Awesome album. This is the MG I grew up listening to. Some really mature stuff on here unlike their previous record. I would say it's more like Tattoos and Scars than anything other album. They really gave a damn making this album, and I know Troy is so pumped for it to be finally released
Early rankings
Feet Back On The Ground - What a meaningful tune. Whew. I love you momma.
Better Me - this song will always get me. Rip, T.
Needing a Beer - great tribute to those like T-Roy. Classic MG.
All Hell Broke Lose - Never thought I'd hear Eddie sing a love song, but damn this is a good one. LOVE that chorus. Beautiful.
Drink Along Song - vintage MG jam. Love it. Would've been a smash back in the day
Drive On Home - great vocal by T.
That's The Thing About America - very timely lyrics, not taking sides like Neal McCoy.
Crazies Welcome - this is really old school. Nice tune.
Shotgun Wedding - like a new school Hillbilly Shoes. I dig it.
Get Down South - cheesy lyrics, infectious melody. Guilty pleasure
King of the World - not my favorite but love the swagger from Eddie. Feel good tune.
What'cha Say We Don't - don't like the production here, but great vocal by Troy

Gonna take me some time to compile my rankings but this is 1 millions times better than their last album. A good variety of songs with some classic MG production, not pop and trend chasing like Folks Like Us. I know I'm biased when it comes to these guys but they seem to be able to turn songs with ordinary country lyrics, that I would hate if anyone else sung, into total jams. I'll give my opinion on individual songs with my rankings tomorrow.

Before I even got on here, I was listening to the album thinking to myself, 'man, this takes me back to their early stuff...love it!' Then I get on here, read the comments, and find out I'm not alone. :)
I won't go through song-by-song...but I'll say that, for anyone who likes Montgomery Gentry (especially their first few albums & Some People Change), this one will be right up your alley. Classic MG here.

It's #1 on the iTunes country Charts and #3 overall. That's pretty awesome. Just cause Bobby Bones doesn't care don't mean the rest of the world doesn't. Really glad this is getting the buzz it deserves. Will be buying a few copies at Walmart later today for sure.

Wow, "Feet Back On The Ground" is Scotty McCreery'song "Back On The Ground" from his first album Clear As Day. Pretty cool.

Early ranking (top 6 are all so close for me)
1. Feet Back On The Ground (Just a great country song)
2. Crazies Welcome (Eddie nails this one)
3. Better Me (song was meant for T-Roy)
4. Needing a Beer
5. That's The Thing About America (not what I was expecting at all. But love the message)
6. All Hell Broke Loose (Glad they put this in here even though Eddie was hesitant)
7. Get Down South (As I've said in a previous post, I would probably hate this if anyone else sang it but MG makes this a jam.)
8. Drink Along Song (Another Jam)
9. King Of The World
10. Shotgun Wedding (cool song idea)
11. Drive One Home (Not bad, just nothing special.)
12. Wat'cha Say We Don't (The only Song that reminds me of Folks Like Us. Which is a bad thing.)

I've tried three different Walmarts and two different Targets and still haven't found this. Anyone else in the same boat? I know CD's are on the way out (as evidenced by recent news with Best Buy), but I would have liked to have a physical copy just to see if there was a special note in the liner notes or something. I guess it's Amazon time...

I think "King of the World" is my favorite. It's got an old-school vibe and sounds like a polished version of something that would have been on their first album. Eddie nails the vocals on it.
Overall a very good album. Here's to you T Roy.

So how did this one sell? Preliminary figures have it at 8000 copies. However, I would wait for Billboard to make it official.

Does anyone know how many copies "Folks Like Us" sold in it's first week? I'd imagine much less than this.

Does anyone know how many copies "Folks Like Us" sold in it's first week? I'd imagine much less than this. I believe about 5,000. Obviously such an increase for not having a successful song at radio is really impressive. MG was of course a little fresh in everybody's mind with the passing of T Roy but this album was miles better than Folks Like Us and I guarantee that had just as much to do with it as anything.
