The main attraction of I'm Breathless for me is how rich her voice sounds. Presumably "Rescue Me" was recorded in the same time period, and she sounds great on it too. Yeah, this. Overall, it's a fun concept album I don't revisit often, but vocally it's one of my favs from her. I'll never understand the narrative that Madonna couldn't sing. I'd say all the way through American Life, she was always a committed and expressive singer. And quite frankly, she was a more effective vocalist than any girl we have at top 40 currently regardless of their alleged range (I ain't saying no names).

Agree. Madonna has shown she can deliver when need be. From an understated but powerful ballad like Live to Tell, to the strong and inspirational Like a Prayer to the assertive and defiant Express yourself to the more tender and poignant Oh Father, to the disappointed but forceful You’ll See to the hopeful mystique of Frozen and exuberance and fearlessness of Ray of Light. And many more. She has enough proof to me of being a pretty good singer, even if she’ll never be a belter.

Madonna's concert in Copacabana is confirmed and should be the biggest of her career
Yes, it's true: Madonna will come to Brazil for a mega concert on May 4 at Copacabana Beach, with the potential to become the biggest of the four-decade career that the Queen of Pop is celebrating.
The singer arrives in Rio de Janeiro in two months at the invitation of Itaú Unibanco, for whom she recently starred in a campaign for the bank's 100th anniversary. Negotiations are closed, although there are still details under discussion (accommodation is one of them: Madonna should stay at the Copacabana Palace).
(Madonna's) record, so far, is from a concert in Paris, in 1987, with 130,000 spectators, a number that in Copacabana can easily be beaten. The last New Year's Eve had more than 3 million people on the sands, repeating the public successes of the New Year's Eve with Jorge Ben Jor, in 1993, and Rod Stewart, in 1995.

Breathless is a fun listen. The songs she co-wrote/-produced fit the character well. Of the Sondheim songs, "Sooner or Later" is the highlight, though "More" isn't far behind. "What Can You Lose" is pretty, though.
She threw a curveball in terms of what fans were to expect from the album, though, with "Vogue." With the album, fans were exposed to different styles of music- not necessarily commercially friendly for the time period- which was a good thing.

Is this show worth seeing from nosebleeds? Considering getting a Saturday ticket in LA and that's really all that's left. Hoping for a day of miracle too, but want to plan accordingly.

Madonna has ALWAYS been a provocateur first, dancer second, singer third, but, even saying that, I can't think of a single time she gave a BAD vocal on record. Her vocals have always been serviceable for the song and done what they needed to do. Also, the vocal lessons she took for Evita definitely gave her a richer timbre, which positively impacted everything from Ray Of Light forward.

I sat in the nosebleeds and didn't miss a thing. In fact, I think it was easier to see everything because of all the height and depth of different pieces of the stage. I wish I could see it again and I look forward to the concert film.

I am in a literal gay coma with what just happened on stage infront of me.
Had Paris Hilton, Kathy Griffin, Sia, the lady from my big fat Greek wedding sitting behind us. Olivia Wilde, Connie Britton and Julian Nicholson and Ali Wong in front of me.
Plus Jean Batiste, Lenny Kravitz, Jeff Besos.
I am fucking dead.

CNN Madonna is revealing more about her near-death health scare By Marianne Garvey, CNN www.cnn.com/2024/03/06/entertainment/madonna-health-scare/index.htmlMadonna is talking about how serious her health emergency was last summer. She told the crowd at the opening of a five-night run for “The Celebration Tour” in Los Angeles that her doctor, Dr. David Agus, and more of her medical team were in the audience. “It was a strange thing to finally not feel like I was in control,” she said of the bacterial infection that landed her in the ICU last July. According to video shared of her remarks, Madonna continued, saying, “I have fallen off a lot of horses and broken a lot of bones. I have a titanium hip. I mean, the list goes on and on, but nothing can stop me.” Madonna, who has spoken about her recovery at times during previous tour performances, described her medical scare as a “near-death experience.” “I’m not kidding. It was pretty scary. Obviously, I didn’t know for four days, because I was in an induced coma. But when I woke up, the first word I said was ‘No.’ Anyway, that’s what my assistant tells me.” She added, “I’m pretty sure that God was saying to me, ‘Do you wanna come with us? You wanna come with me? You wanna go this way?’ And I said, ‘No. No. No!” She called Dr. Agus “a very special man in the audience tonight.” “He’s put up with so many entertaining phone calls from me. When I was sick this summer and I literally couldn’t walk from my bed to the toilet, I would call him every other day and ask him why I didn’t have any energy,” she said. “When was my energy gonna come back? When was I gonna feel myself again? When could I go back on tour again? When, when, when, when, when, when, when? And all he would say was, ‘Go outside in the sun.’” When she replied that her pristine skin was a result of staying out of the sun, Dr. Agus explained, “Go outside in the sun. You need vitamin D so your kidneys will keep working.” “And I hate the sun, but I did it anyways, and it was so hard for me to walk from my house to the backyard and sit in the sun,” Madonna said. “I know that sounds insane, but it was difficult, and I didn’t know when I could get up again and when I could be myself again and when I would have my energy back. It was a strange thing to finally not feel like I was in control. And that was my lesson to let go.” She concluded with a thanks to “everyone who’s here that took care of me and listened to all of my endless complaining and need for predictions that I could not have. You are patient and you are kind, and you still are. You still help me take care of everybody I know that’s sick. Thank you so much, wherever you are.” And finally with a thanks to her children, who “really helped me pull through, because they worked so hard and… I didn’t want to let them down.”

What's the overall consensus among Madonna fans of the I'm Breathless soundtrack? I'm kinda obsessed with Hanky Panky, Back In Business and More... I think it's fun and different I love the album, all the songs are good. I do stream it every once in awhile.

I think it is great, but then again, I am a big showtune / Broadway fan. The only song I skip on this album is "He's a Man."

The Entertainment Weekly review at the time was positive. Slant gave it 4/5 starts, though that was well after its release so maybe not relevant.

Saw her in LA on Saturday. Was a liiiiitle bummed there was no special guest but she was absolutely amazing! Loved the show beyond and while I have some notes on the setlist, I was really glad to hear LAP, Take a Bow, Vogue, and Live to Tell, which I don't believe she performed on the Rebel Heart tour, which was the only other time I saw her previously.

Me too! I guess the special guest was Alexa Demie, from Euphoria and she was a part of Madonna’s biopic boot camp. I had no clue until I looked it up. But my boyfriend was really excited to see Bob the Drag Queen as the host. I forgot to tell him, haha. My favorite moments had to be the “Live to Tell” and “Erotica” performances. Finally happy I got to see her live!

^^ Katy Perry and Anitta were there too.
Still on a high from Thursday night, and my voice has still not come back. We almost went on Monday night but were so exhausted and plus we had to fly out at 6:30 the next morning.
Cannot wait to see her in Atlanta(this time I am dressing up for sure).

I wonder how they get the celebrities to participate? Do her reps call their reps and invite them to the show? Do they just take a gander as to who might be at the show that night and make an on the spot invite? The latter seems rather risky, because what if no famous people are there that night.

Well Paris Hilton said she received a DM from Madonna directly, so there's that, but obviously that wouldn't work with everyone we have seen so far.
