So, is this the week where Black Friday sales count? Or did it count for the previous week?

Reputation moving 180k units in week 3 is brilliant! Of course no Adele level but on par with another big releases this year (Kendrick, Ed)
Also, not 100% convinced that U2 are the ones that are #1 next week as Post Malone and Chris Stapleton have new albums out too. Post's streaming numbers will be gigantic, maybe even record breaking
EDIT: U2 have a bundle deal, never mind then

No matter how you look at it, Taylor's numbers this week are not that impressive. You would usually expect to see an uptick for almost all albums during black Friday week as long as they are beyond their second week of release. Even Artpop, which debuted with around 250k and fell 80% to around 50k its second week, doubled its sales the following week, which was Black Friday week. On the bright side, maybe Reputation's a comin to streaming sooner than we think!
Actually to be fair though, all album numbers this week seem to be surprisingly low.

Well after 3 weeks Reputation is selling pretty much same numbers than Red FIVE years ago when sales in general were much better.

It's impossible to compare this album's sales to 1989 because of 2 reasons: - Sales are much lower than what they used to be 3 years ago (when they were s**t already); - This album doesn't have any hit that clicked with the GP just yet.
With this said, the album was never going to reach the heights of 1989 or at least it would be a very difficult feat to accomplish. Nobody buys albums anymore, she needs to release the album to streams soon.

Wait, isn't the tracking week in question Friday, November 24 (Black Friday) through Thursday, November, 30? I too am surprised it is this low considering Target discounted the magazine to $13 on Black Friday. Has anyone discussed the fact that the album was never discounted to $9.99 (as most albums are) as a driver of lower sales? I would have expected $9.99 standard edition for the first week, normal prices for the second week, and $9.99 again for Black Friday/Cyber Monday week three. Indeed, the album is currently selling for $15 on Amazon and $16 for the magazine at Target. Way too high in this sales environment.

You can't compare an album released four years ago to an album released in 2017. Totally different climate. This week's sales are fine. I don't think anyone could reasonably expect Reputation to match the sales of 1989.

Not for this album. Sales are based on promotions and target with streaming at a minimum, just like before.
The long term difference will be the singles.

Meh. You can compare general trends. General trends haven’t really changed. Please elaborate.. The general trend of Black Friday week boosting virtually all sales except for albums that are in their second week. And I brought up what I thought was a valid comparison of this general trend with ArtPop, which, like Reputation, was in its third week of release during Black Friday. ArtPop actually more than doubled its sales that week, from 46k the week before to 116k, while Reputation, as the predictions show, will likely show a sizable decrease. It's interesting to know what Reputation's sales would be if it weren't Black Friday. It might have made another greater than 50% drop.

So basically, besides the massive first week, Reputation is pulling in almost the exact same numbers as DAMN. Not sure if the holidays will change this, though.

Maybe U2 won't be #1? hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=309559Friday, December 1, 2017 FLIPOVER FRIDAY: NEW ARRIVALS AT iTUNES AND APPLE MUSICChris Stapleton opens ahead of U2 as his From a Room, Volume 2 (Mercury Nashville) takes the #1 slot at iTunes on this flipover Friday. Apple Music has no new arrivals in the Top 10 but that could well change by the end of the day. The deluxe edition of U2’s Songs of Experience (Interscope) etches a spot at #2 ahead of four other newcomers in the Top 10. At #4 is Danielle Bradberry, a winner of The Voice in 2013 who released her debut that same year; I Don’t Believe We’ve Met (BMLG) is her first album in four years,. The fourth album from Miguel, War & Leisure (ByStorm/RCA), is #5 at iTunes and #11 at Apple Music, making it the highest newcomer on the streaming service. Andy Grammer’s The Good Parts (S-Curve) is #7. New Kids on the Block join the holiday spirit with Thankful (UnWrapped) at #10. and... On the songs chart, Ed Sheeran’s duet with Beyonce on his “Perfect” (Atlantic) shoots straight to #1 with the original version trailing right behind it. The Top 10 has two other newbies: G-Eazy & Halsey’s “Him & I” (RCA) at #6 and Louis Tomlinson’s “Miss You” (Syco) at #7. Taylor Swift’s reputation (BMLG) has been released to streaming services and is being promoted at Apple Music but has yet to crack the Top 200. We’ll be keeping an eye on its progress.

That's about a 75% drop for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Should be tops on the country chart for a second week (depends if we get numbers on Garth Brooks).

Man, this is a boring Black Friday week. I would have assumed that it was a normal week if I had not known. I thought Taylor's numbers were great until I read that it was Black Friday week lol.
This December will be interesting for song and cd sales.

Their 2014 album 'That's Christmas to Me' hasn't even hit #1 yet, despite its sales exceeding 2 million. You're correct. That's Christmas To Me peaked at #2 in 2014. However, Pentatonix has two chart topping albums: Pentatonix (2015) and A Pentatonix Christmas (2016).

You have the Garth Brooks album titled The Ultimate Collection instead of The Anthology. His other albums are also making a comeback? Read carefully. 2016 Black Friday.
