Finishing off this set, at #31 is not a top 10 high SD, but its SD is still pretty large. Yet another top 10 exits, and this member is no stranger to losing them. Also featured are three other top 20 ranks. On the other end, though, is three bottom 10s with one bottom 5. This song generally bounced around the 35-25 range for the majority of the rankdown.

Probably was expecting the 50 to be Doc, right? Yeah, I just didn't care for this all that much. I GET why you guys did, but it just wasn't for me. It happens.

Today's extras theme is Second Opinions, or, what might have been the backups from albums/artists represented here. EXTRAWitching Hour VenomShare your thoughts on this song below! It was hard to pick which Venom song to use. Would have been poetic, in a sense, to choose a song from Black Metal, but I just don't think anything on it stacks up with the best from Welcome to Hell. My three 'perfect' songs off the latter album are this, "One Thousand Days in Sodom", and "In League With Satan". I felt OTDiS would be incomprehensible to someone just learning of the band, so that was ruled out. Again, super tough between WH and ILWS; I decided to go with ILWS because it shows off the innovative qualities that made them a prime influence on the eventual genre of Black Metal, while also being catchy as the dickens.

EXTRA2 Minutes to Midnight Iron MaidenShare your thoughts on this song below! "Wasted Years" and this: my two favorite Iron Maiden songs. And this is the one band I could have justified breaking my "no repeat artists" rule for. You could line up 4-5 acclaimed metal bands active in the 80s and not match the number of widely accepted classic albums Iron Maiden alone released in the decade, and on top of it all, there are different eras within that stack. This choice was essentially a coin flip.

40. Strong Arm of the Law - SaxonYou guys did Saxon wrong here. 39. Metal Church - Metal ChurchI do like Metal Church, but this particular song isn't their best. They released a fierce version of "Fake Healer" last year with QUEENSRŸCHE's Todd La Torre. Easily made my top 10 Metal chart. 38. Valley of the Dolls - Fates Warning This is such a great song. The action starts immediately, and doesn't let up, but those vocals are what really took it to Metal Heaven level. 37. Last Entertainment - CoronerI wanted to like this cause the vibe was so evil sounding, but the spoken like vocals seemed all wrong for this style. 36. Dark Reflections - CandlemassI dug the evil Metal sound. I also thought the spoken style sounded better on this song. Of course; once the real vocals came in, I was in Medieval times again. 35. Eternal Nightmare - Vio-LenceDecent evil vibe, but the vocals were not my style at all. 34. Danger - KISSKiss is my favorite Hard Rock band ever. They do all styles with precision. From Powerballads to fierce rockers to "Sleaze Rock" "Let's Put The X In Sex". Gene Simmons Metal like "War Machine" got a standing ovation last time I saw them in concert. Paul Stanley is a certified vocal GOD in my book. 33. Zombie Hunger - Saint Vitus With name like "Zombie Hunger" I was expecting a super fierce song. I liked that it sounded like Morrison doing Metal, but the song itself sounded weak. 32. Pulp - GodfleshSounded more like Machine Guns going off than Metal to me. It also just stayed in the same vibe throughout the whole song; which did nothing to boost my adrenaline. 31. Visions From the Dark Side - Morbid AngelMorbid Angle sounded like such a cool name, but this song was all over place. Vocally as well as musically. EXTRAS. Witching Hour - VenomI like black Metal when it has good strong vocals. Venom isn't really about the vocals. It is great watching them perform. I have one of their albums on cassette somwhere. 2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron MaidenThis is my brand of Metal. Grandfathers to the Nordic Metal of today. I probably would have put this one in my top 3, if it had been on this list? I have this L.P. scratched as fuck but with the sleeve in mint condition.

I made some formatting changes so the table should now look better on mobile. Legend: Rk = Closeness rank, CL = Closeness value, AvR = Average rank revealed, B10 = Number of bottom 10s remaining, Wst = Worst rank remaining, T10 = Number of top 10s remaining, Bst = Best rank revealed, PR = Number of P-P-Perfect rankings

Get your asses ready for #30-21! What songs do you think will miss the top 25? The answers will come soon enough. - A total of ten top 10s exit in this set. Only one person's top 10 will stay entirely unscathed.
- Two people will clear their bottom 10 in this set. No one will take their #50 into the top 20, so get your Haterade ready on that front.
- We encounter the 4th, 5th, 8th, and 10th highest standard deviations tonight. Mixed in there is the 6th lowest, too. If you thought yesterday was a trip...

We ended #40-31 in the war room, now let's continue #30-21 there, as the 4th highest standard deviation steps up first. Similar to Godflesh, it sports a top 5 and a top 10--the exact same numbers, in fact. The split here may be more severe from a certain angle; 5 of the rankings are in the top half, and the other 4 are all bottom 10s, 3 being bottom 5s and one of those being a dreaded #50. This was the song I mentioned in a ballot update as having sunk to the bottom 10 from the top 10 at one point, and it took wild swings like that with literally every single ranking.

#29 was tied with #30, and came out on top by virtue of only having the 5th highest SD. Two top 10s are nixed again, but this time neither are top 5s, and its top half rank count is only 4. Three bottom 5s, mostly from the middle of the submissions, killed this song's early top 25 aspirations, and it occasionally dipped into the low 30s before landing here. This is the last tie, by the way, so if you don't like how I've been breaking them, at least we won't have to deal with them again.

#28 dismisses with another top 5. No other top 10s, though one ranking comes close, and just one other in the top half. This song benefitted from a lack of real tanking; the only bottom 10 is not even a low one. This song never left the top 30, but its early top 25 appearances proved to be a mirage.

But wouldn't it be something if this was my 41? :kii:

Surprised, but not upset that this lasted so long. Certainly escaped the bottom ten expectations that it had.

#27 is our 6th lowest SD. It shares some stats with #28 (3 top half ranks, 1 high bottom 10). However, this song doesn't have a top 10, and it's 30s range ranks are clustered a little higher. Also unlike #28, this song's unremarkable profile would've risked a low 30s finish without a few late benefactors.

#26 is our 10th highest SD, but it's an abject lesson in not associating the accessibilty of a song too strongly with its SD. We eliminate one top 10 for a person who's had things easy to this point, and two more top 15 ranks. Those are the only top half ranks. Two bottom 10s are unburdened, with one being a #50. This song actually hit the top 10 midway through the game, then it crashed back into the 20-25 range before dropping just out of the top half.

I know you said you liked all the songs, craziaskowboi, but I must say this was an odd...choice...for your #50. *rimshot* @humanshazam and I got a pair of perfect rankings out of it, so that's nice. I have a feeling "nice" isn't the word rowellfarm490 will use for this reveal, though.

#25 continues a string of #50 losses, though it is this song's only bottom 10, and it was cancelled out for the most part by three top 20s, one being a top 5. This song was quick to find its footing as a low top 25, aside from a blip as an 18 around the back half of ballots.
