This is probably Ozzy.

I feel Ozzy is the "preferable" option here. Can this not be my #4? That would be nice.

Ozzy solo finally makes the top half of a rock rankdown, and it only took going 20 years back in time to do it. That'll be cold comfort, though, as this song showed top 10 potential. The miracle run ends for Lordef†ones.

Note how I had "preferable" in quotes. Even though I really like this song, it was one of the lowest songs remaining for me.
Had this been something like "Bark at the Moon" or "Mr. Crowley", I would have had Ozzy close to the top ten, or perhaps even in it.

#12 has three top 10s, one being a top 5. Overall, it has seven top 20s. Because of this, it was an early top 10 contender, before being wrecked by a bottom 10. It then worked its way from 20 to where it ends up.

This is my favorite Ozzy song. You guys must really dislike him. I expected my #1 out before this.

Was rooting for this one the closer it got to top ten. Still a really good showing for it.

Wow, what a gap between Rowell and Shazam. Guess my top ten is falling apart now.

If you participated in this rankdown, you're likely in one of two minds about #11. Either you will be heartbroken this song did not stay in for just more day (as five of you ranked it in the top 10 yourself, three of you top 5 even), or you may think it's a fine track, but are a little confused as to why it hasn't left by now (all 4 other ranks are between 25-40). Owing to that split, we see the 7th highest SD go out here. This song was on fire early. Then its support dried up until it left the top 15. Finally, it made a late push that came just short of top 10 (in terms of position, not points; in terms of this rankdown, the 12-point difference between #11 and #10 is kind of big).

Given that my lowest ranking is my 23, I'm guaranteed to be losing a top ten here again.
Hmm...this might be Bathory. :(

After over half of us mourn, let's step back and truly consider the fact that a black metal song nearly made a Pulse rankdown top 10. That may turn out to be the dopest shit to happen on this forum all year.

Ladies and gentleman, your top 10! Iron Maiden - Wasted Years Metallica - Fade to Black Anthrax - Medusa Black Sabbath - Neon Knights Judas Priest - Jawbreaker Ministry - Burning Inside Megadeth - Wake Up Dead Motörhead - Ace of Spades Slayer - Hell Awaits Danzig - Mother Some quick and typical questions for you to brew on until tomorrow: What are you surprised to see miss the top 10? Conversely, what are you surprised to see make the top 10? Want to try and predict the top 10 in order, including the winner? I'll be posting the last two extras, too, in a bit.

Goddammit, this was my favorite discovery. Such an epic song. We've had our differences in this rankdown, shazam, but we could absolutely agree on one thing: "A Fine Day to Die" was freaking great. Greatly disappointed by this, it was one of the songs I was really rooting for. But I can't say that I'm surprised, either. :/

The theme for the final day of extras is It's Not You, It's Me, or, the closest I got to inserting artists I don't personally quite hold in as high esteem as the metal community at large. EXTRAWe Rock DioShare your thoughts on this song below! Dio's first two albums have maybe the flimsiest pedestals in the 80s metal pantheon to me. Sorry! Despite that, I knew Mr. Ronnie James had to show up in the list somewhere; he's an unignorably awesome singer. "Neon Knights" slightly beat this song out, just for the tantalizing package deal of representing Dio and Sabbath.

EXTRA
Halloween HelloweenShare your thoughts on this song below! If I loved Power Metal, I would think these guys are gods. As is, they're still pretty good. However, this is the only song that came close to making the cut. I enjoy it quite a lot, even...but, for Christ's sake, 13 minutes. I could seriously fit the two most clearly power metal-tinged songs I do have on this list ("Harder Than Steel", "Valley of the Dolls") inside the song and have time to spare. And the list's length was already a bit bloated.

Any Dio song except for maybe We Rock would've been my #1. Rainbow In The Dark? All The Fools Sailed Away? Or even just go cliche and pick Holy Diver, either way Dio fucking rocks.

i've only even heard of 15 out of the 50 artists...i predict Mother & Ace Of Spades to battle it out for the top
fwiw, i (probably) would've picked Ministry's "Burning Inside" as my #1...glad to see it made the top 10

20. Crystal Logic - Manilla Road Great song. The guitars works in this spell out early 80's.
19. Riot of Violence - Kreator The best thing about this song is that album art.
18. Thunder and Lightning - Thin Lizzy This isn't exactly the Thin Lizzy I love. His vocals do not flow easy with the song's melody, but I think that was the point? It does have killer guitars tho.
17. Omens - King Diamond Damn! this is such an awesome song. The whole production screams 80's. The vocals are the best part here. They way his tone goes up and down. The screams. That synth and guitar solo was just the bonus I was waiting for in one of these songs. For me it had the most variety. One listen and I knew it was my #1 song.
16. Stronger Than Hate - Sepultura I have never liked Sepultra.
15. Curse of the Pharaohs - Mercyful Fate Another song from 1983. A lot of King Diamond vibe. Anotherone of those LPs I found on discount and bought for the album art. Lucky me. It had Fierce music. This elimination probably leaves me with only BIG Name bands in my top.
14. The Marshall Arts - Razor One thing about Thrash metal. The less vocals, the better it sounds to me.
13. Over the Mountain - Ozzy Osbourne Ozzy is awesome. No one played the guitars like Randy Rhodes. Is it safe to say, we all own the Diary of a Madman LP?
12. Am I Evil? - Diamond Head DAMN! I admit I know little about 90's Metal, but I know my classic Metal. We probably wouldn't have Metallica nor Megadeth without Diamond Head? Not to mention half the 80's Metal bands. Not surprised ,bu kinda disappointed at most of you.
11. A Fine Day to Die - Bathory For some reason I wanted to like this more, but just didn't click, but after previewing a few more tracks, I found the song much more appealing coupled with . "Oden's Ride Over Nordland" Something about the horses and chanting like melo, seemed like the perfect introduction to the song.
EXTRA:
We Rock - Dio I have this LP. Clasic Metal.
Halloween - Helloween You know I gotta love every second of this 13 minute classic.

Stats to mull over before the reveal of our top 10: - A total of 48 top 10 ranks are spread amongst these songs, for an average of 5.33 per player.
- Four of these songs have #1s. I will only point out in previews when a song does not have a #1.
- Only 3 players retain bottom 10s.
Let's go.

As I mentioned yesterday, #10 cleared "A Fine Day to Die" by 12 points, but it didn't do that by its own top 10 tonnage. It only has three top 10s, one of those being a top 5 (no #1s). Instead, #10's strength was a near-lack of bottom half rankings--anyway, it's the first song to have no bottom 20 rankings. As a result, this is our 7th lowest SD. This song kept accumulating enough points throughout, even without many top 10 boosts, to be in all but 3 top 10s, and reached as high as 6.

#9 is a song where the love is definitely apparent. Two top 5s (the higher being a #2), three more top 10s, and two more top 20s. This song took one major blow--one of our final remaining bottom 10s. That hit came early, though, and it wasted no time recovering, eventually spending the last four lists at either 10 or 9.
