn't know this was Wii-hee (huh?) song). 26. Normal Person (27): Just about where I ranked it :) Strong music and production here... it's just that I like other songs better. 25. Empty Room (37): This one felt too run of the mill, typical pop-rock to me. They have much better rock efforts. 24. Month of May (36): Idem 23. Modern Man (31): Idem, + the more melodic elements of this made me like it better 22. Black Mirror (30): Idem 21. Une année sans lumière (39): Yup. This one I felt out of place and maybe the band trying too hard to fit the vibe. Just didn't get it. AND, with these last reveals I cleared my bottom 12 :) and I've lost only one top 10 so far, so this is good enough for me :)
