This is...interesting. I haven't checked out anything by Carrie for almost a decade (I bopped to Some Hearts and Carnival Ride so hard), but I'm here for her big pop crossover.

Yeah Carrie sounds different than usual in a way that I don't like, especially in the verses. I didn't mind her vocals in the chorus that much though. It serves its purpose so that's good though, sounds like a nice pump-up song.

This sounds exactly like a song RCA would hold onto desperately for Kelly’s Piece By Piece follow up, single #2.
It’s definitely catchy and swells nicely, inoffensive empowerment lyrics, the melancholy sound is surprising but works really well (reminds me a bit of “Rise” in that way, and others), but if they didn’t want Carrie’s voice on this, why not just get someone else?

I do agree they unnecessarily flattened her voice, but I think it was done to make it “feel” more pop? They should just trust her natural voice.
