I'm excited about this one too. I loved the Irene Cara original and the cover version that Maor Zohar remixed earlier this year.
Bill Bennett had mentioned on his MySpace some time ago that this one, the Inaya Day track and some other forthcoming ones will be on an album to be released later this year/next year.
Speaking of Suzanne, there's also those new mixes of "There Will Come A Day" which was originally released in '95.

the vocals are great, but im not wild about the mix honestly...i expected more The production is alright. The vocals are totally awesome. If they push it as a single, some mixes could make it better. A mix by Eric Kupper a la his extended version of "Fascinated" could work well.

I just got the Edson Pride mix. It's okay. I love the vocals on it though. I think it would work better as house/disco type mix,

i'm not too excited about any of the remixers. i like scotty k a lot, but this is not really his kind of song. i honestly wish this was a star 69 project because i think their stable of djs would make this great...in the wrong hands, this is just gonna come off as cheesy

Sanchez and DJ Paulo could have done a decent job on it. I loved what JJS did with Suzanne's "Keep The Faith." While I didn't like that song that much, the production was decent. Although I have found some of Paulo's mixes to be either hit or miss, lately I have loved his work.

yeah i was very excited about paulo being attached to the project. i wonder if peter pressured him to back out of it since suzanne inst working for him on this one. i cant imagine paulo is really TOO BUSY to remix it since he does tons of remixes, man of which aren't even official!
p.s. HATED "keep the faith"-even offer's mix was booooooring

PS. for "Keep The Faith", I found the Wayne G & Porl Young mix to be palatable. I liked the classic house sound of it. I actually heard it in Abercrombie & Fitch and was like, that mix sounds alright. I sorta liked Offer's mix. Well, that was the only one I would play live if I had to. The production just felt too minimal and sparse. And I felt the amount of vocals was too few. Then he did the "Deja Vu" mix which centered around one line and then some bits of the chorus in the break.

Twisted Dee's mix of this is decent. It's standard circuit fare, but it's much better than the Edson Pride mix.

He's had a few good ones in the past like his Rihanna "Shut Up And Drive" and Britney's "And Then We Kiss". Though I preferred the Petyasb one for the latter. EP's sound hasn't changed and evolved that much during they years. :(

from an email Bill sent out earlier today:
Hi Everyone,
Fame, my next single featuring Suzanne Palmer has leaked on the internet.
Taking these new circumstances into consideration, we are pushing the single release up to May 26th, the original release date or my full length album. This date will now be delayed to July.
North American Billboard DJs should expect there promotional copy the Fame remixes the first week of June. Remixes by Twisted Dee, Scotty K, Bryan Reyes, DJ Ranny, Edson Pride and myself with my production partner Pete Masitti. Remixes will also be available on iTunes later in the same month. In today's market entertainers get curve balls thrown at them often, illegal downloads is one of them. Bumping up the release of FAME and pushing my album back is the only way we can save our work and investment.
I apologize and know that many of you are anxiously anticipating the album release, myself included. I hope you understand this situation and the decisions Suzanne, Big Muscle , my management, and I have made. Those of you who have pre-ordered the album can still look forward to receiving it one week before its official release.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding, -- Bill Bennett

What isn't better than a typical Edson Pride mix? :) Hmmm, I'm willing to bet your work isn't! I really think Edson Pride's sound has positively evolved over the past few years. I really like a lot of his recent work and have definitely noticed a change in his sound. He adapts. I think the mix he did of Fame is probably one of his best works to date. This guy essentially rose through the ranks from white-label/bootleg remixer to being featured on Promo Only, and now to being commissioned (I assume) for a Suzanne Palmer remix. So, it would seem to me more people are interested in his sound than you would think... Give people a break. Unconstructive criticism has no place on one of the few active boards out there dedicated to this genre of music.

Hehe - thanks, Joe & Mikey - I really appreciate the compliments. David, I'll admit that it was a bit of a snarky and unfair comment on Edson's mixes, and for that I apologize. To be more constructive, I'd say he needs to buy a few new sound banks/libraries, change his style up some, and maybe take a few classes on audio engineering/mastering. I just have not been able to get into his mixes, which is a personal preference. I certainly do not parade around every thread that mentions Edson Pride and bash him. Apology accepted? P.S. If anyone wants a copy of the Ciara mix, just ask! I always preferred the mix of Kelly - Shoes that Trypsin and I did, but I think that's because it was just so much fun making it - we were cracking up the entire time.

According to a new posting by Bill at Rico's, there will be some more mixes. He mentioned two specific ones: Klubjumpers and Luis Erre. He didn't say how many other mixers, but there will be more.

hopefully one of those will be good....the only mix of this that is decent is by twisted dee, and even that one gets tiring after a little while....someone (ahem, OFFER) needs to really blow this track out of the water!

They also have remix singles for Cyndi Lauper, Natasha Bedingfield, Justin Lanning, and part 2 of Erin Hamilton.

They should post the full email newsletter on their website the way PerfectBeat does. It's nice because sometimes it's available on the site before the customers receive it.

There's a part 2 planned. Maybe it will be a part of that one. Bill mentioned that Klubjumpers and some others had been asked to do mixes. Let's see if those actually happen.

Is this a cover of the Irene Cara tune or something else? Whatever the case I'm just glad to see her back! EDIT: nvm, I didn't notice that this was a two-page thread
