For whatever reason I feel like you guys are gonna tank On Hold And that scares me. You'll all be surprised to know that I didn't do so at all. It's actually one of my favorites to come out this year.

The funny thing is, I originally had it in my top 50... Red is going to look at my final ranking of it and think WHAT!? I thought it was "I Dare You" at first, lol. "On Hold" sucks.

Honestly, "On Hold" wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for the stupid ass sample for the post-chorus. That's what ruins everything it had going for it for me. It just sounds so bad.

You hit it right on the nail my friend. That sampleing of some male vocals ruined that song completely for me. It sounds like something I would find on the CHR chart, on a song, that I would hate. Anyway, I wasn't too nice to this song on my rankling.

There's still time to adjust your rankings so you don't piss us off I debated on putting one of those artists lower, so I'm good.

We're posting in a different font, and you know what that means...THIS BALLOT UPDATE IS CERTI. FIED. LEAN! It's time for the rock chart rankdown version of the B-B-B-B-BALLOT UPDATE! This ballot update has a couple of people who know their way around a rock chart rankdown, as Doc Indie Party Rock, Albie, and rowellfarm490 were the people who contributed to this particular update. Doc's ranking, as you'd expect, created a little chaos, and the other two rankings played their part in helping chaos be a key feature of this update...
- ...though that chaos doesn't extend to the very top, where the reigning #1 was able to hold on to #1 through this ballot update's three rankings. At one point, its lead grew to over 40 points, but its lead over #2 has shrunk to a little over 20 points. And speaking of that #2, Doc's ranking changed the #2, and it's a song that has not been in the top two to this point. If it keeps up its momentum, it might get that top spot with the next ranking...or it could wind up getting tanked, who knows? The way this rankdown has been going, nothing is for sure. - One thing is for sure: The top two's lead over the rest of the field is just nuts. #2 is 50 points clear of #3 and nearly 100 points clear of #5. Much of the rest of the top ten is struggling, though, in terms of pulling away from the pack, with #3 just three points ahead of #4, #7 just two points clear of #8, and #9 two points ahead of #10. - The three songs that have been in every top ten rankings remain in the top ten, though, after this update, just one is in the top five. - There was a surprising amount of static by the end of this ballot update, especially in the 11-20 range. As of this most recent ranking, songs 14-19 stayed the exact same, while 11-13 only changed because #13 leapfrogged the other two songs for #11. - The four songs that have been in every bottom ten are still in the bottom ten, and, yet again, they are the bottom four. - Threshold update time! Only #1 has been able to cross 1600 points (though #2 is close), while just the top five has 1500 or more points. The entire top 50 has now crossed the 1000 point mark. Six songs, meanwhile, have yet to reach 300 points, with two still missing out on 200 points. #98 barely reached the 200 point mark with the last ranking. - Okay, guys, this is getting a little ridiculous...after nearly 20 rankings, #100 STILL has yet to cross the 100 point mark. It should get there soon, but the fact that it has taken this long to get to such a minor threshold is remarkable. - After starting to move a little bit up the ranking, the song that I've been talking about as a struggling song has settled in the mid-50's. There is still hope for it, however: Another song that struggled early was able to re-enter the top 25 for the first time in a long time within this particular update, and there's still no telling how many rankings are still to be submitted. - And what would a ballot update be without Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update...
Sadly, there are no alarm soundings to be had with this update, but we still have ties...though only two, at #60 and #76, respectively. A lot of songs are pretty close, though, so there's still potential for many a tie to be had in the next update.

Submitted my list. After actually doing the rankdown, I'd say the top songs are still pretty good like most years. Only difference is the bad songs are complete dog s**t this year. I know one song in my top 10 will fall early, and another will probably get knocked out around midway. But otherwise, I'm optimistic the other 8 songs can do quite well on this year.
If "Holding On" made the list, it would have been my #2.

Regarding some discussion from before... "Suit and Jacket" isn't as overtly annoying as "Take It All Back", but there's also nothing going for it. Same goes for "Legends" and most of the other stuff in the bottom quarter of my rankings. Unlike the late '00s/early '10s, there's little that seriously makes me cringe just on its own merits, but there's a bunch of really bland, forgettable, generic stuff that annoyed me simply by dominating the charts so much. There's only 5 or 6 songs here that I'd consider to be seriously awful.
As for "On Hold", I'm not crazy about it (I agree that "I Dare You" is better), but I didn't tank it that badly either. At least it's not as generic as a lot of the other stuff here.

Not only are we at our first reminder, we're also a week away from the deadline already. Time is flying. Also, holy crap, I really want to get to the next ballot update. We're one away from the next one right now, and...things are happening.
ONE WEEK UNTIL THE DEADLINE.

We're posting in a different font, and you know what that means...THIS BALLOT UPDATE RAN FOR ITS LIFE WITH ME! It's time for the rock chart rankdown version of the B-B-B-B-BALLOT UPDATE! This ballot update is brought to you by three fine people: dm2081, @jamesflame, and rockmandattebayo. Boy, did these three shake up this rankdown or what? Now, you may be thinking to yourself, "Red, those three? Shake up the rankdown? C'mon!" Oh, I have such sights to show you...
- For the first time in eight rankings, we have a new #1. Let's just start there. And not just is the new #1 a brand new #1 (as in, it has not been at the top until now), it is now also over 50 points ahead of the previous #1 that is now at #2, as well as nearly 75 points clear of #3. So these three rankings did not just change the #1...they dramatically changed the top spot. - The shake-ups don't stop there. Another song entered the top three for the first time in this ballot update, and it's less than twenty points behind #2, so it may still move up yet. The previous #3 is now down to #4, 30 points behind #3. #6, meanwhile, is just a single point ahead of #7. - Another big shake-up: One of the three songs that has been in every top ten fell out for the first time, meaning that just two songs have been in every top ten from the very beginning. While both are still relatively safe, they're not out of the woods: The higher song (currently at #5) is less than a full ranking ahead of #11. - Whereas the last update was about static and stabilization, this update is about chaos, and that's also the case in the 11-20 range: 11-20 are separated by less than a full ranking, with some songs (like #11 and #12, #16 and #17, and #19 and #20) just a few points apart. - The four songs that have been in every bottom ten are still in the bottom ten, and, yet again, they are the bottom four...but they did get boosts over the course of this ballot update, one in a big way. - Threshold update time! #1 is the first song to cross the 1800 point mark, though #2 isn't far off. Only the top five are over 1700 points. 62 songs have reached the 1000 point mark, and that number should only increase over the coming days. Meanwhile, only four songs are below 300 points, but, importantly, every song now has over 100 points. Only one song has under 200 points... - ...but that song is not the one you're accustomed to. In perhaps one of the biggest shake-ups of this ballot update, for the first time in nearly ten rankings, we have a new #100. The previous #100 got a sizable boost in this update, moving up a whole two spots, and it's within striking distance of #97. The current #100, meanwhile, is now nearly 400 points behind #90. - Another update, another moment of struggle for the endless struggle of a song I've talked about in these updates, as it's now back in the bottom 40. At the rate we're going, I think it's going to struggle to reach the top 50, which would have baffled me before this ranking process started. Another song that struggled for a bit just entered the top 30 for the first time, though, so there's that, at least? - And what would a ballot update be without Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update...
Man, I wish this update, as eventful as it has been, could have also provided an alarm sounding, but it does not. There are still ties, though, at #39, #54, #76, and #91.

I'm pretty excited for this! I'll have my ranking turned in within a couple days.
Also re: what the songs people agree on being good, what about Wish I Knew You? Granted I know there are a couple people who dislike that song, but I think it's damn close to the most universally liked alt hit on pulse this year (not just from the rock boards, overall), and it seems like the minimal hate has almost entirely come after the immense overplay. It's my prediction for #1, personally.

How come Linkin Park - One More Light is not in the top 100 songs to rank, but is on the spotify playlist ahead of 94 Phantogram - Same Old Blues? Should it be the actual 94?

Should it be the actual 94? wait wait....................where is Foo Fighters - The Sky Is A Neighborhood? and any song that missed the top 50 but peaked in a different year is gonna be saved for that year. Don't worry, TSIAN OML will be on 2018's list c:
