YOUR TOP 20: A MIDWEEK EXPERIENCEU2’s latest, Songs of Experience, will land at #1 this week with Nashville star Chris Stapleton taking the #2 spot. A Pentatonix Christmas remains Top 5 this week and other perennial holiday titles make a strong showing in the Top 20. 1. *U2 (Interscope) 170-180k SPS, 165-175k Sales2. *Chris Stapleton (Mercury Nashville) 120-130k, 110-120k3. Interscope’s rock icons have dropped Songs of Experience, their follow-up to 2014’s Song of Innocence, along with a ticket bundle. Swift’s reputation, meanwhile, just became available for streaming on all DSPs; her SEA may well spike as a result. Meanwhile, Nashville hero Chris Stapleton arrives with a potent sequel of his own, From A Room: Vol. 2. Here’s how things look for now, but you’ll want to check in regularly. I think U2's number will increase. It's surprising they're not playing stadiums though like this year.

The U2 numbers are not bad. No one liked their last album. They probably lost a lot of fans.

That's about a 50% drop for From A Room: Volume 2 over Volume 1's opening week.

Taylor in the run for #1 in her 4th week against U2's 1st week? Whew her decline is real.

At this point in their career, I’m not sure u2 is losing fans because of a single album. I think it’s more like The Rolling Stones, where no one really cares about their new work, but still goes and sees their shows. I also think a lot of the negativity over their last album was due to the Apple debacle, not necessarily the work. Having said that, I’ve enjoyed their new album so far.
More interesting is Stapleton’s first week decline over the last album.

He didn't have a single off of the 1st album either (pre-release). Either Way was dropped as the lead single the same week as the album. Given current climate, with no bundle those are good numbers, especially for a second album out in 6 months (which isn't to say this isn't a dumb strategy, if you constantly release music, your numbers drop).

You're right. I wonder when Traveller will outsell Volume 2. Remember, Traveller did outsell Volume 1 for a few weeks earlier this year.

To be noted, ... Are You Ready? was the highest charting reputation song on Spotify and was only #55.

I think given he hasn’t had a big hit off either, and both albums were released within several months of each other, the decline is expected.

From what I've seen, all bundle releases have been underestimated in the first estimations. I think U2 will break the 200k mark.

Even going to Spotify, Taylor won't touch 200k. Is there any big releases next week? Maybe she can get more weeks if people start buying her album as a gift

Yeah, I don't see how they're getting a potential 175k figure for Taylor, even with Spotify. That seems way too bloated.

The way the current streaming looks, adding her songs on spotify should boost streaming equivalents by 15-20k. Yesterday (2nd day on spotify) her 4 initial tracks got 1.7k equivalents on spotify with 3.0k for the rest of the album. With the holidays, her pure sales should start stabilizing, so why not?

Where does anyone say Taylor is reaching 200k?
If U2 reach it, good for them. Taylor is probably closer to 175k with streaming etc.
The U2 album will probably have a chart run like 1-25-7(another bundle)-40-10(bundle) LOL

Ok, even adding in the 20k, her physical sales would have to be nearly identical or increase this week to hit 175k. That seems unlikely.

The decline in sales stopped after the 4th week, probably mostly thanks to holiday sales since the drop off after the holidays was pretty sharp. 1989 came out 2 weeks earlier than reputation though so the holiday boost should kick in sooner this time. 1286544 401599 312454 213744 281212 230238 277607 331478 325609 171925 110977 92196

I think these sales for Taylor are pretty understandable. It’s not “her” decline, it’s the album. It’s a GOOD pop album, but it isn’t 1989 (to a lot of people), so it makes sense that it wouldn’t sell (in the long run) as well as 1989.

Even when you see good numbers it's basically only because of a bundle. Speaking of, the bundles killed the rest of album sales. Labels aren't even bothering anymore. The money is all in the touring.

Yeah I was surprised that overall sales were so low because I felt like we had a lot of pretty good first weeks this year and then I realized that most of the first weeks I was impressed by were actually tour bundles that collapsed pretty quickly.

300? He will most likely do upwards of 1 million with streaming. He’s never released an album in this era and he’s a big streaming artist. There’s no way he goes under 500 with SPS. HEs a huge legacy artist who has fans grandfathered in
