Garden hasn't grown on me so far, and I'm not a huge fan of Genesis either, but the other songs I love! I might end up loving the whole thing because the dislike list included Homesick and IDGAF and recently I've been loving both.
The best song on that album is Be The One IMO, but New Rules is pretty close behind.

^ I think the top songs imo are most of the singles
HTH, BTO, New Rules, LIYL, Last Dance, & BYM The other 2 I'd add on are Room For 2 & New Love
Though overall it really is a great record

So today I decided to take the time to make a review for an album I think a lot of people should check out It's one of my favorites from 2012, Marina & the Diamonds - "Electra Heart" The album is her 2nd album, it is more of a concept album in which Marina plays the role of a character she created named "Electra Heart" It is a very electropop album, that sees her sing about a character who comes off as a strong cold-hearted controlling bitch who eventually grows to fall apart towards the end of the record, as her habits are reckless and she is trying to be something that she isn't. I really suggest this album and literally Marina as a whole if anyone is looking for a new type of artist, though I should say all 3 of her album's are pretty different from one another, I like them all a lot though. Marina and the Diamonds - "Electra Heart" (2012)Background: This 2012 record is a concept album that sees Marina playing the role of a character named "Electra Heart" who lives off reckless habits, wild love, and thirst for control. However, the record progresses to show how this eventually begins to fall apart as the record progresses, by the end of it all, it's hopeless and the character kills herself at the end. It's a heavy electropop record with some softer moments, but overall Marina sings about love, heartbreak, and such in her unique rich voice. The album version I'm using is 17 tracks long and includes all the NA & International exclusives, plus there are 2 bonus songs that associate with this album but were not released in conjunction with it.
1.Bubblegum Bitch
The opening track is punk pop that sets the tone for the record, one of the lyrics being "Dear diary we fell apart, welcome to the life of Electra Heart" lyrically about this character being a beauty queen but intoxicating, with her wild habits. The song is total fun and does set the scene for the rest of the record's lyrical content and sound 10/102. PrimadonnaThe lead single off the record is a fun electropop number about desiring to be adored with her inflated ego and the to have it all. The song is one of the first songs I heard from Marina, I've always loved it since I first heard it, it picks up with the lyricism of Bubblegum Bitch, but furthers it greatly. 10/10
3. Lies
One of the softer but also darker songs on the record, it's lyrically about a love in which the guy is being a coward and it's falling apart, though Marina doesn't want to let it go. A very distinct but good shift from the first 2 tracks, I also really enjoyed this one. 9.5/10
4. HomewreckerThe final part of Marina's trio, or at least she considers it that. Homewrecker continues with Bubblegum Bitch & Primadonna as a trio in her eyes. It's also a total 180 from Lies, in which Marina is not the victim now but rather the killer. Marina sings spoken-word verses that soon enough break into a harder chorus in which she embraces her reckless habits as a Homewrecker, furthering my point of this character she made being a reckless heartbreaker. 10/10
5. Starring RoleAnother darker electropop song on the record about how this character desires to be the main girl to her lover and won't settle for anything else, frustrating her. Singing that she'd rather walk alone than be a supporting role. I like this one a lot and think it's the start of a shift in the album from it's recklessness to the more serious songs. 9.5/106. The State Of DreamingA not so heavy electro-pop but rather pure pop that sees Marina begin singing about how this character on the outside is something she really isn't, her core is lost, her "life is a play", the song being inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe. The song shifts into a upbeat tone in the chorus though it's melancholic lyrics are a total juxtaposition. I LOVE the living crap out of this cause it signifies a shift in the album and stands out from the much more heavier produced songs. 10/10 7. Power & ControlA return to the electropop songs, this one is about the power struggles often found in a relationship and how love is game, as one person wants more and how Marina desires to take control, by the end of it declaring "You can't have peace without a war". Another one of my top favorites cause it's very relate-able and doesn't go too farfetched like some of the other songs do. 10/108. Living DeadOne of the darker electropop numbers about how this character is living in a black hole of melancholy and that she is dead inside. It's a call to how she is hiding her inner self and is failing to get the power to overcome it and start living her life, hence she is living dead. 10/10
9. Teen Idle
One of the saddest songs on the record, the song is more personal since it is influenced by her teenage years, whilst in the context of the record, Electra Heart wishes that she was different in her teenage years. 10/10
10. Valley Of the Dolls
Inspired by her time living in LA and the film of the same name, Marina sings of how she was living in a void, a superficial place hence "living with identities" being one of the lines. It also has similar context in the record's story, as the Electra is living a superficial life herself and is coming to realize it. 10/10 11. Hypocrates
Another top favorite, it also feels more like a song you'd find in her debut album "The Family Jewels"., the song is about hypocrisy in her partner. In the context of the record, I believe it's more of Electra's real self calling out the superficial her, as she isn't being who she really is and is living a lie, yet does so knowingly. 10/10
12. Fear and Loathing
The closing track of the standard edition of the song is also one of the darkest songs on it, it's lyrically about cutting yourself from the chains that hold you down, letting go of the past. A fitting closer in the context of the album's story too, as Marina is learning to cut Electra out of her and become who she really is. 10/10
13. Radioactive
One of the tracks that is differently placed in the US version, being before Fear and Loathing. The song is an upbeat electropop number about being blinded by love and losing control, Marina sings "My heart is nuclear", showing the wildness of this character she made, having the same context in the story of this album. 10/10
14. Sex YeahPlaced ahead of Power & Control in the US version of the album, the song sees Marina criticizing the enforcement of gender roles in society, both male and female. I absolutely love the message of this one, I think in the context in the album's story it's another self-criticism song towards Electra and her sexual nature. 10/10
15. Lonely Hearts Club
One of UK deluxe songs, the songs is about being apart of a group of people with dysfunctional love, called the lonely hearts club. I'm gonna suppose in the context of the album, the lonely hearts club is a place in her mind for Electra who is dysfunctional af, as she questions if anyone would want to be somebody like her. 10/10
16. Buy The Stars
A sad but endearing piano ballad that has several meanings, the one that is mostly agreed on is that it's about her father. Marina wants to be independent from her father as he can't own her, she is free, she is the "star'. I have no clue how this one fits in the album's story, idk if it does though cause it is one of the bonus tracks after all. Still a beautiful song 10/10
17. How To Be A Heartbreaker
Before Radioactive & Fear & Loathing in the US version, this song is another total electropop jam that is a guide on how to break hearts split into rules. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ONE, it's such a f**king total pop banger and flawless, it was one of my first Marina songs too and a fan faved. 10/10
BONUS: 2 songs that coincide with this album that got released separately from the record will be included
1. E.V.O.L
A special free song released on Valentines of 2014 (convenient day to review this album huh ), the song is in the same vein of the record, it is about how one thing goes wrong in a relationship and the love becomes sour, hence the backwards title EVOL, being close to the word evil and it's love backwards. 10/10
2. Electra Heart
The real closer to the album, the song was released stand alone in 2014 to signify to end of the era and the death of the titular character, as she owns up to the truth and the revelation comes, as sh sees the light. Literally and figuratively, as the end of the era Electra Heart commits suicide via sleeping pills as said by Marina herself. A perfect true ending to an amazing album imo 10/10
FINAL THOUGHTS: 10/10 Pop Perfection mixed with a great story concept
I kid you not this album is pretty much my holy book , I just love everything about it from start to finish, zero bad songs and such. It really made me like Marina a lot and showed a cool change from her debut, overall I really suggest checking her out. I do plan to cover The Family Jewels & FROOT on some point with these reviews, anywho thanks for reading Until next time Leave all your requests below honeys

Great review of Electra Heart! This is probably my second favorite album by Marina behind Family Jewels. Although I'm missing the more personal sound of the production in her first album, I am loving the more polished pop sound of Electra Heart too. I agree with you about The State of Dreaming. It's one of my favorite tracks on the album and i love it's uplifting sound.

The Family Jewels is my favorite of the 3 albums too Family Jewels just has such a quirky personal feel that Marina just exuberantly shines Especially on Mowgli's Road, Oh No!, Seventeen, etc That whole album is just so well written too, like Are You Satisfied kicks off the album so well I also think her voice on it is more quirky, which I think adds more charm On Electra Heart a lot of is like refined alongside the production, which is also great But the feelings from TFJ's sounds just are to adore. Overall all 3 of her albums are great

Love the reviews!!!
Some comments: I'm so glad you reviewed Electra Heart!!!! That album is simply magical!
Am I the only one who thinks the following about "Bad Influence" on Funhouse? From the first time I heard it, I thought it was a veneer for partying hard to cover how much she was hurting over her problems. I contrast it with "Cuz I Can" on I'm Not Dead which is more like her earlier work of just being dirty fun. "Bad Influence" creates a soundscape of spinning around, ignoring ones problems by drowning them in dancing and alcohol, and waiting to fall off the merry-go-round and pass out so sleep occurs before theirs time to think. It's also about pulling in people to party with you while spiraling out so they don't ask about your feelings and also critiquing her party-hard ways from her younger days.

Robyn - "Body Talk" (2010)Background: The 7th album from Swedish queen Robyn released in late 2010, the album is comprised of 3 previous EP releases, titled Body Talk Pt.1-Pt.3. The album is very dance/synth-pop inspired and spawned singles like "Dancing On My Own" & "Call Your Girlfriend". 1. Dancing On My Own The lead single off the first EP and kicked off this whole project, the song is a fun dance-pop number about seeing your ex with someone new at the club, hence Robyn is dancing alone. The song is so sad lyrically but is juxtaposed by such a fun melody that just makes it such a jam, I loved this. The song was covered by some guy from Britain's Got Talent and that version was a bigger success for some reason, even managing to chart in the US where the original couldn't. IMO that version holds 0 candles to the original, the original is a fucking modern pop masterpiece that should've been BIG. 10/10
2. Fembot A synth-pop inspired number, that is pretty humorous and has a lot of double entendres about sex, the song is inspired by Robyn who was entering her 30's at the time and the idea of her having kids. The song imo is very in the vain of the work of Dev, which I like and t's just mindless fun. 8.5/10
3. Don't Fucking Tell Me What To DoA pretty lifeless track that is about several things killing her and saying the title line, it's not a shiny moment at all in the record, since it's basically talking and no singing that drags on for 4 minutes. 3/10
4. Indestructible A proper return to sound, this song is another dance-pop track about falling in love with someone new, the joys and fears that come with it. A fun upbeat number and proper fix to the right direction that this record should be heading for, I love the production on this one. 8.5/10
5. Time Machine A Max Martin & Shellback produced number, this is one of the fun uptempos that is also juxtaposed by sad lyrics about wanting to go back in time and fix a broken love, I really enjoy this one. 9/10
6. Love Kills Another upbeat electro-pop track, this one being about the fears and pains that love can bring, similar in the vein of some of many of the other tracks, though it doesn't stick itself out from the crowd all too much 7.5/10
7. Hang With Me One of the funner tracks, this one being about finding someone who fits with you and eventually falling in love with that person who stays with you, the song is very similar to DOMO in sound, which works in it's favor. 9/10
8. Call Your Girlfriend One of the highlights of the record imo, it's a electropop ballads about telling your lover to break up with their current partner, in a gentle way. I honestly love this one cause it's fun and written well, the thumping production is simple but fits like a glove. 10/10
9. None Of Dem (ft Röyksopp) A collab with Norweigan electro music duo Röyksopp, the song is about wanting to leave a place where your just not interested in anyone, it's another simpler track that is a bit forgettable 7.5/10
10. We Dance To The Beat Practically the same problems as Track #3 is here, except it's not as baaaaad, but it's something I'll never really visit like ever again 4/10 11. U Should Know Better (ft Snoop Dogg) A return to super upbeat fun numbers, it's a collab with Snoop with a very fast-paced fun production about being a badass that no one should fuck with. A very fun highlight of this project 8.5/10
12. Dancehall Queen This one is a dancehall/reggae influenced sound mixed with 80's synths, it's an interesting combo inspired by Ace Of Base while working with Diplo. A simple fun number 8/1013. Get Myself Together Another album track, the song is a dance-poppy number about fixing yourself and becoming one again. A simple but fun groovy song 8/10
14. In My Eyes Another fun dance-pop track though a bit cute imo, it's dedicated to her fans and she's telling them that we all make mistakes and thats ok, we're all stars in her eyes. 9/10
15. Stars 4-Ever The final track is a fun number about true lovers who are shining stars that are together forever, a simple but nice closer to this record 8.5/10
Final Thoughts: 8/10 The record is very fun and upbeatt though it's kinda very samey throughout and only very few of the songs stick out from it imo, it's a bit disappointing considering Dancing On My Own is like perfection, but most of the album isn't really up to par as it.

Great review! I agree with pretty much all of your points. The second half suffers a little as all the singles are in the first half, but yeah, very good album. :)

I think I agree with you. The production of the songs is incredible but they're all following the same pattern. This could've easily been better were the songs diverse.

Tbh, I mostly just listen to the Body Talk Pt. 3 EP and "Dancing On My Own." Otherwise, if I'm a Robyn mood, I queue up all three EPs, which I think are better sequenced.

Hayley Kiyoko - "Expectations" (2018)Background: The debut studio album by Hayley Kiyoko, she is a very bisexual and open artist ever since she debuted with her 1st EP in 2013. Since then she has had 3 EP's and is now releasing her 1st full album. A lot of people probably recognize her as she starred is Disney's "Lemonade Mouth", was a recurring character for a few episodes of "Wizards of Waverly Place", and also starred as Velma in the 2009 & 2010 Scooby Doo films. Also she was apart of the short lived girl group "The Stunners", which also included a baby Tinashe, though the group flopped and split after one EP and some singles. Hayley Kiyoko has gained a cult following given hr very open bisexual nature and her music videos, jump starting with her viral hit "Girls Like Girls", she'd go on to grow even more. This album is 13 songs long, some of which are interludes and some of these tracks are a 2 in 1 type ala Lorde's - "Hard Feelings/Loveless", she has only one feature on this album and that being Kehlani.1. Expectations (Overture) The opening interlude of the album, it is a few seconds short of 2 minutes and it mainly features a building up production to mainly hype up the album. I really like the production especially when it grows more and more during the final seconds, it hyped me up enough and does it's job as an interlude. 10/102. FeelingsOne of the songs preceding the release of the album, being released in October. The song is an uptempo catchy pop number about openly falling for someone and being so attached to them, it's a super catchy song and I been bopping to it since it came out. She also dropped a music video for it as well. 10/10 3. What I Need (ft Kehlani) I fucking love Kehlani and Hayley, so this is one divine duet. The two sing together throughout the song together about making sure the other is actually in love with one another and if this love is actually legit. Over another catchy production and melody, is another total upbeat jam and I love the chemistry between the two bisexual queeeeeeens, I hope this becomes a single or gets a sexy video 10/10
4. Sleepover The lead single off the record, it came out in March of 2017 and is another song I been bopping to since. The song is a bit more sadder but still catchy, it's about loving a friend who is oblivious to how you feel about them. A very RELATABLE lyrical theme and it's executed so well with both the song and video for it tackle it very well 10/10 5. Mercy/Gatekeeper One of the 2 in 1 specials, this track is split into two separate songs. The 1st part Mercy about trying to get over the hurt of a relationship, potentially a followup of the dilemma in Sleepover, it's a another really catchy song with again very relatable lyrics. Part 2 of the song starts once the song hits the 3 minute mark, it shifts into a much more upbeat number about hiding how your feeling, this part also has a spoken word interlude that in detail furthers the theme of hiding your feelings behind a gate and being the gatekeeper. The song then closes with the chorus of Mercy playing out again in a different key at the end. A really good combo and again very relatable lyrically. 10/10
6. Under The Blue/Take Me In Another 2 in 1 special, part 1 Under The Blue is another catchy pop number lyrically it's about going down under with your feelings hence the name "under the blue" again another relatable catchy song. Around the 4 minute mark Take Me In begins and shows a shift in production sounding a bit guitar like and darker and it repeats lyrics of Part 1 but they're changed up in sound and makes it unique again. 10/107. Curious The current and 3rd single of the record is a super spring-summer friendly pop number about a girl who loves Hayley but isn't expressing it entirely and is at the same time in a relationship with a guy, all the signs are clear that this chic likes Hayley but she's clearly trifling with someone else, but Hayley is unphased by it. I LOVE ITTTTT 10/10 8. XXThe 2nd and final interlude of the album and it just breaks the ice a bit between Curious and the next song and it also leads into track #9's sound well. It does its job as an interlude well so yeah 10/10 9. Wanna Be Missed One of the slower songs and a departure, it's about the desire of still being on the mind of an ex despite that things are over, the most vulnerable of the songs on the album. with very simple but relatable lyrics. 10/10
10. He'll Never Love You (HNLY) This song is interesting it starts up with the opening that sounds like from a tape recording of an old Latin song, then it cuts into the real song. The song starts up and is a midtempo with very light Latin hints in the production about probably the same girl in Curious who isn't being honest with her feelings for Hayley but she's trifling still and is with a guy. SO Hayley is just letting her know that she is thirsty for her and that the girl's guy won't love her like how she did. I love this one as well 10/1011. Palm Dreams An upbeat dreamy number mainly about California dreaming and such, it's a very chill but catchy number that fits seamlessly to the sound of the record 10/10
12. Molecules Another midtempo about getting over someone even though traces or molecules of them linger around you but then it breaks into a upbeat chorus that is a bit of juxtaposition to the sad undertones of the song. 10/10
13. Let It Be The final song and a fitting end it's a track about getting over someone and just letting the past be and moving on with your life, using it as an experience. It's a simple song that is done very well in the context of the album and wraps the ribbon around what is a story album from start to finish, being the end to this story. 10/10
Final Thoughts: 10/10 A fun pop cohesive listen from start to finish that is written very well and produced in a way that fits, her lyrics are very grounded and relatable to the heart. I REALLY SUGGEST CHECKING THIS ALBUM OUT TOMORROW FOR YOURSELF, plus her other stuff. She is referred to as the Lesbian Jesus for a reason by her fans lol, trust me she is so grounded and refreshing especially in her videos and interviews. 20 gay teen is upon us ya'll, anywho I'm out baaaaaaaaaaaaai

Sorry for being so late, but I FINALLY listened to Hayley Kiyoko album and I love it! I like Sleepover, Curious, Wanna Be Missed, HNLY, Palm Dreams, Molecules, Feelings, and Let It Be. The compositions and production are very pretty and well-done. Perfect maybe for a late night drive. Great album. :)

Taylor Swift - "reputation" (2017)Background: The 2017 comeback album of the queen of snakes T Swift, an album that delves into a much more moodier nature that embraces the bad publicity she had been getting whilst having elements reminiscent of 1989 and it's own unique electropop sound. The album is 15 tracks long and each track offers something different, some better than others.1. ...Ready For It?The opening track is a fast paced electropop song with thudding beats at the intro and a strong production throughout. It immediately rushes into rap sung verses by Swift, a first from the singer and it progresses to a more natural chorus. The song suits perfectly as an opening track and definitely is an exciting one. I fell in love with it instantly and I loved the wordplay especially on the lyrics like "And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor" and so on. 9.5/102. End Game (ft Ed Sheeran & Future)The 2nd track to the album is just about as in your face as RFI though it's also star studded given it's featured artists. I was surprised that I actually really liked the end product cause all 3 artists contribute to the song equally and the pacing of it all works. I also liked the "big reputation" chanting, I can see why some people don't like it though. Overall, it also works perfectly for me and carries the album forward 9/103. I Did Something Bad3 for 3 in terms of super in your face songs, I Did Something Bad is practically the sister song to Look What You Made Me Do and I could imagine it as the lead single if the other track never existed. I also really enjoyed this instantly and it was so unexpected, though when it comes after 2 very similar songs it can be a bit cumbersome. This one doesn't engage me just as much as the other two did and I actually stopped playing it for awhile. It is not bad at all and I still do enjoy it overall. 8/104. Don't Blame MeThis one is a change of pace greatly and very welcomed cause it the in your faceness kept going, it would have lost all of it's appeal. This always reminded me of Take Me To Church in structure and I hate that song, though I like this. The lyrics are good and the sound works well, though I don't play this one too often either. However, I really do enjoy it overall. 9/105. DelicateAnd the crystal heart of the album, Delicate is by far my top favorite of the record. It's such a chill song that is the opposite of what the album starts off with, being such a sweet midtempo that the album desperately needs to balance out the upbeat in your face nature it gives off. Overall, it has become my most played track and I am happy that it's fairing well as a single right now. 10/106. Look What You Made Me DoThe lead single of the album and the one that begun it all, it's placement takes back the recovery Delicate created and transitions us back into this madness. However, I absolutely love the madness in question that occurs in this track even though it's so over the top. It's so over the top that I can't help but love it especially once the music video came and sparked even more insanity. It's a top favorite of the album and does the best in terms of being really in your face but I still can't help but sing along to it. 10/107. So It Goes...A cold hard gem also of the album that often goes pretty unnoticed imo, it's so smoothly layered and starts the recovery train after LWYMMD. It's one of my personal underrated favorite cuts of the gem that shines bright upon each listen. I personally hope some justice comes for this one in some form one day. 10/108. GorgeousI'm actually one of the few people that has nothing against this aside from being underwhelmed after the overhyped fan reaction but T Swift fans are nutjobs so that's kinda my fault. I think it's pretty cute and silly but catchy and enjoyable at the same time. It does remind me a tiny bit of Blank Space, though this is pure corny Taylor. I don't mind it though and I listen to it regularly. 9/109. Getaway CarEssentially a 1989 leftover that found its way on this album, I have nothing against it but I'm not really crazy over it at all. It hits all the marks you'd get from a 1989 album track perfectly in it's sound and lyrics, but it also works on this album. I'm not crazy over it at all though, it's a good song though 8.5/1010. King Of My HeartA solid midtempo of the album though it's fairly forgettable but that doesn't mean it's bad at all. It doesn't have too much going for it aside from the synth processed vocal effects on the chorus and that really is about it. 8/10 11. Dancing With Our Hands TiedA fun upbeat symphonic number that has a blasting chorus that is just pure fun. I really enjoy this and consider it as one of the top tracks on the 2nd half of the album, the drop is a bit dated though but I can live with that. 9/1012. DressOne of the few duds of the album, it personally to me feels like a I Don't Wanna Live Forever recreation with the breathy chorus and similar production. I never cared for it and found it super forgettable and pale. 7/1013. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice ThingsMy least favorite of the album, it feels super misplaced and pointless since we already had 4 tracks worth of pure in your face Taylor. This one just feels super juvenile and contrived by this point in time in which she was making good recovery. 6/1014. Call It What You WantAnother perfect midtempo that recovers the damage of the last track, it's the type of song the album needs around it's closing minutes. I personally loved this one a lot and I think it should be a single after Delicate cause it's one of the true beauties that the album offers. 10/1015. New Year's DayThe perfect end to a very heavily produced album is a stripped ballad that captures the things that Taylor does best. It's simple but executed in the right way and I am happy with it being the closing track. 10/10Final Thoughts: 8.5/10 The album balances out upbeat in your face with softened midtempos, though there are a few cracks amongst it all. However, the whole project doesn't suffer from it and works out to be a pretty good album imo. It's definitely not the type of album for everyone but I enjoyed it. Highlights: Delicate, Look What You Made Me Do, So It Goes, Call It What You Want, and New Year's Day

Taylor Swift - Lover (2019)
Background: Taylor Swift's most recent album released late into last year, the album is the followup to 2017's reputation and sees her return to similar sounds to 1989 and reflect over her current relationship with Joe Alwyn. Swift her self calls the album "a love letter to love itself", now lets see if that statement is valid. 1. I Forgot You ExistedThe opening track of a record usually sets the tone and theme of an album and is usually pretty pivotal. This song just doesn't do that at all imo, this song feels very much like something from the second half of reputation. I can see why she put it on here as the opening, as a way of putting things behind her but damn the song is just kinda boring and forgetful. 6/102. Cruel SummerThis song is like a lost track for 1989, "a fever dream high" a lyric she says very early on is what this song is. The song is a very dreamy infectious song, an earworm if you will. I do enjoy this song but my main issue is that while it fits perfectly in the context of the album given that it's how her feelings for Joe began, the song itself is very 1989. Now I love 1989 but this song feels like it is treading over familiar territory and it is what makes it not a highlight for me. I do however love the songwriting on this track, many lines are very memorable. 7.5/103. LoverThe title track is also another pivotal part of any album usually, this song delivers on that front. I am a sucker for stripped down Taylor when it is executed well, this song is just that. The melody is here, the instrumental is very pleasing, the vocals are lovely, and most importantly the writing is fantastic. This song is easily one of my favorite thing on the album, not that the album has much more great songs to offer. Also the final repetitions of my, my, my closes out the song on a high note. 10/10 4. The ManProbably one of the most divisive songs on the album, Taylor uses this song to call out the things men get away with that women are unable to. The song has a nice melody and a catchy production, unfortunately I am not crazy about the song itself. I have no issues with songs like these at all and I do agree with a lot of it, but this song isn't all that appealing to me and is one of my least favorites on this album. 6/10
5. The ArcherHeading back into favorites territory, here is The Archer. The way this song opens up reminds me the playback noise old films make when you start them up and I really like that for some reason. This song is another lyrical high for the album, I love the comparison she makes to being an archer and being targeted by many things. I think it captures the theme of the album expertly of the vulnerability she feels and her clinging onto love as her way. The insecurity and vulnerability is portrayed very well on this track and I find it endearing. 10/106. I Think He KnowsNow this is the upbeat pop energy I love and it is a great contrast from previous track, the song exudes the confidence she feels from her love with Joe. The song builds up to a very upbeat dreamy chorus and I think the song's final post chorus is a total earworm. The song is the playful fun energy the album needed right after a very hard hitting personal track and definitely helps to carry on the overall theme. 9/107. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak PrinceThe moment I saw the title of this song I knew this would be a song that would definitely be very interesting and definitely turned out be nothing like how I expected it. Melodically the song feels very similar to So It Goes which is a song I absolutely loved. The lyrics on this song are mostly influenced by the last election and how people thought Swift would be a snake and support Hillary. The public's reception of her is compared to a high school romance, a thing that people usually look down upon. I do love the song and find it interesting that the song has very political undertones which was a far cry from what I expected. It was definitely a pleasant surprise and it is a song I come back to rather often. I do commend her taking a stance on all of this and that she speaks her mind very well without being blunt about it all. 9/108. Paper RingsThis song is another song I am not so crazy about. Melodically this feels like a juvenile reject meant for Avril Lavigne's debut album Let Go, the song is definitely very cute and fun. But it feels very left field and isn't really my favorite thing in the world. I get why it exists and how it fits in the album lyrically, it's really cute but still feels very juvenile. 6/109. Cornelia StreetThe song is another personal song that is about the uncertainty of her relationship with Joe and is influenced by the apartment she rented for awhile on Cornelia Street in Manhattan. I love the emotion on this song and it really is another focal point of her relationship with Joe. 9/1010. Death By A Thousand CutsThis song is the perfect follow up to Cornelia Street, it is about how her thinking that if she broke up with Joe it would be comparable to slow pain death, hence the title being death by a thousand cuts. A slow painful death would befall her is the analogy she is primarily makes. Also hands down my favorites lyrics of the album are on this album "I ask the traffic lights if it'll be alright, they say I don't know", the desperation and lack of direction she would feel in this situation is greatly captured by that line. 10/1011. London BoyThis song is another playful cute song and is obv about Joe, I do love the writing on this track and it is indeed a very cute lovey-dovey track. Though the song isn't my favorite thing on the album, I do find it a very cute track and a great shift from the previous two tracks. 8/1012. Soon You'll Get BetterDear fucking god this is a beautiful song, I never expected a song like this to come from this album and it really hits hard. Easily the most personal and endearing song on this record, it's just so beautiful and I am proud that she put out a song about her mother. I do hope things turn out well for her and this song is just so emotional and well done. 10/1013. False GodR&B Taylor Swift was something I didn't know I needed but here we are. This song is so smooth and slick and is another completely unexpected left-field track that is really well done. Upon album release this was the song I gravitated to the most and that sentiment still stands now. The sound suits her really well and I commend that she did something new that still manages to fit itself really well into the album and also lyrically play out very well. 10/1014. You Need To Calm DownThe second single of the album, I honestly was never crazy about this since it came out and I still don't really care for it. Though I do need to say the oh-oh-oh part of the chorus is an earworm. Aside from that, I do not care about this song at all but it isn't something I would turn off if it came on probably. Though, I never actively seek out this song ever on my own and I don't think I ever will. 6/10
15. AfterglowAh yes the dreamy pop goodness that is Afterglow, this song is just rich to my ears. I love the production and melody, I also love that this joins Back To December as one of the songs where she blames herself for her mistakes and faults. And Back To December is THAT bitch for me so this song gets a lot of love that song did. This song is just sonically so dreamy and gorgeous but the lyrics ground it very well. 10/1015. ME! Oooooooooh boy, ok so this is the worst song on the album. This song takes the juvenile feeling of Paper Rings and feels like a kids movie soundtrack song, it's a little cute but like largely cringy. NO ONE ASKED FOR THAT BRIDGE TAYLOR. Anyways, this wasn't lead single material and is easily one of the worst song she has ever put out. 4/10
16. It's Nice To Have A FriendI forget this song exists and it doesn't really do anything for me. It feels like an interlude and there is nothing wrong with it, but boy is it boring. 5/10 17. DaylightThis is another great track and a great closer, the song looks into the light of her relationship with Joe and she is ready to put her past behind her completely. With all of it leaving, the light is rolling in and she is ready to live her live with her lover. This song is another dreamy pop track that wraps this album up very well. 8.5/10OVERALL: 8/10The album perfectly encapsulates it's theme of her relationship, the struggles, the highs, and all in between. This album's biggest strength is it's emotional highs and more stripped down tracks which heavily show the faults in her love, herself, and etc. However, it balances it with fun energy pop tracks that do help show the goods in her love. Lover is an album that does definitely embody what relationships are like. My main problem with this album comes from some of it's tracks either not being too memorable or they are too juvenile so they usually are songs I forget about...or in the case of ME! I TRY to forget about. Her notch for writing and great melodies is still present on this track and when she hits hard, she hit HARD. Overall, it isn't my favorite Taylor record but I definitely do love it.

Lady Gaga - Chromatica (2020)Background: Gaga's 6th album sees her make a long desired return to a much more pop sound, primarily dance-pop that takes influences from disco, house, and electropop styling. Led by Stupid Love as its lead single, the album comes out in while most of the world is still in quarantine and helps bring some light into our lives during a dark time through fun uplifting melodies and bright dance productions. I was excited to see what the album has in store and I'll now share my thoughts on the record with you1. Chromatica IThe intro interlude to the album, it definitely gets you prepared for whats to come next. Not much else to say here since it is just instrumental, I won't be giving this or the other interludes a score of there own though. 2. AliceThe lead in from the interlude into this is seamless and it flows great. I absolutely love the production work that Bloodpop and Axwell work on this one, up there as a favorite. I do wish the verses on this one were longer, it also took some listens for me to grow into the second verse due to the vocal effect. The chorus is the strong point of this track, it's such a fun and upbeat start to the record, I just wish it was longer by like 30 seconds. 9.0/103. Stupid LoveThe lead single of the record, I really love the thumping production on this one. It took some time for me to grow into this when it came out but I really enjoy it now. The chorus is repetitive but it works and stays in your head. It's a really fun upbeat catchy number that I think is one of the few songs on the album that works as a single. 8.8/10
4. Rain On MeThe current and second single of the album, like many others I was very skeptical of the song at first. A collab between Ari and Gaga seemed very out there but here we are. Secondly, I also definitely feared that this would underwhelm me like Don't Call Me Angel did, but surprisingly it turned a lot better than expected. I think both singers shine on the song and compliment each other well, especially when they harmonize. The production to the song is probably my top favorite on the record, Bloodpop and Burns delivered there. The only thing that needed to grow on me was Gaga's spoken verse but I actually don't mind it now. Also, on a side note I fucking love the music video and the weather channel skits they did. 9.5/10
5. Free WomanSo I heard this one in full prior to the album's release since it leaked though it was an low quality leak. This one is pleasant, it's a simple fun upbeat number that Axwell lent his production efforts to again. It's a feel good dance floor empowerment song and it does its job well, I do like the message. I don't really care for much of anything else present on the song, it's fun but nothing I am crazy over. 8/106. Fun TonightOk so here's the first track on the album that I didn't really like. The song feels a bit juvenile, the production feels weak, and the song tries to go and be this vulnerable moment on the album and I honestly think it falls really flat. It feels really dated and not in the nostalgic way that most of the album has, it feels dated in a bad way. 5.7/107. Chromatica IIThe second interlude, it does its job to prepare for the very next song and it leads directly into it. 8. 911This one seems to be a highlight for almost everyone else but I am not into it personally. I don't like the vocal effects used on Gaga's voice throughout the entire song. Lyrically the song is about how Gaga is her biggest enemy and how she used popped antipsychotic meds to give herself a reset. But this one really just doesn't work for me, the production also is kind of just there for me. 6.8/10 9. Plastic DollAnother one that seems to be a highlight for others, it falls flat for me personally. It sonically reminds me heavily of something from the The Fame Monster, probably Monster in the verses. I don't like the whole AM-I-E thing she does in the intro and outro. Lyrically the song is about how society sees her as a perfect popstar which fits the bill of a plastic doll, kind of similar to Do What U Want from ARTPOP in which it is about her owning her soul and heart. The song is nice lyrically but it feels like a reject from the Fame era, which isn't a good thing. 6.5/1010. Sour CandyA collab with K-Pop girl group BLACKPINK, I think Gaga gets outshined on this song by all four members of the group. Gaga sounds a little cringy on the song while BLACKPINK effortlessly sound like a perfect fit on the song. Sonically it reminds me Tinie Tempah's & Zara Larsson's "Girls Like" in the production mainly being of the same house vein. I really would have liked this more if it were just a BLACKPINK track but I am growing into Gaga's part with repeated listens, so maybe in time I'll like it more. This is the only song on the record I can see being a single to be quite honest. 8.4/1011. EnigmaOne of the tracks I actually really enjoy, I love this slight ethereal futuristic feeling the song gives me. I love Gaga's voice on the chorus, being one of the stronger vocal moments on the album. I absolutely love the bridge and that final chorus is bliss. It's also pretty cool that this song is teased by a line from Aura in ARTPOP. 8.5/1012. ReplayProbably my favorite non single on the album, the production switchup from the chorus to the actual drop is amazing. It reminds me production wise something Giorgio Moroder would have done back in the day and styilistically feels very much like something Donna Summer would sing. I really love the throwback vibes present and it is incredibly catchy, a total highlight on the album. 9.4/1013. Chromatica IIIThe third interlude of the record, it serves its purpose as a lead in for the very next track 14. Sine From AboveI had high expectations for this track and I have to say I was really let down by this one. Lyrically the song is about her music and sound is her god, it heals her, it influences her, and keeps her going. The production on this one feels really basic and the chorus is pretty weak for me. I also didn't really care for the outro on the song either, a complete letdown if you ask me. 5.5/1015. 1000 DovesAnother favorite on the record for me, I really love Gaga's voice and the production here. It's a song that is about the power of love and that it gives her the strength to soar into the sky. It's another really catchy fun track that I enjoy. 8.7/1016. BabylonThe closing track to the record, this song completely reminds me Black Jesus + Amen Fashion but with a more throwback 90s production. I really enjoy this one as well, it's really catchy and it just feels like something you'd strut down a runway to, which is the same vibes Black Jesus gives me. I love her confident delivery and it's a complete fun track, the saxophone also is a great touch, I do wish the song was a bit longer too cause it's 20 seconds shy of being 3 minutes long. A really good closing track and it ends the album on a high note. 8.8/10Final Thoughts: 8/10
I do believe Gaga succeeds in delivering a really fun uplifting album filled with dancefloor jams that will light up any dancefloor. The album suffers from some tracks that fail to impress me and feels a little too weak for Gaga to be doing but overall I think the album works for me. In regards to how it ranks amongst Gaga's other works, it probably is down there with ARTPOP, and Joanne as my least favorite albums from her, not counting ASIB since that is a soundtrack. Not that either this, ARTPOP, or Joanne are bad, but they pale in comparison to her other work. I think this suffers in a similar way to ARTPOP to where a fraction of the song I love and there is a section of songs on the album that I find underwhelming or really weak. Fun Tonight to Plastic Doll is that weak section for me that I think weaken the album altogether. Aside from that, I do enjoy the album and will be listening to the songs I enjoyed for the next few months to come.

Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman (2016) Background: Following the massive success of her sophomore record My Everything and it catapulting her into a household name, Dangerous Woman followed the difficult task of being the next album and having to still carry on her success. Spawning 4 singles, 3 of which were pretty moderate hits, Dangerous Woman including all its limited and deluxe tracks is 17 tracks long. A lot of fans argue this is her best album, lets see if I agree with that assessment or not!1. MoonlightThe original title track until the album became Dangerous Woman. I don't come back to this song too often buts its a really pretty and cute intro track. Though of all of her intro tracks on her records this one is the weakest one imo. Then again joining the ranks of full on songs like imagine and Honeymoon Avenue is a challenge and then the shorter interlude intros like raindrops and intro are quick and straight to the point yet beautiful in there brevity. This one is just cute but doesn't measure up to those aforementioned tracks, it has a charming personality but it doesn't keep me entertained. 7.5/102. Dangerous WomanMan when I first heard this I immediately fell in love with it. The sultry and sexy vibe of this track really felt like a great sound on her. The guitar solo bridge is a nice touch that strengthens that vibe and her runs in the final chorus. Easily one of my all time favorite songs from Ari and I think it served as a good lead single though it was very misleading of where the album was going sonically, it does fit lyrically though. 10/103. Be AlrightTo this day the intro still reminds me of the Rugrats theme song. Anyways this is a cute fun lil dance pop number though its not really a song I come back to at all. The song is definitely elevated in live performances but the album version kinda falls flat and gets boring. The song really could benefit from having more substance like another verse or a feature or something. 6.9/10 4. Into YouThe fan favorite of fan favorites, Into You upon first listen was such a banger and it still is a really fun infectious dance pop number that never fails to be a blast. Over time I kinda did get tired of the song, partially influenced by its popularity here on Pulse but coming back to it recently for the 2016 RD really showed that the song still slaps. 9.6/10 5. Side To SideThis is a song that grew on me immensely following its single release, I think its a great follow up to Into You on the album. The tropical lite pop vibes and the hook of the song really stays in my head. Nicki's verse is also a great addition on this track and the final chorus seals the deal for me. 9.5/106. Let Me Love YouI always actually enjoyed this one a lot more than most, its a good change of pace sonically from the last 3 upbeat pop numbers so it sonically is a breather. I don't mind Lil Wayne on this track but it doesn't really stand out much for me, it's just passable and I think benefits from a rap verse. 8.3/10 7. GreedyEasily my top favorite of the album tracks, its such a groovy very upbeat pop number that is total fun. This not being a single is still mind-boggling. Her vocals also are f**king killer through and through here, GREEEEEDY-OOOO. 9.4/108. Leave Me LonelyAnother favorite of the album tracks for me, Macy kind of gives the song a storyteller vibe and Ariana gives the actual story. I do think this song is even better live than it is in studio form but it still is pretty great. Ariana's vocal performance is very pretty, soulful, and is the highlight of the song, I do wish Macy Gray was more involved in the song though, it definitely is disappointing that she doesn't sing any parts with Ari. 8.7/109. EverydayThis is a song that at first I thought was an awful single pick but man this turned out to be a HUGE grower over the years. I really think it sets itself apart from the majority of pop songs with an Urban lite sound and very straightforward sexual lyrics and a very banging production. I also actually think Future's addition on the track is one of the rare times where Future actually is very beneficial to the track. 9.4/1010. SometimesThe closest we get to acoustic/stripped down on the album, Sometimes is a song that I really enjoy and think strikes with its chorus and bridge the best. The la la la male voice kinda is annoying a bit tbh, I kinda wish she sang that on her own. Aside from that, I really enjoy this one. 8.3/1011. I Don't CareI like IDC thematically but I don't really care for it much, its a cute lil Yours Truly-esque number and doesn't really do much for me at all on this album. Probably is my least favorite song on the album, still a good track but it definitely is one of the least interesting songs here. 7.0/1012. Bad Decisions Another really fun pop number on the album, I think this one brings some life back into the album after the last few tracks and shifts things back into big pop sounds. This is a track I often come back to, its just really fun and up there as a favorite of the album tracks. 9.3/1013. Touch ItYeah I originally thought this song wore off on me but it still has held up pretty well, I don't come back to frequently but it still definitely is a great listen and a power vocal and production moment of the record. IMO it feels like the breathin of this record, though yes that song came out later you get the comparison. It stand out very well from the rest of the album. 9.1/1014. Knew Better/Forever BoyThis is a combination of tracks that work well together, but Forever Boy is where its at for me. Its easily the better side of the track and I do think these two songs could have been separated into there full solo versions on the album but it works as is just fine too. Knew Better is the weaker half here but it still is good too and works as a combination with Forever Boy. 8.5/1015. Thinking Bout YouI used to like this more, its just alright now to be honest. Its a pretty good track but I just don't gravitate to it at all anymore, the vocals at the final chorus are nice tho. I kinda wish the chorus wasn't so repetitive too. 7.8/10 16. FocusSo I'm in the minority that finds this song to be the superior version of Problem and I still enjoy the song, its really fun and catchy. I don't mind Jamie Foxx on the chorus though I definitely can see why others didn't like it. 8.9/1017. Step On UpI honestly forget this song exists, its a cute marching band like upbeat number but it feels like a Ciara song. Though there is this really good mashup that throws this song over the beat for Gimme More and its BLISS, that mashup is a banger. The actual song itself just.....falls real flat to be completely honest and she doesn't sound so great over the production, it feels a little rough on the edges. 6.4/1018. Jason's Song (Gave It Away)Not gonna lie I also forget this exists, its a solid track but it definitely feels like a limited deluxe track. Something about it also feels a bit unpolished but idk what specifically, its a bit rough in places. It does feel like a demo at times instead of an actual fully realized song to be entirely honest, it's no surprised why it was relegated to the status of being a Target edition track. 6.2/10Final Thoughts: 8.4/10
This is album I definitely would have rated higher overall back in 2016 but some of it hasn't held up as amazing as I once held it up to be. Now first question, do I think this her best album? At the time yes I still think its the best of her first 3 projects but I think sweetener and TUN managed to be better cohesive records, TUN for sure, sweetener may be roughly even with this album. It's a really fun pop record though there are some tracks there are a little weak or just don't stand out too much like Be Alright and I Don't Care. It is an album I do come back to very often but I do skip certain tracks when I listen to it.

I agree with you on almost all of these. Be alright I dont care and Jason's song are so overrated. Everyday and focus are way too overhated.
Songs from this album on my top 100 favorite songs of all time.
